"They have 2 curses to control enemy cap transfer" Wait what!? I didnt see any cap transfer...
"Its kinda stalemate with both teams not having much dps left" 2 Kronos and a stealth bomber = no dps??

It really makes me wonder if the commenters are required to provide commentary to pre-recorded matches as part of the application process and to practice on said recordings before the tournament.
Yeah yeah I know if I can do it better feel free to apply.
Anyone else think it'd be worthwhile to put in a 1-2 minute delay from live action and allow commenters to talk about fittings/setups etc without blowing it for the opponents. That way they wouldn't be guessing about what's going on?
Also what if the commenters had some background/bio information on the pilots/teams before hand. Like a sports commenter they'd be able to fill some dead air with useful info rather than scrambling to make noise.

If you don't like it why not stop watching? I for one like watching these matches and the commentary is not as bad as you all make it out to be. I know I would be nervous and therefore make mistakes if I knew thousands of people were listening to me and you guys making threads complaining surely isn't going to help.
Also if your going to complain why not get your facts right?

Just...just let Verone go it alone, wake Kil2 up, get Soundwave to comment, do something. I'm really not digging Brianna, bad target identification (Nighthawk !=Tengu), poor analysis (Cap transfer?), ignoring entire ships (Nighthawk? What Nighthawk?) and that's just today.

Commentating has been at a very poor standard. Missing kills, incorrect statements, incorrect ship identification...I could go on.
Are the commentators not vetted through a application process prior to gaining the position? Brianna, no offence intended, but you really need to do some research - you know nothing.
Ruining this years tournie tbh.

After last weekend I thought to myself; self maybe you were too harsh. Too intolerant. I asked if I could do better. Could I? Maybe, but we'll likely never know. However, these people, Brianna specifically, are chosen to commentate. And I have concluded after slipping on the headset for the first match and hearing her straight away that NO! No I wasn't too harsh.

Two things are needed for a good commentary (of any Game, I am a SC geek- some of the best commentaries of any game imo)
1. Excellent knowledge of the game that can be put in language that can be understood by everyone. Expertise comes through, but newbs can follow along.
2. The ability to have an engaging personally come through.
I honestly wouldnt care if some things are missed, it looks pretty hectic, but without these 2 elements, it is just a pain to listen too. I think maybe some tools for the commentators would help them not miss stuff... maybe thats a good idea for a major event
I listen to a lot of SC commentaries and my wife overhears them... I was watching this, she said "Michael, what are you listening too! These commentators are terrible!"

I've heard a lot of game commentators. And this is by far the worst job I've ever listened too.
No. I couldn't do it better (Mainly because English is not my native language), but that doesn't mean I can't hear the difference between rabble and professional commentary. Stuttering, "erhmm", "so..so so so", and **** like that shouldn't be in the vocabulary of a commentator. She has no observation skills at all. I'm wondering if she even watches the same fight as we are?
Her comments about the ships are... Well.. My forehead is red from all the facepalming I've been doing during this Alliance Tournament. Her knowledge about tactics, ship bonuses (Even her foolish comment about Tengu's being shield tanked.. That **** depends on the subsystems.. FRAAAAAAK), and the market situation on Bhaalgorns, and her continuous "KILL THE GRIFFIN" dilemma - Come on, it's NEVER gonna hold down any fraking ships with 4 med slots... Sigh..
Get someone in with more knowledge, someone who actually PvP's and knows how the ships work - Someone who's not just in it for the attention. Frak me.. It's embarrasing to be a EVE players. Especially when your friend who doesn't play EVE thinks she's retorted.

I'm enjoying it so far, do you really want expert players who know every term ever thought of in Eve while you can have people who are happy and smiley but also provide a good view of what is going on?
If you bring in a bunch of guys who just say what is going on to the exact details then watching this event will not be fun at all. This is all about fun, as you can see with some of the matches we have been getting today.

