Yes, I realise I just completely and utterly butchered it, but come on - do you honestly expect fighters to work while you're cloaking and to magically be able to warp to whoever they're supposed to support without first locking onto their warp tunnel?
If this is intended, it'll bring carriers to the front lines where they belong or at LEAST place carriers at SOME risk of being caught out.
*edit* And here you have it, apparently it's regarded as an issue
But then, could still be a stealth 'feature' until further notice. ---

Edited by: Nemesis Factor on 27/05/2010 06:34:14 I have no issue with carriers losing control of drones when they cloak, I never even used this method because I assumed that's what would happen. What I DID do quite regularly is sit in a deep safe and delegate drones to my fleet members. I know deep safes are gone, but I wouldn't mind hopping around safes while delegating. If I have to let reds see my Thanny, I may as well sell it and make a buck off of losing my carrier. ==================== ~/~ Sultan of Buruni |

Respect for the individual customers? From a CCP dev? That's a new one...
Maybe you should take up your issue with CCP's "Internal Affairs" divison, but hey, I can tell you the outcome already now - their logs will show nothing...

Can't you just... Get outside forcefield, delegate fighters and then make them warp around with the person who has them? I don't see a problem here, infact its good that carriers now need to be a little bit more involved in order to get their drone support. ___

Hell please no! PR people are the worst of their kind. All they do is say "They're working on it and I cannot give an ETA when it's done." Or: "As of this moment I have no further information".

It's a bug at the moment (link in previous posts) and it's not a change listed in the patch notes.
HOWEVER, No problem with it becoming a feature myself... just have the fighters assigned to a person before they warp into battle and the fighters should follow.
Also... I reckon the warp to within distance should have 250km and 500km ranges added... it'd expand the grids, and make large fleet warfare more interesting as you could have multiple fronts on a single overview... LAG CENTRAL but still... would be nice...
SPEAKING OF LAG... anyone been in any major fleet battles since yesterday? how are the servers holding up? ------- I LIKE DEHYDRATED WATERRRR |

Simple.
A carrier is a warship designed with a primary mission of deploying and recovering aircraft (fighters), acting as a seagoing airbase. Aircraft (fighters) carriers thus allow a naval force to project air power worldwide without having to depend on local bases for staging aircraft operations. They have evolved from wooden vessels, used to deploy balloons, into nuclear powered warships that carry dozens of fixed and rotary wing aircraft.

zomg did you just use a rl naval example to justify bashing a game mechanic change in a game that has nothing to do with the way a rl wet water navy operates? The change is interesting and it will be fun to see how this plays out in future battles.

His example is only half correct anyway. The Soviet Kiev class carriers and Russian Kuznetsov Carrier has nothing to do with projecting air power without the need for bases, but to defend its submarine fleet from surface attack and to provide some ASW capability (through rotary wing craft). Same goes for the British Invincible class carriers.

Another side note: You seriously need to unbunch your panties.
I think most folks would much rather CCP employees feel free to post on these forums in a relaxed, good natured way... and even be "allowed" to be sarcastic once in a while. It's far preferable to no interaction at all, or PR double talk. If I wanted that, I'd go to one of the many "other acts in town" that spew empty yet polite BS at their paying customers.
Frankly, if you are that easily offended, you have indeed chosen the wrong game.

actually they are. go back to continuum if you're not happy with these internet spaceships. now your carrier actually has a semblance of balance when compared to subcaps. tough bullet to swallow i know but, trust me, some day soon you'll forget you ever had your i-win buttons and we'll all laugh at how stupid carriers used to be.
