Eh? How does that add to any putative uselessness for mining? If they couldn't be anchored within 15km you might have a point.
You say you mine alot, yet you think that secure cans are great for mining. The problem is not that you cant anchor near a roid, its that you cant anchor near ANYTHING. which includes other cans. Which means any field that has been mined in the past and has cans cluttering it up is harder for each person that next comes along and tries to find a spot to anchor themselves. Its really damn annoying.

Originally by: Braaage Problem with secure cans being transportable and huge is players will use them as they are now for getting that little bit extra in yer hold. There is a simple solution to this:
Make cans hold more (like 20000m3) and 3000m3 in mass but make them so they cannot be transported with anything inside them.
In other words make them take up less space when repackaged (you cant put thing in non assembled cans). --------------------------------------------------

Edited by: Feyd Darkholme on 06/12/2004 22:13:28 You know, all you people posting on threads like this one touting the whole "risk vs reward" BS are really making a completely lame "point"... Where is the equity? What is the risk involved in some hauler alt happily trotting by and stealing an hour or more of my work? Perhaps if this criminal flagging was effective when implimented it would be different, but as things stand, and as they've stood since the beginning, there is no equity. That "risk vs reward"reasoning is absolutely laughable in the extreme. What is the risk on the thieves end of things? There IS none! ---------------

I agree that ppl should use secure containers, until another solution is introduced. But sec containers are not an option in 0.8-1.0 systems, you are not allowed to anchor them.
clagnuts> im drunk just come back from pirates night in spain , wtf i thought it was some eve guys getting together for a drink , turned out to be a feken real pirates show , doh |

Heh. You know, that's actually a REALLY good point. Someone pointed that out a long time ago to me regarding the whole gate camping and griefing haulers thing and it struck me as a very good argument. It's amazing that the people who like blowing things up so much never stop to think about the consequences. Hopefully, there's lots of "magical fairy dust" to go around in case they lose their ships, so they can continue to grief miners.

My 2 cents on pirates:
Pirates who hunt miners for personal profit AND who freely admit that any 'victories' they score don't really count on the 'I am Uber Scale' are honest, arguably respectable, and very rare.
Pirate who hunt miners AND who then think they are pvp 'uber' are idiots and sadly common.
Pvpers who feel that the only 'True Bragging Rights' victories are victories scored against opposing pvp fitted combat forces ARE the 'uber' pvpers of Eve. Some of them are also pirates.
The most idiotic point of view in Eve is the view that 'Carebear Miners' have somehow 'wronged' the pvpers. This view is pure stupidity, and anyone expressing it might as well carve "I am an Idiot" onto their forehead and rub bright glow in the dark ink into the wound.
The truth of the matter is that the pirates are thugs, and the carebear miners are the ones who have been 'wronged'.
Having said the above, if a player wants to play a thug, thats cool. A game like Eve NEEDS bad guys. A villian who plays with some style is even better. Even among the 'Villians with Style' there are options for variety of play, to keep the game interesting. Some villains can play EVIL characters, some can play profit motivated thugs, or any bad guy style you prefer.
While some pirates make really stupid statements, some carebears (or "industrialist" if you prefer...) also make stupid statements. Hardly a week goes by in Eve without a carebear posting an 'idea' that if implimented by CCP, would allow him to mine the best ore in the game without worrying about risking pvp. While I support keeping high security areas 'minimal risk', and nerfing as needed to keep them that way, I also support keeping the high value goodies in the riskier areas of the game.

maybe a hireable NPC hauler that just charges you based on the total cargo value and jump distance as the system my warrant that would solve the problem once and for all ------------------------------------------------ Do not let the world change you. Change the world
Here's everything I know about war: somebody wins, somebody loses, and nothing is ever the sa |

not my problem that you start crying when you dont get fluffled by everyone
this game is like cop and bandit, bandits give the cops a bloody nose, and cops try to give bandits bloody nose
industrie is just here too allow us all of this
and to the people saying "what do you think who produce your items?" well probably not you, cause i buy my items in 0.4 and lower
and get smart, PvP are the motor of this game, otherwise there would be no need for your minerals, cause only morons loose ships to npcs Wanna fly with me?
