I think that the User Interface does now need to be redesigned. Apart from being years old, we now have the advent of DUST 514, which has a UI different to that of EVE online. If one is trying to create a standardised product (in this case various aspects of gameplay [MMO and FPS] in a single universe), then one must adopt a design standard for - not only brand consistency - but user experience consistency. So, what I think would make EVE more polishes is to bring the UI design up to date and in line with the design spec set out in DUST 514. I might even go as far as to say that much of EVE online's design should be overhauled to match the (frankly) superior design of DUST 514 simply for user experience consistency. |

oh please, parts of eve are still unchanged from 2003. Think think! I'm sure you can find parts of the game that still feel old. Like the missiles used to be. Or how about how about all of the parts of the game they just leave stuff out? http://dl.eve-files.com/media/1206/scimi.jpg |

1. Meaningful low sec with a reason to be there would make the game immediately more interesting. At present, low sec is, at best, irrelevant. 2. Any new UI that gets away from the boxes in boxes stitched to other boxes. 3. POS redesign. Make them modular like the concepts that hit F&I years ago. |

1. The window GUI is horrible. It looks like some Linux window manager circa 1998. A radical GUI overhaul is badly needed, and will probably generate much tears, hatred, and gnashing of teeth...but it needs to be done. EVE wasn't exactly cutting-edge graphically when it launched in 2003, but it's postively archaic by modern standards. (Art assets need a refresh as well. Those item icons -- icons for trade goods, etc. -- look like they were done in MS Paint.)
2. Update the missioning interface. Instead of the wall o' text you get now (whcih few bother to read), streamline it, update it, and hire a professional writer to write the missions.
3. Transitional animations on gate jumps, station docks, etc. would be nice.
4. Update the bracketing system to be less ugly. I'm not just talking about fonts, but the whole bracketing system.
5. GIve us an inventory-management screen that doesn't suck. Please. Pretty please!
6. A "fitting wizard" for noobs (and some vets) to graphically show some sample fits for different ships (armor vs shield tanking, active vs passive, PVE vs PVP, etc.). The tutorial changes were welcome, but more needs to be done. Also: incorporate EFT or something like it into the client.
7. Here's a good use for the now-useless Captain's quarters: allow users to look at EVE lore and information on the viewscreen. The item database, the chronicles, SCOPE news, etc. Corps and alliances could also have their intel channels routed to this screen.
8. Consolidate the PI interface so you can view the status of multiple planets' harvestors/factories at the same time, rather like the manfuacturing slots interface. That would give me an at-a-glance way to knowing if my harvesters were stopped, for example.
9. I suppose I'm just going to have to live with the "sideways warp tunnel effect", since that bug has been in the game as long as I've been playing it and is apparently impossible to track down and fix.

1. Restore looting (both in terms of giving out something other than metal scraps as as well as restoring the option to get aeck the old looting methodology) 2. Restore 'widescreen' mode to allow for a clearer reading of combat data and help end 'nebula blindness'. 3. Allow for a narrower font, scale-able per window, so that I can read what I need to without having to use half the screen to do it or squint and guess how much ammo I have. If I tried to make a type of coffee that made all of you happy, and you rated it, the group score for it would be about 60 out of 100. Break into 3 or 4 coffee clusters, and made coffee just for each cluster, the scores would go from 60 to 78. The difference between coffee at 60 and coffee at 78 is a difference between coffee that makes you wince or makes you happy. |

1. Higher resolution textures 2. Higher poly models 3. Neocom on the top/bottom
The game's art work and user interface are its most aesthetically prominent features and thus the most relevant areas which could be improved if we're talking about polish :)
Whilst some of the older ship designs are charming and shouldn't be changed, higher quality models and textures for these would give EvE a more consistent style. |

1/ Make EVE more alive, take advantage of daily downtime to make the universe more dynamic, for example, stop Malkalen from burning. Week 1 monday downtime, remove fire effects, place NPC cranes and construction crews in space, scaffolding, etc. maybe an agent in space offering a repeatable "ferry construction blocks to us" mission for small loyalty point rewards. Week 2 downtime, remove scaffolding. Week 3 rebuild station. Week 4 place monument to tragic event in space. Another example would be to update NPC corporations more frequently, Heth is still the CEO of Ytiri according to the game. Basically the game stands still for months at a time and then updates all at once, needs work, needs dedicated storyline team.
2/ Sounds for when a new hostile contact appears on overview, picture Battlestar Galactica (reimagined) scene on episode "Thirty-three" where they think they have escaped, as Tigh and Adama discuss taking a break, the beeping sets the scene for hostiles incoming, feels cool, especially when mining with your feet up, suddenly beep beep beep, you get the idea.
3/ In a similar vein as point 1, more live celebratory events, featuring a few new missions, maybe a few new rewards, why don't we celebrate Caldari independance day marking the day they formed the current Caldari State after the Gallenteans took there homeworld every year, for an example. Each race should have at least one monumental day to celebrate.
In summary EVE has a downtime every day, why not take advantage of that to drive the storyline forward? EVE is stationary it may be a big sandbox but theres no reason to make the box so dull as long as it has plenty of sand. |

replace local with an intell tool that scans for player names in system, by scanning down all active grids.
results based on total sig radius of ships on the grid. % chance based, if there is a large battle the scanner will give you a list of player names and that they are clumped up somehwere. Intell tool does not give ship type or location or direction.
Using combined sig radius means a carrier can't hide from local, but a medium gang of frigates, or a small 3 man squad of battleships could. Getting into a fight makes it's easy to see you as now your fleet and the enemy fleets combine to form the total sig radius on grid.
Being docked in a station also puts you on the local intel list.
This gives small gangs new roles as they can better avoid detection than a blob. Thus a small change to promote staying in small gangs. http://dl.eve-files.com/media/1206/scimi.jpg |

i will tally up but I just remembered another old one. this one is not mine.
Stations should get an updates for the insides, not just V3. A whole new layout to look more like a real station with lots of other CQs ad ships docked and undocking viewable. This would be a passive animation of NPC that is based on how many people are docked. It would be mostly client side, you wouldn't actually see other players, but a busy station should feel full of life while an empty station should feel like your alone.
This can be pared with making stations use multiple undock points. There are tons of other docks on a station to use, but for some reason only one works. http://dl.eve-files.com/media/1206/scimi.jpg |

Here's another fun idea that poped up. *see how I'm just sticking them all here instead of making new threads? your welcome tippia :P*
The main UI, the one in the middle. How about a different looking UI for each race? Yeah you hear me, and I mean different different. Like even different layouts, not just color and art. That's something I'd like to see one day. http://dl.eve-files.com/media/1206/scimi.jpg |
