Ok, just finished watching the whole 2nd round and I have to agree that Briana really needs to shape up. Her commentary was slushed, rushed and gave away that she has very little understanding of the basic mechanics of EVE PVP. I do not think you can attribute this to 'commenting for newbies' as she is often saying things that make little sense or are outright wrong. But rather than just bash on the poor lass, here's a couple of suggestions on how to improve your commentary:
1) Take some time to acquaint yourself with the alliances and players (read forums, talk with other xperts, etc) and write some of this stuff down. You know who is going to be playing who on saturday, so having some insightful commentary on pilot and alliance history (in particular old rivalries) in tournaments and on TQ can help you fill those gaps with something other than fish. You did do this once or twice mentioning hero pilots from previous matches, which was probably the best part of your commentary so far.
2) Watch your fill words. You don't need to put the word 'actually' in every second sentence. The action in these matches happens fast and sometimes two or even three ships blow up while the commentator is finishing his point on how interesting it is that a webbed ship doesn't appear to be moving very fast. Try to keep your commentary short and precise and leave out unnessecary fill words.
3) If you have got nothing to say, don't. Of course this should not be taken to any kind of extreme, but it is entirely ok to have some brief pauses in the commentary where you gather your thoughts, find the next interesting point in the match and then comment on that.
4) Don't try to be funny. You're not a comedian and it's not your job to make us laugh. If you say something that ends up being funny that's fine, but if you're actually spending time trying to think of something funny to say, you're not thinking about what you're really there to do.
5) Watch the game. This may sound obvious, but in my experience (i commented on a some quake 3 arena matches back in the day) once you start talking it's very easy to forget to look at what's going on because you're focusing on what you're saying.
6) Practice. It makes perfect.

I can't actually understand what you're saying. It seems that you started with trying to defend her, but then you say

I think it was Verone in the match with the discophoons who was laughing, not her. No, she just sat there going on about how the discophoon team was not taking the tournament seriously.
Also, I have to say, the white knighters in this thread who bring out the sexism card do make me laugh sometimes. If it was a bloke going on about how the Tengu looked like a fish I'd be just as annoyed with him.
