1. Bubble tooltips, like the new module hover over tooltop and new player experience. These look modern and look nice on your screen. 2. Revisit the ship HUD, remove the "old" feeling and make it look more modern. The x3 white bar thing is looking kinda "meh" these days 3. Remove CQ from the game and move it to a web-based character and market management thingie. Everytime you dont like my comments/posts the terrorists win and your a disgrace to your country. |

For the record this can't be fixed, the server works on 1 second ticks.
Say you are locking a target that takes 4.5 seconds to lock and you are in perfect sync with the 1 second tick, he has an align time of 4.8 seconds and started to align the instant you started to lock. When you finally have a there is a .5 second delay in module activation due to it only activating on the tick. Finish some of the plans for EVE Gate - management of the skill queue from the web. 3. Enable the purchasing of advertising time (corp recruiting, products and such) on space billboards & for CQ TV - to players.
The only thing I never liked about EFT was importing and re-importing your stats to keep it all in perspective, so yeah, this would be nice. edit:
2. That too.
3. Available for banner ads apparently, but the billboard thing is a good idea too. Thought of that ages ago, as did a few others I imagine, but never saw a lot of support for it. Mostly, I think it was ignored. I have deleted and cleared my signature 7 times and it still won't go away. |

It seems to me much of the issues that make the game not feel as polished as it could be are UI issues, and I'm not just talking about how pretty the text is, or what functions it controls.
This isn't something that I believe can be solved, only mitigated by eve's insistence on having 100% accurate information at all time. It also removes the ability to specialize in things like command and control and information warefare.
What I mean by that is so long as every player have perfect target ranging assessment, then command becomes, shoot this and then that, gunnery/ranging is completely passive, and theres no need to a players to give better than 100% accurate information.
Let look at from a different viewpoint. If information is not 100%, then commanders need to make assesments in a much murkier environment, and is able to employ risk management techniques, and experience to bear much more so that yell primary/secondary over vent. He job isn't even likely done directly on the battlefield, but from a safer location or distance. If every can't see the whole battle field, then players will need to specialize in understanding the battlefield and employing real tactical assessment skill.
Imagine if you have a player set aside as the ranger or sky and their whole job is scanning down targets to account for natural phenomenon, EW and the naturally imperfect targeting computers on their allies ships. And they would have to coordinate with the commander to figure out which targets to prioritize for scanning. Painting also means more than it means right now, which would be nice, since it is probably the weakest EW there is in EVE, but one of the best in real life.
And what if you could disable propulsion, without the silly warp jamming mechanic. What if the frigates value wasn't just putting points on a target, but disabling a variety of key system through targeted damage.
Its too late to think about such things now. The overview isn't going anywhere, and to be fair is it the most effective solution to what would probably drive a lot of players crazy in frustation if they couldn't just click on a target and go pew pew till something dies. Atleast we do have the locking mechanic to give it some depth.
But to me, I think the experience is under served by not having to look out into space and see whats out there. When players post their UIs and most of them are over 50% covered b some screen or the other, then it seems a tiny bit silly to be working on ship graphics. I like big guns. I can not lie. You other suckas can't deny. When I warp in, with an itty bity sig, with an arty in your face, you get sprung. You want to pull out your debuffs, 'cause you want to loot my stuff...deep, in a worm with nary, an escape but you can't stop staring. 'Cause, Oh crap!, Baby's got Point! |

After reading this thread, I have to ask; how would removing local make the game more polished?
Don't get me wrong, people, you have a nice bandwagon going on here, but how does local or lack thereof have anything to do with the game's polish?
Nothing? Thought so.
Moving on, I'd have to go with:
1. More polished UI. This is quite an obvious one. In this point, I'm talking purely graphically. While I didn't really bother with the new tutorial itself, I noticed its interface is significantly more polished than the rest of the UI. It's a good excuse to bring the rest of the UI up to par. 2. More functional mission interface. While the new UI for mission running is pretty cool, there's definitely room for improvement, as its functionality is totally limited. For instance, not having to click on the mission log and double click the specific mission just to see if it is complete would help a TON. it's really really wrong that I can't quickly check it out with one click (or preferably, just put a tick next to the mission right in our face without the need to click anything). 3. Market filters. Now, this might be a personal gripe of mine, but it bugs me that I can't choose to show all items that have some kind of attribute. It's really tedious for a new player For instance, I should be able to filter for "lowers capacitor recharge timer", which would bring up all implants, boosters, modules and rigs and whatever else that does this. This would prove to be a strong tool, especially in the hands of a new player, and with the new category-based search of the market CCP just implemented, it would directly show them the relevant categories of items they are interested in as well.
Pure QoL features, but hey, those are what add polish to the game. That's all I got for now. |

I like option 3. Trying to squeeze in that fit, build a filter with exactly what you need and see if something is returned! "The human body can be drained of blood in 8.6 seconds, given adequate vacuuming systems." |

I really agree with these. I'm pretty new to EVE, but have tried to "get into" the game virtually since its release. The decided lack of polish and "intuitiveness" of the interface and features is a big part of what eventually drive me off time an again. The above are great examples, I'll offer my opinions on them:
1. The whole windows thing. While not inherently "bad", playing in windows really needs some added polish. Of particular note to me are the too-small minimize and toolbar buttons and functionality of the basic windows themselves, as well as the inability to customize the buttons on them for easy usage(boring - x interface for a large portion of the experience). There are dozens of other examples of things that require clicking miniscule buttons or clicking through multiple windows to complete one mundane task(looting is prime among these, even with the "loot all" button.
2. The new ship stuff looks better, would really like to see some ability to customize ship appearance(simple and within reason, of course). Nothing says "polished graphics" like my high Minmatar status low Caldari status pilot flying a Caldari craft that DOES NOT have a Caldari symbol on it, for example.
3. I know this is a PvP oriented game, but the basic PvE content really gives the game a dated feel. A little interactivity, maybe even a little choice or consequence of PvE missions would be great.
4. More than PvP focued specific modules, I'd really like to see PvP/PvE move much closer to sharing fitting. Scanning down a PvE fit and ganking it out of course because the PvP ship invariably has the tackle to do so displays the lack of connectivity between the two. With different style missions, the PvE ship wouldn't necessarily be a sitting duck with no escape and little PvP functionality---the two could play nice together much better.
5. Cosmetics everywhere would be really nice. The idea to see many corp specific NPCS's in shipping lanes would be great. Thirty thousand players worth of ships makes some systems pretty bustling and atmospheric, spawning NPC's in areas that "should" be that busy when they are not would really add something. |

1. give the ships momentum of mass - i dont like them flipping so fast sometimes when they turn or sth. that looks unnatural. it dont gives the impression that i fly a big ship and are the commander. eve seems to fail to be coherent with the look and feel of ships. (why windows? etc )
2. give more maneuver options. i am commander of a big ship and i can only orbit approach and fly away? the whole ship idea needs to be redesigned.
3. finally the UI. It is mighty it gives many infos, but make it more context-sensitive. Make it less cluttered, make it more organic - more implemented into the game. in most games you dont really notice that the UI is an overlay. in EVE you cannot oversee this fact even if you try. |
