The Kadeshi fielded an illegal 101 point team.
Though it is unlikely the result of the match would have been affected by this 1 point, the tiebreak points easily could have been, so that Kadeshi have been penalised 10 points.

Why 10 points penalty and stoping the fight 9mins in? Due to this we get bumped out of semi-finals. And dont give me any bull**** about not being able to pull thru anyway we had that moa going down. So i demand a less or no points penalty.

Why did you bring 101 points if you wanted to get into the semis?
If you hadn't blatantly cheated (and still lost horribly to a far inferior setup) maybe you'd be advancing, hope that helps.

With all the respect u deserve, CCP CLAW, you should have done a better job on your part! You screwed up just as much if not more if u cant see this before the start of the match, yes we all make mistakes. THOR is well respected and i second Derwent's motion, give us a fair chance.. cos end of the day, you screwed up just as much if u cant decide and/or calculate the points yet penalise us half way through the match. FYI - moa was pretty much dead, active or not...

LOL. While I was initially rooting for Kadeshi, you did make a mistake in your math.
I think it's actually fair that Claw only deducted 10 points. He could have deducted the point cost of your most expensive ship (16 Points)... Or he could have deducted the average point cost of your ships (12.5 Points, assuming base of 100 points among 8 pilots.)
Yes, you could argue that he could have just deducted the point cost of your cheapest ship (3 points) but there is no way to tell which ship was the one that put you over your point limit (My logical assumption would be the 3 point ship as a "we have extra points, lets throw something in there, we have 2 points, Thrasher would work").
As far as "The GMs should have noticed it at the beginning of the match." It sometimes happens. Just because someone else didn't notice the mistake right away doesn't mean the mistake didn't happen.
Look at it this way, at least by ending the match early, they saved you at least 400mil in ships and mods :-) The art of war is of vital importance to the State. They were awarded full points because your team violated the rules, plus the 25% bonus for being the winner of the match.
Not that it matters... Dystopia won 2 matches, automatically making it to the next round. All their points would affect is who their possible opponent in the next round would be (but if I remember correctly, they don't use the points from this match to determine who fights who, just who makes it to the next round). From official rules:
Quote: 1. Each team has 100 points with which to select their ships. Teams must use a minimum of 50 points.
Quote: All penalties are incurred at the tournament organizer's discretion. Decisions are final. Penalties may be levied against a player or team and may include but are not limited to: ... * Ban from competing for one or more matches. * Ban from competing for the remainder of the tournament, and/or any future tournaments.
Seems pretty straightforward to me. Math is hard.

if that was true shouldnt kadeshi get 0 points then? ccp claw is beeing very inconsistent whit his rulings here. kadeshi ****ed up yes, but so did the referee. done is done and i think there is 0% chance that kadeshi will go thru now. but there would be good if these type of things are ironed out. arbitrary rulings doesnt make a good show.

Whoops! Looks like someone didn't make it to the final weekend.
Maybe next time you'll remember to count your own points instead of relying on a dev to catch your mistake pre-game.
And according to the rules, CCP Claw can do whatever he wants to penalize you. Up to and including banning you from all future tournaments in addition to this one.

However, placing the blame for the points mess up instead of accepting the blame isn't going to earn you sympathy. In a prior tourney when this was discovered the offending team lost a random ship which happened to be a logi. I'm not sure how many pilots you fielded but all of them could have picked up the mistake prior to the match start.

The simple fact is that Dystopia demolished you and you had an extra point; you barely killed the ships you did as is, and you were not going to kill anything else (which is why the match was stopped). This is called adjudication. Honestly, you're lucky you got as many points as you did, as without that Taranis charge (if we'd removed a ship before the match) you probably wouldn't have had the Basilisk either.
Anyway, yes i should have spotted it before the match, but that doesnt excuse an illegal setup.

