Alliance mails from Bobby today:
TLDR: Atlas is leaving the north.
I am going to start off first by saying I am sorry, sorry for allowing the cluster **** that is this campaign and the h-w situation to have happened or more importantly to have allowed it to get so bad.
Lets take it from the worst thing first, the h-w fiasco. The attack on H-W was never supposed to have happened, the original plan involved camping down H-W on the morning of the 9th to keep as much of the NC contained while a smaller but cap heavy group of forces went off sbuing/reinforcing stuff all over pb/fade. One of the straining points of the plan was that it was all created on a rather hasty whim by SirMolle on a Thursday night after a number of his FC's and best grunts started to scream at him for action or they were leaving.
So how did we end up sieging H-W instead, I have no ****in idea to be perfectly honest -- but whatever happened, happened and by the time the day was through it seemed Molle had some misguided conception that he could camp H-W in a PR-8 style as goons/nc had done to BoB before the fall of Delve. The only problem was he failed to realize the details in that when PR-8 was camped up, it was like 25 alliances vs his mainly 2 alliances (IT/-A-) whereas H-W was our collective 6-8 alliances vs NC blob's however ****in many alliances. Worst yet there was little to no success to date on our part to demoralize/fracture NC numbers, so when H-W was threatened, it was like walking into a bear cave in the middle of winter and popping off a few rounds for lols then sticking around to see if you get eaten or not. Well ladies, we got eaten.
The whole idea of logging capitals off in H-W was a ludicrously stupid plan, it was one I was vocal about not doing and my biggest regret in this whole situation is failing to do what I have done for the past 3 years -- telling others to go **** themselves and issuing my own orders in the best interest of ATLAS. I was trying to be a team player and it bit us in the ass -- I will not make that same mistake again. I have no problem working with allies but at the end of the day, never will I allow us again to be subordinate to other peoples plans. You take what ATLAS offers you or you can suck our collective ****s.
I am going to try keep the rest of this short, the entirety of this NC campaign is and has been a joke, it never materialized as was envisioned and the sooner everyone involved realizes that the less ******ed everyone will look. I really don't give a **** what people think about us for pulling out but we are going home. The allies we care about know we are leaving and understand, the rest of them, well thats really only IT -- I don't really care what they think. I have a feeling the only thing this campaign has proven among the SC alliances, is to never let IT lead another campaign.
This campaign was so stupid it even cost us our first titan loss after 3 years, sure it was going to happen eventually and that is the only comfort we have but we will not be phased by it -- **** happens, ships blow up, we move on. If you got iskies to spare I do encourage you to dig deep and generously with your donations to beehatch. It does not matter the circumstances of how or why he died, all that matters is he died in the name of ATLAS by putting himself out there in a hostile system under questionable and stupidly disorganized circumstances and for that we will make sure he is taken care of, expect to see him in a new titan VERY soon.
If you have a super capital stuck in H-W, thats easy to get out -- login 2-3 minutes before downtime or even in the final minute, make fleet with cyno pilot, jump out on exit from warp. This can and should also be done by regular capitals but when doing so it is VERY important that you make sure YOU INVITE THE CYNO PILOT to your own fleet right after you've logged in, this will make sure that YOU HAVE NO SESSION TIMER, so the minute you land from login warp, you can jump

.... out instantly. There is no reason this has to be done near downtime for conventional capitals but downtime does serve as a nice cutoff in case you screw up.
The bottom line for conventional capitals and support stuck in H-W is to get out, if that means you die trying then so be it, we will do our best to reimburse all losses. Effective immediate we are cutting dread reimbursements to 650m as a cost saving measure, this is not something I want to do but our budget czar Kneto tells me that it must be done and so, it is done. Let this be your incentive to get out alive... lol. We do have an assortment of dreads available and will replace lost dreads with new hulls where possible.
And another mail:
The orders are simple, pack your bags and head home towards 0-w or whatever corner of our space you call home. If you have the ability to do so please assist with or setup cyno chains towards hothomo to get people rolling. I would like everyone home and restaged for combat ops out of 0-w by no later than Thursday, though we will likely start ops before that on a smaller scale. We got allot of **** near home to cleanup and new ***gots arriving in curse that should provide some fun.
If you have **** lingering in raha, obe or god forbid still in eurgrana (like me) then take some time and relocate those assets back home also. Sure a road trip might be on the agenda again in the future but if and when that happens it will be more on the scale of geminate campaign where we do what we want, when we want and secondary to our fun will be the agenda of our allies.
I want to thank everyone that tried to make good out of the cluster **** that was the NC campaign and again apologize to all those who found themselves trapped in H-W, I will not allow that to ever happen again.