Why not have knowledgable commentators who can provide an entertaining and good view of what is going on?
It isn't so much what is said, but how it is being said. It is understandable that there are new players, and people not in eve who watch. Can be seen by new subscriptions during and after the tourneys. But stating the overly obvious, is annoying. Repeating yourself and talking in circles, its annoying repeating and talking in circles.

After listening to this for 3 days now, its starting to get from comical to sad. No offence brianna tempest. Your prob a lovly girl and everything.
Lets offer her a isk parachute, its nothing wrong with trying to commentating, and she did rly give it a nice try.
Sometimes some ppl cant do a job very good even if they try hard.
Lets raise a isk parachute to make it a bit easyer on her, as I dont personally feel any ill feelings agains her. She can go with her head stright, but please for the sake of the listeners, let her go.

The guy who comes in last at an Olympic race is still better than 99.99% of the worlds population. The guys that we are listening to may not be the best, but they are the best that our community has to offer.

Funny tho that its that huge leap between her and the rest of the commentators. its like (using your methafor) a Olympic skiier from kenya arriving 1.5h hour after the other guys, only reasons hes with the Ol is because kenya doesnt have any other skiiers. Does that make him suited as a expert Olympic skiier?

Although I understand that it must be a hard job to commentate, and that one is going to be nervous etc. I think that you should have a few skills under your belt before wanting to become a commentator such as the ability to sound confident under pressure and in front of an audience, but most importantly to know what you are talking about.
Alas, since I've come to believe that CCP don't understand their own game looking at some of the changes that they've made over the past couple of years that I've been about for, when looking for commentators they must have thought that Brianna's in depth knowledge about fish and her degree in stating the obvious fell in line with their own Eve knowledge :P

It's understandable that not all commentators have extensive knowledge of pvp or that they have no noticeable personality but the fact that CCP picked 3 commentators that have neither attribute is pretty bad really.

many of you are sounding like the muppets who complain about FCs. stfu and see if you can do better, remember there are no professional commentators here. kil2 is the only competent one so far, but let's see if the others can improve, at least she's already pronouncing scimitar correctly so she's moving in the right direction.
next tourney how about the CSM holds a commentator competition where the best join kil2? ofc all the whiners, especially those who think her gender has anything to do with anything, would leap at the chance to get on stage and compete eh?
edit/ my point is, she's not professional, some of the other commentators are worse, you couldn't do better, so be kinder...

You know, this thread (and those associated with it) remind me of the anti-Ankh campaign for CSM. Oddly enough, it's turning out to be just as effective.
You folks should put your name(s) in the proverbial hat next time, keeping in mind that the commentary isn't just for the bitter among us who've nothing better to do than practice their forum-fu - it's also for people who may be youtube'ing EVE, and don't understand the mechanics (even though some have been misstated, any match could be the first one a potential subscriber watches, and thus some of the "noob" commentary people seem to be whining about.)
IMO - so far, so good, commentary-wise. Looking forward to more live AT action tomorrow.

I'm an Eve nub, so I don't understand all of the nuances of PvP and this is the first tournament that I've watched. But I don't see how the commentators are really that bad.
Kil2 is obviously very good.
Verone started off a bit weak, has turned out to be very capable.
Darius seems to be a bit nervous, but he gets better every match. I find him to be quite likable.
Angelhun I find to be a very solid commentator.
All in all, the commentators make a very enjoyable event to watch, even better.

If you guys would have watched the video while listening you should have seen that none from Snatch was taking damage at that moment. With a little reasoning it's very obvious she meant there weren't any dps done at that moment, not that there weren't any damage potential. Maybe not the best choice of words, but it didn't take much to figure out what she meant.

First of all i want to say that i really got some respect for the task of commentating games. It really is not as easy as most ppl might think, did some commentating on a few tournys i organised within a corp i used to run.
Sadly i gotta agree to the ppl who are disappointed with the commentators in some matches. For the 1st time i was asking myself if the commentators are actually playing the game themselves.
Still.. try not to be to harsh... They are all just trying and when you think you can do better, apply as commentator for the next tourney and show us that you can do better ;).
