Originally by: Tomcat A carrier is a warship designed with a primary mission of deploying and recovering aircraft (fighters), acting as a seagoing airbase.
No. A carrier is a capship designed to act as a mobile ship maintenance bay and to provide fleet-level logistics. It can also supplement that fleet with a number of different drones for various purposes ù DPS being one of them.
Quote: TL:DR Your trollin' or not very smart.
And you spouted some nonsense that has exactly zero relevance to the game we're playing. I don't suppose you didn't notice that EVE carriers do not operate at sea; do not deploy aircraft; are not (and cannot be) deployed "world-wide"; that they have no relationship to any wooden vessels; that there have never been any balloons in EVE, nor any other aircraft (fixed or rotary-wing); that propulsion types (fusion being the closest to the nuclear power you're dribbling about) are not part of the relevant game mechanics. ——— “If you're not willing to fight for what you have in ≡v≡… you don't deserve it, and you will lose it.” — Karath Piki |

Another side note: You seriously need to unbunch your panties.
I think most folks would much rather CCP employees feel free to post on these forums in a relaxed, good natured way... and even be "allowed" to be sarcastic once in a while. It's far preferable to no interaction at all, or PR double talk. If I wanted that, I'd go to one of the many "other acts in town" that spew empty yet polite BS at their paying customers.
Frankly, if you are that easily offended, you have indeed chosen the wrong game.
Oh good. Another moronic post from the stealth CCP boy. Either a CCP employee or a fan boy of unbelievable dedication. There is not one thing that anyone says against CCP that you don't respond to on CCP's side. You're too obvious to consider this a career you're any good at. Whatever they're paying you? Too much.
When a reasonable question is asked, it is not the place of a CCP employee to make a derisive remark on the subject rather than making an attempt to answer the question. Small childeren with lemonade stands learn that much in their first enterprise. But then this isn't the fist time you've shown your junior level understanding of corporate decision making and public relations.
Despite what you "think" most people would prefer a straight answer rather than being made fun of. If that simple fact eludes you, you have indeed chosen the wrong profession.

actually they are. go back to continuum if you're not happy with these internet spaceships. now your carrier actually has a semblance of balance when compared to subcaps. tough bullet to swallow i know but, trust me, some day soon you'll forget you ever had your i-win buttons and we'll all laugh at how stupid carriers used to be.
You missed the point of the OP and my own post. That is this.....is this a bug or is it an intended feature change? It was a simple and reasonable question with a simple answer. Said answer? It's an issue and they're working to fix it. That's what CCP Atropos should have answered.
No matter how successful a company is or how many customers they have, it is never a good idea to tick cutomers off simply for the fun of doing it. Someone somewhere is always working on being a competitor. When that new product hits the market, you want your current customers happy and loyal. Not anngry with you because you don't have the PR sense of a small green apple

Indeed that is how I should have answered and I would have answered that way had I known it was infact a bug or a feature. I didn't know and so I made a funny remark in an attempt to raise the tenor of the forum which was suffering under the post-patch deluge it often gets.
Having been a player for many years before becoming a dev, I know what it's like to have no interaction with the devs, and so now that the shoe is on the other foot, I attempt to have some semblance of interaction with the player base, whether it's with a succint and factually correct monologue or a short and witty remark about something I know nothing of.
I'm sorry that I was unable to answer your question or offer any insight into the disposition of the problem.

First time that I remember I see some forum alt to troll out a ccp dev. You're really the cancer that's killing eve forums. Good job ensuring we have one dev less which instead of posting decides not to because he might step in someone's toes. Next time try posting *serious business* with your main. (We both know Windjammer isnt it.)

This is just about the most impressive post from a dev I've ever seen. If it isn't an apology, it's close enough to count as one. As such, it gives me new hope for EVE and CCP. Too often I see devs make announcements with the tone of "this is the way it is and if you don't like it, love it or leave it". CCP Atropos has just done a great deal to dispel that image.
Making a mistake tells people something. It sends a message. It may be easy to forget that when you have the letters CCP in front of your name and you post on the forums, you're speaking as the voice of CCP. Your words have weight that an ordinary players words lack.
The way one corrects or responds to a mistake can either compound the original mistake or wipe the mistake from existence and actually leave things in a better place than they were before the original mistake was made. CCP Atropos has just done that.
I hope that CCP Atropos will continue to post to these forums. I found the above post from him/her to be a refreshing breeze.
Best regards, Windjammer

bug or intentional, this should stay. no one should be able to field DPS without having to risk their ship.
win buttons are lame
Originally by: QT McWhiskers The carrier can only assign fighters to people who are uncloaked.
this seems logical, if the person is cloaked how could the fighters communicate or even know where the cloaked ship is. logicality and mechanicly this seems correct
Originally by: QT McWhiskers The carrier can only assign fighters to people who are within overview distance
this, i can see why that would bug you. logically there shouldn't be an issue you should be able to assign fighters regardless of distance, but in terms of the game one should have risk for engaging in battle. being able to sit a a safe spot or warping around evading attack but still adding DPS to a fight is unfair
Originally by: QT McWhiskers If you cloak up, you lose control of the drones.
perfectly logical. mechanicly look above, and logically you need to communicate with this fighters, any form of communication could be traced or located, this would ruin your cloak. makes sence to me.
it is said to be a bug, but it seems like a good bug to me

-It was not a troll. CCP Atropos would not have responded if it were.
-You give me far too much credit. You really think that I can frighten a dev? Kill the forums? CCP Atropos responded as he/she did because it was the right thing to do, not because he/she had the remotest concern over my "fearful and mighty power".
-As I've said on other occasions, the Windjammer character was created solely for posting on these forums. The fact that he is an alt. is readily apparent and is never denied. I created him so that my words would not attract annoyances in the game for myself and those I associate with. If you want to fight me on the forums, fight me with words and because of the words I use and the way I craft them. If you want to fight me in the game, fight me with the things found in the game because of the things I do in the game.

Confirming that everyone hates facetious CCP responses, that's why CCP Shadow is so unpopular.