Hmm. Any bets how long before IT declares ATLAS the main reason for failed campaign? Maybe even withdraws from north and starts attacking ATLAS to punish them for their betrayal? Or just to go for them as they are easy target + not obeying the masters?

I can hardly believe that there is someone who STILL really thinks he can be real ally and "friend" to BOB/IT.

About time the plug on this fiasco got pulled... The starting gun for this push should never have started until all the "teams" were at the line and inplace ready to go..

Pretty well written memo, and pretty apt summation. Probably one of the many indicators why, despite his usual shenanigans and misgivings, people still follow babby atlas around after all these years.

Even though I haven't gotten to sling a single shell in anger in this war (stupid computer dying), I give Atlas mad props for that Cap-ship fight they willing jumped into even though they knew they would probably lose. You should probably start listening to your allies more instead of dictating stupid ideas to them. May help if you remember BoB needs Atlas a lot more than Atlas needs BoB.

We all whined about the lag in Geminate aswell, just that WIDOT whined so much about us hacking the server so noone saw our posts, so please try again, and then they brought 500 to fight 200, not when we brought equal numbers for some nice pew pew.
I dont think you get Atlas, we want fights, not turkyshots or bring a gazillion more just to even go to the system. NC and IT can do that game, I want fun equal fights.
And besides, Geminate was all about the inches, not the lag

I shoudln't really comment but truly, NC put up a good fight. It was a challenge and one we humbly lost. Bobby is a great alliance leader, all bias aside, and I trust him implicitly. As for the comment about BoB/IT...well from personal experience I can only say that I "cannot disagree entirely" (for the benefit of politiks n stuffs).

Welcome to Dominion. The game cannot support large powerblocs assaulting each other, it's completely pointless and not much fun. The NC/SC will never take space from each other that is actively defended by either side. They may as well give up until CCP fix the game.
So congratulations Atlas, on having the good sense to understand this and hopefully you will find some fun elsewhere.

tbh respect goes to Atlas for putting insight and rational thinking first, doing what's best for your alliance in the long run distinguishes the better alliances from the others.
As far as how this changes the southern pecking order, I don't think it means anything. Atlas and those loyal to them could give any of the southern alliances a run for their money, and IT know it.

We travelled a long way to NC territory to get a fight and it was fun. ItÆs just a great shame that the terrible lag prevented us from having a really good fight. I hope CCP solves the lag issue soon.

Im not saying that will happen, just that it might. Only wish concerning alliances in eve is that powerblocks die and that alliances are limited to certain members number :) ie you know us old bitter vets we want to roll like its 2004 :P small gangs ftw :D
And good job for bobby to have guts to decide whats best for his own alliance, not just sacrificing it to acomplish someones else aims.

I know I'm just some irrelevant nub in some irrelevant alliance living in some irrelevant corner of the galaxy. Ok, now that's out of the way I'd like to say this:
If I were in a leadership position within the NC, I'd be looking to temporarily set Atlas and/or -A- to blue in order to remove IT from Delve permanently. I reckon we could put our differences aside for a couple of months to wipe the floor with EVE's biggest douchebags. Between the NC and Atlas/-A-, we have some pretty good FCs and PvPers. No reason we couldn't all head down there and teach Molle and Co. a lesson in comradery. Just a thought.

LOL i said this very same thing on alliance chat yesterday....i to am a very small, irrelevant part of the NC, and H-W was my first major "interaction" with Atlas...and i must say i was very impressed...they handled themselves with honour and dignity, from what i saw anyway, even in the face of some pretty lame local chat from NC.
GF Atlas...would rather fight along side you than against you tbh.

