How dare you suggest what the US and EU don't share the same economy, and as a result of this prices on services and good are different on the two continents! You don't seem to understand that prices on services and goods are the same in every country in europe... hmmmm.... maybe you are on to something here... Funny thing, this economy.

If you're really whining about an amount of money that tiny, then you probably shouldn't be playing EVE anyhow.

We're talking about over 20% more (google says 1 USD = 0.81 EUR today; 1/0.81 = 1.23) I'm sure you would pay billions for an implant that gave 20% to DPS. So don't say it's tiny.

Convert both these to pounds sterling (where I live, UK) and its ú12,50 (ish) for euro people and ú10 for US people. Why is this so?
Do I have to move or get my american friends to buy me gametime and then buy it off them or what?
buy your game time from here ---> Shattered Crystal here u pay american prices while living in eu :) they even email u the code within 30 mins. SIG: if my message has spelling errors its cos i fail at typing properly :P |

On the "bleh" side, the EUR is already worth under 1.255 USD, so CCP actually makes LESS money from an EU customer (25.5% VAT). On the "oshi-" side, the EUR might go BELOW 1.00 USD in the not so distant future thanks to the FUBAR situation of Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal (or something like that) and the possibility of Germany and/of France pulling out.

EVE is a universe where everyone has guns and wants everyone else's money. The centre is crawling with police. Surrounding the centre is an area where the police are afraid to leave major travel routes because it is crawling with extremely violent gangs. On the outskirts (0.0), we have exclusive clans trying to build picket fences around their homes. Insurance fraud is common.
So you see, Americans pay less because they aren't necessarily getting a unique experience from EVE.

You're right, I was confusing political problems in Italy with economic problems in Ireland.
Not the best of news sources, just a new-ish random google news link (the only thing in question would be the bias, not the facts though) : Linkage
"The eurozone 7-10 May summit marked a new highpoint in tensions and low point in relations as leaders met to thrash out a way of overcoming yet another emergency. The clash of different national interests was open with the German government, especially, striving to limit any new burdens placed on it. SarkozyÆs reported threat to pull France out of the euro and Barak ObamaÆs direct telephone intervention into the meeting openly piled pressure onto Angela Merkel to force the German government to agree to the ærescueÆ package. This was accompanied by the eurozone rule book being suddenly torn up. The European Central Bank was forced to do an abrupt u-turn, buying eurozone government bonds û in effect, lending money to governments that may not pay it back."
"In the Guardian (London), Dan Roberts explained: ôMerkel called on Europe to ædevelop a process for an orderly state insolvencyÆ û in other words, work out how to let countries such as Greece, Spain and Portugal simply refuse to repay their debts. It might sound obvious to those on the outside, but this flies in the face of everything Europe has been trying to do and would set in train colossal losses for banks, pension funds and investors everywhere."
"While there are no imminent signs of either the eurozone breaking up or individual countries leaving or being expelled, these issues are being discussed. Given the depth of the crisis it cannot be ruled out that one or more of these developments could come to pass sooner rather than later. As mentioned earlier, Merkel has threatened to throw countries out. It is also possible that German capitalism could decide that the costs of bailing out other countries outweigh the trade advantages it has won in the eurozone. In such a situation it is possible that Germany could leave the existing eurozone and try to create a sort of æeuro IIÆ with fewer countries, or even return to the Deutschmark. Interestingly, Austria, Finland and the Netherlands, some of the members of the old informal æDeutschmark zoneÆ, have been MerkelÆs strongest supporters in her battles with Sarkozy."
"many governments are facing mounting problems at home with severe election defeats in France and Germany, the collapse of governments and early elections in Belgium and the Netherlands, sharp slumps in popularity in Ireland, Spain and now Italy, where BerlusconiÆs government is also in the grip of sharp infighting. The new coalition in Britain faces an uncertain future as it moves to implement cuts û one reason for its proposed measures to make the holding of early elections more difficult. Most European governments are unstable or unsure of their chances of re-election."

I have five accounts and haven't paid a single penny for Eve for well over 2 years.
I don't 'grind', run missions or work hard at trading either. Making ISK is trivial.
Anyone that has to pay RL money for eve is doing it wrong. ~_~

Well if you dummies would quit sending your manufacturing jobs to the US, the Euro might stay ahead. It's not like you're helping us out in the long run or anything, we're just going to keep sending our jobs to Asia and Latin America. Americans and Europeans are idiots.
Hey, we don't make anything here anymore!
Hey, wait a minute! Why are we so poor?

Sorry, when I actually pay real money for the game because I think PLEX are too expensive I buy in the US.
Hint: Go to Google, look up "Shattered Crystal".
I never had any problems with them except once when they claimed they tried calling me but didn't - sending them an old email with a transaction number fixed that.

You forgot a "G" there, mate
"PIGS and PIIGS are grouping acronyms used by international bond analysts, academics, and by the international economic press that refer to the economies of Portugal, Italy, Ireland, Greece, and Spain, especially in regards to matters relating to sovereign debt markets. When rendered as "PIGS", the "I" originally refered to Italy, but has occasionally become an interchangeable reference to Ireland. Some news and economic organisations have limited or banned their use due to criticism regarding perceived offensive connotations."
Portugal, Italy, Greece and Spain - PIGS Since the financial crisis of 2007û2010 : Ireland - included to form PIIGS
"As the phrase gained prominence some commentators have used numerous variations such as PIIGGS which includes Great Britain for various political, economic or social arguments."
The United Kingdom (Great Britain) - included to form PIIGGS

Anyway adjusting the price to the changes in currency would become too much of a hassle probably so they set one universal price which they keep standard.

Just buy 3 months or more at once with your credit card, you get a discount. I used to subscribe to a 3-month plan, but I've now changed it to a 6 month plan, which works out to I think 12Ç/month, not too shabby. -
Thanks CCP, I knew you had it in you! <3 Long live Naglfar! |
