Greetings to the EVE community,
I would like to present my project, a browser-based fitter named Osmium. Just like Pyfa, or EFT, you can create fits and everything, except it's done in a browser. So, for example, you can play with it from work, or from a tablet/mobile device and have all your loadouts there.
Osmium is a bit more than just a fitter though, it's also a platform to share loadouts (kind of like Battleclinic). The search function is very powerful, and you can have very fine-tuned filters: you can filter by ship name, by tags, by author, or by fitted modules. You can also of course search the title or description (with full-text search).
Feel free to try it, and provide feedback if you wish. Access it here: http://osmium.artefact2.com The meta page is here: http://artefact2.com/osmium/ (contains screenshots, more info and more links).
Features- Loadout privacy settings: you can make loadouts only accessible to yourself, or your corporation (or alliance). You can even make "hidden" fits that you share by giving the URI to your friends (like private youtube videos).
- You can password-protect loadouts.
- You can import (and export) loadouts from the following formats: CLF (and gzCLF), EVE XML, EFT and DNA.
- Smart batch import: you can import multiple fits at once (for example, paste a chat log and import all the fits that were linked).
- Presets: you can cram several variations of the same concept in one loadout!
- Pain-free registration: no email needed, API verification optional.
- All loadouts are versioned, so you edit away and revert your changes if you want (and you can link to a specific version of a loadout).
- Free and opensource software: Osmium is released under the GNU AGPL version 3. All the depedencies are also under GPL-compatible licenses, so you can run your own copy of Osmium if you want, using only free software.
- Open format: supports the open Common Loadout Format (more information here).
Caveats- Performance: the current server does not have a lot of up bandwidth, so it may be slow, and there's nothing that can be done about that. If you have a spare server with decent specs and bandwidth, contact me if you are interested in hosting Osmium.
- Bugs: there may be some. Please report issues on the bugtracker.
- Browser support: latest Firefox and Chrome are known to work. Don't expect any IE under version 9 to work. Actual IE9 support is unknown (I cannot test it). If you notice layout/rendering issues, please specify your browser and your version (and a screenshot of the issue, if applicable).
For developers If you want to contribute to the project, feel free to contact me and we can discuss about things together.
You can leave feedback in this thread, on IRC, or by email. See contact for contact details.

works fine in safari too. Can you make it so that ship selection is like in the in game market menu? with a drop down at each hull size. That might make it a bit easier to choose.
Another suggestion is to choose mods from a list instead of typing the names in the search. I am assuming it could be done in a browser based tool too.
good work btw. +1 |

If I find an non-obtrusive way to do it, then maybe. With the current design, you can just focus the list and type in the first letters of the ship you want to select (for example, if you type "Meg" it will select the Megathron). Using something more fancy will probably break this feature.

It can be done, yes, but it would take lots of screen space, and I don't really know where I would put it. What you can do it put the modules you use frequently in your shortlist, to have them always directly accessible. |

Neato! Is there a way to add drones and especially charges within the main module fitting interface? This is particularly vital when considering cap stability in cap booster fits. |

No, you can't. What you can do is add your cap booster, put your charges in it then go back to step 2, if you really want. |

Alright, I worked on the ship select a bit, made it use the market categories.
You can test it here: http://osmium-test.artefact2.com/new
I need to find a way to make it keyboard-friendly, until then feel free to give your opinion/suggestions. |

Very nice, I like what you did with this. The only problem that I could find was, beyond the lack of eye-candy (irrelevant in the end), that searching for modules and having to build a shortlist like you mentioned is a little difficult when using a tablet or smartphone. I know you mentioned lack of space previously, but a dropdown menu of sorts would still be welcome.
Either way, really nice work. I'll certainly be keeping this one bookmarked for future use CAUTION

Hatsumi Kobayashi: thank you! I added a market-like browser now, and I used tabs in the right column to save space. I hope you like it!
Hrett: thanks. For the moment, no, the engine will assume all skills are level five. Supporting custom skillsets is planned, and isn't hard, but it would need a lot of new UIs to manage them properly, so it's not highest priority. I hope you understand. (I am also open to contributions, patches welcome!) |

You are a hero amongst heros! I tested it in -ugh- IE9 and it seems to work (didn't bother to check if the export file acually contained anything). =) I'll try to remember to send a small ISK donation next time I log in.
I REALLY look forward to fitting my ships on my iPhone. |

Big update!
Not only was the database updated (with the Inferno 1.2 changes), some new features were added, namely:
- Atom feeds available on the main page for new/updated loadouts
- You can vote on loadouts/comments, and gain reputation by getting upvotes
- Profile page now shows cast votes and reputation changes
- Available charges are now sorted by damage in the fitting creation page (and show the damage type)
- Show mining yield (in m-¦/h) in the attributes section (just in time for the barge changes!)
- Improved search of modules: try searching for "cn bcs", "rf tp", "a-type eanm", "dc2" or even "therm hardener ii", and you'll see how awesome it is!
I hope you like these changes, because I do! Feedback is always welcome. |

The IGB crashes on startup when EVE is run with WINE/Linux due to a fault browsing https:/. Next time you open it, ignore the wine fault go to Options - > General Settings and change it from the EveGate site to http://www.eveonline.com and save. Then in future when you first open it won't crash. |

Version 0.4.1 released, quicker than expected because the API server started acting a bit crazy and it was causing problems.
I set up a changelog page here: http://artefact2.com/osmium/changelog be sure to check it (it will be updated with new releases too) to see what changed.
Anyway. Osmium has been released for a month now, and I'm quite pleased about how it all went. Here are some numbers:
- 118 accounts created, 32 of those are API verified and 53 have submitted at least one loadout;
- 348 globally unique fits submitted (including loadout revisions, etc.) in 184 loadouts, 136 of those are public and visible (ie searchable);
- Most popular hulls: Skiff (7 loadouts), Thorax (7), Retriever (5), Procurer (5), Myrmidon (5), Tengu (5), Mackinaw (5) and Drake (5);
- Most popular modules: Heavy Neutron Blaster II (77 fitted), Medium CDFE I (77), Damage Control II (69), Invulnerability Field II (42), Ballistic Control System II (36);
- Traffic: about 4k unique visitors, 200k hits representing 550 MiB of bandwidth.
Keep it going, and thanks to everyone! |

After getting some feedback about the complicated domain, I bought a new one: http://o.smium.org
Hopefully this is easier to remember for everyone (and also shorter to type). Don't worry about links pointing to the old address, they will automatically be redirected to the new address.
Also, I've got some new stuff ready for 0.5.0 (see the todo-list), expect a new version soon! |

New version released (0.5.0). I'll let you read the changelog yourself here: http://artefact2.com/osmium/changelog
As usual, feedback welcome!
Also, if you like Osmium, try introducing it to your friends/corpmates, maybe they'll like it too |

Hey guys,
I've been working on improving the looks lately. Mainely I've switched to a dark color theme and added a few gradients here and there, and chose more consistent colors overall.
The preliminary feedback I got was good, I am still open to yours of course. This is in no way "a" "final" theme.

I plan on releasing it shortly in a week or so, still working on other minor stuff. |

Version 0.6.0 finally released. It includes the new theme and new URIs for private loadouts.
If you have posted links to private loadouts somewhere, you'll have to update them because they will no longer work. (Sorry about this, this is the last time this will happen.)
Feedback welcome! Again, you can contact me via IRC, email or here. |

Good work. The only think that has come to my mind so far is, the header texts ('Browse Loadouts', 'Presets', 'Attributes', mod browse headers, etc) would look better with a more subtle font type (Like the one which denotes mod slots).