Also begging for donations for a new titan is disgraceful, because you have been accumulating wealth for a while now and it couldnt have gone all into reimbursing dreads and carriers from fail cap battles, ookkee's nyx and titans you bought from AAA. So why are you asking for donations???
Also, in case Bobby Atlas missed the memo on why they went to NC space: cap battles, allies support, moons in low sec and trolling. Now they are throwing it all out of the window, because they are at a stand still and lost a lot of caps due to their own stupid decisions.

Well said. I use to respect Bobby but I think he did his pilots wrong by sounding the retreat so fast after a few SC cap losses and blaming the "Team" mates that waited for his lazy ass to show up a month+ late to the fight. Even if IT made the call to stay in H-W and it turned into a **** show, you cant show up to a game at half-time, walk onto the field and think you are going to call the plays now.. You need to take some hits, get the flow of the game, then start throwing in on strategy and what the next play should be...
Instead....Atlas gets tackled, Bobby cries, and he packs his team back on the bus and goes home... Agreed the game was lost when you showed up at half time but ffs at least have some class and help your other team mates off the field that had been waiting for you to show up for a long time to help....
I think Bobby owes IT an appology...

Thats a pretty good point as it took around a month for his allies to turn up and rescue him and it also took a month for his allies to travel up North.
Guess in future Molle should take the delay into consideration.

We failed, plain and simple. Our participation was crap and our pilots were not into this fight. We were not prepared for the fight and we rushed into it too quickly. Atlas immediatly after we finished our campaign in Geminite, went directly down to providence to help -A- grind through all those stations. We got maybe a week of r&r and then packed everything back up north. Our pilots were burned out. Most of our major FC's and even our alliance leader were on break. Many of our vets were not logging in and our participation was horrible compared to our last several campaigns.
We pushed too hard with nothing to back it up with. We tried to hit stations and moons when we know the first act in an invasion is to simply roam and kill enemy fleets to break morale. Instead our fleets got killed and we did something stupid by trying to involve ourselves in a sov war with a superior enemy. NC has been preparing for this war while we have been roaming eve like space hobos killing **** and burning ourselves out.
In the end there is no one to blame but ourselves. Our allies did an excellent job but had their own problems aswell. We failed because of our own damn fault. Now we have to learn from our mistakes, shrug it off and move on.
I had a lot of fun up north. Were alot of good fights. I also <3 ME and Rage, hopefully we can come visit you guys sometime soon again. So GF allies and enemy alike and we'll see you on the battlefield again but not until we are ready.

That's pretty well said, Dasty. I think you and Bobby are showing some fairly mature leadership here and I believe it will serve Atlas well. I might have said and done things a bit differently, but the substance is right on, I think.
As an observer, it's pretty clear to me that whatever else the campaign had going for or against it, timing was a major factor against. I figured Atlas and -A- would not be as "into it" as IT was given what the various parties had been doing when IT decided to kick off on its own timetable. IÆm not sure how much consultation on anything was afforded you guys by IT, but I canÆt see you being all that enthusiastic about the campaign timing. Still, given what was being brought to the party, even I had my doubts the NC would be able to withstand. I assumed full and lengthy commitment by all involved parties, though.
IT was just coming off a relatively "LOL" campaign in Fountain and even less of a "campaign" for Delve. They were obviously pretty pumped up and ready to take on anything. Meanwhile, you guys had just gotten done slogging through Geminate and Providence. Having been a small part of the Providence campaign, myself, I know how completely lacking in "fun" that was.
Timing really is everything.
At the start, I remember a lot of SC members and supporters laughing about how they were going to roll the NC carebears ôthis time, once and for allö and I cautioned that that people have said that before and been found lacking in the ability and stamina necessary to actually do so. I think one of the biggest flaws in SC strategy and mindset is the belief they are unquestionably better in every way than the NC and that you can exert a little bit of pressure and it will fracture. Two times now, this has been proved to be wrong on all accounts. The core of the NC is much closer, more cohesive and much more organized than many seem to want to believe. People even mistake what drives that motivation and cohesion. Keep underestimating them and youÆll keep failing. Different does not mean inferior.
People make great sport of talking about how the NC never does anything but mine and rat. Keep believing that nonsense if you wish. I respectfully submit that this belief isn't serving you well. ThereÆs a whole host of empirical evidence built up over the past 3-4 years that supports the contrary. Yes, the NC is capable of some very ôWelp!ö moments and some incredibly stupid moves. This is true of any entity in the game, though.
It was an entertaining campaign at times. There was more than a few times I wished I was up there in the thick of it.

On a more serious note, another factor in warfare (whether in RL or a game) is motivation - there's a whole lot more motivation to be found defending one's "home" than in attacking somebody else. For the NC it is a matter of "successfully defend your home turf or go back to empire" (oh god please not empire!), whereas for the SC it has been "successfully kill the NC or go back home, which we'll do in the end anyway".

IT asked atlas,aaa and co to help and 1 month later they arrived in tribute during this campaign and in PR-8 it took a month for help to arrive.... if history is to repeat itself, i would say that BLAST and Fountain pet CTA that was called to break IT out of h-w should arrive in about 3 weeks right?

That is the difference between having friends and having pets and renters. Friends will help you out in a tight sc****. Renters and pets will run when the going gets tough.
You do remember what that was like, I take it. That resulted in BoB running south after the first MaxFail to "help" -A- fend off the fearsome Goonies. It happened again when a disgruntled BoB director disbanded the alliance resulting in a free for all in the South. Rather than stay and fight the pets and renters ran, not even stopping to help their former masters out in PR-8. And now we see it happen all over again.
BTW, I was wondering whether Molle decided on his excuse for the failure of this latest venture? Will he blame Atlas for his tactical failures? Will he blame the lagand the node crashes, forgtetting that he claimed that would be used to the SC'd advantage? We all waited with baited breath.

As for the people mocking Bobby, I think you should really think about it twice considering the alliances most of you are in. You can only wish you could have such an awesome leader as Bobby, the amount of work and passion he's put into Atlas is just phenomenal and the trajectory of our alliance is the best proof of it.

I rate this thread only 3/10 Minigins, because of only low levels of Fail and emo rage.
In future, to increase your Minigin count try one of these methods:
1) Talk about how cool and successful you are in non-Eve endeavours.
2) Cry more.
3) Spell at least 50% of your words incorrectly (lack of punctuation is also a plus).
4) Talk about things you have no involvement in. Make sure to point out how much better you are at doing whatever that thing is.

to be honest the best fights i have had have been against Atlas alliance and for the majority of this 'invasion' (a term i use loosely) the majority of the fighting has been done by Atlas, and the fights worthy of note and mention have been lead and manned mainly by Atlas...
With all my heart i do say i have enjoyed the pew you guys have provided, you came up here after a campaign, which had lasted several months, then you immediately came and hit us with little or no downtime, and then you made the majority of the numbers in the fleets... Very commendable, and i wish you all the best luck, and kudos to your FC's and Leadership...

It doesn't matter if I.T kicked them or not, the Cap Fleet destroyed by NC can be replaced but Atlas now have an opportunity to be more than a Regional power and stamp their authority on the South East of the map.
I was surprised how many entities chose to follow I.T and thus re-enforce Molle's prestige none moreso than Atlas, who were beginning to establish their own independent rep. in the game.
Their retreat does not spell friendship with NC but does give them a brief opportunity to bank some credibility for "bringing it" and replace their neighbours as the big dawg in the South East.

Atlas already controls the south east. We hold or influence 5 regions along side our bff's COW and GC. There is no reason to expand our empire any further in the forseable future. We have had IT neutral since they started trying recruiting our corps which greatly strained relations between us. We did have Dice come stay with us in bobs hiatus for awhile. At this point the only relations we have is because of our mutual friendships with -A-.
While IT has made some bad calls strategicly in this campaign, don't let this taint the majority of their member base. There are many quality and chill peeps in IT.
After our fail attempt in obe, we moved to aunenenenen with -A-. They lead most of our fleets and did a good job. I like manny and he was instrumental in helping us get back into a somewhat decent fighting force up there.
As for h-w, that was the last straw for us. It wasn't the loss of our capfleet (we do that for fun ie Ncgr) but it was a horrable command decision. That was the point we asked ourselves what are we doing here and decided to pull out.
Again I want any blame for atlas failure to be kept on us. We were doing it wrong and knew it.

That's not what Bobby said in the op, he seemed adamant that atlas's failure was due to bad decisions from IT, never let IT run another campaign I think the line was.