I assume the 10 points lost eliminates them from tourny. If not they should be disqualified.
I believe that the time it took to kill the one ship which would have been destroyed prior would have been spent on killing something else. Meaning a far different result would have happened. I assume the 10 points lost eliminates them from tourny. If not they should be disqualified.
I believe that the time it took to kill the one ship which would have been destroyed prior would have been spent on killing something else. Meaning a far different result would have happened. In favour of dystopia.
If only they had fielded one point less. Maybe dystopia could have won that match

Now that the cat is out of the bag, let me state that the sum we paid Kadeshi to field a 101 point setup was one Mimir.
Hope everyone liked the explosions and the forum trolling.

Anyway, yes i should have spotted it before the match, but that doesnt excuse an illegal setup.

You may be 100% correct, and yet, that's poor form. There are plenty of people in this thread already smacking them. As judge of the alliance tournament, you should be above that.

Incompetent and biased. If you let the match start you should have let it finish and there should be no penalty at all for this. It appears CCP only penalizes the teams they don't like.
Did RED Overlord get penalized for illegal players? No. WTF should The Kadeshi get penalized?

your logic is failing here. the fact that they barely killed the ships they did and probly wasnt going to kill anything else have never been grounds to stop a match before, right? i remeber seeing plenty of benny hill chases. second you admit its your job to check no ones starts whit an illegal setup. you cant punish kadeshi for your failings, no matter how stupied they where.
i also agree whit koronos, as a ccp employee you should be above second grade trolling. especially when you already have the entire forums whit you. you come of very amateurish doing so.

Seems pretty straightforward to me. Math is hard.
That would be great except CCP dont stick to rules, they change them as they see fit and penalise teams so randomly its a joke.
Ill quote you some more rules shall i...

Lets see, WE FORM VOLTRON should not be in this tournamnet at all according to these hard and fast rules, oh wait, no these rules are wrong as CCP allowed them in.
Also as said above, RED OVERLORD fielded an illegal player in both matches yet received no penalty at all? Gee something really smells bad with these decisions.

The point limit is setup that way for a so you do not field extra points, the 60 day rule was setup so that alt alliance wouldn't be setup and those alliances wouldn't have team a, team b, team c. If you cant see the difference you are more ******ed then I thought possible and all hope is lost for you being able to actually comprehend anything said or mention in this post. That is a bit of a red herring. But since you want to go that way, no, I do not think they should be penalized the same, but if you get a ticket for driving 75 in a 55 zone, you'll still have to pay a penalty, the same as if you broke into a house and stole a TV. The penalty may be different, but there should be a penalty.
Allowing a team to use an illegal pilot to win a match should be penalized, and not by "penalizing" them on future matches by not letting him fly.

Oh wow, this thread is comedy gold! Are you all the same person or what?
The fact is that CCP Claw has done a far better job getting and keeping this tournament together than any of us have any realistic reason to expect. For all the infractions of the rules so far he has responded with very fair decisions. The difference between the other two cases (VOLTRON and ROL) and the Kadeshi make this whole whinefest unimportant. As soon as we realized that something was horribly wrong we petitioned and mailed the hell out of any CCP employee we thought might have some ability to help us and ACTUALLY BEGGED ON THE FORUMS for CCP Claw to allow us to compete. Every one of our pilots would have, if not for that couple of days when CCP was deciding what to do with us, had the required 60 consecutive days in alliance. If you had noticed that you were fielding 101 points before the match begun (STILL your responsibility...not Claw's) then more than likely you would have been given a bit more leniency.
Eve is generally a game that punishes the stupid move. What makes you think that crying and pointing your fingers at the devs because life isn't fair and it was deemed that rol's infraction, WHICH IS A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT INFRACTION THAN YOURS, means that yours should go unpunished will generate the level of sympathy obviously believe you deserve?

To take the words out of your corp: Shut up and play.
I'm not an alt for any of the involved alliances. As far as with WFV, you all knew the rules of the tournament and chose to leave your alliance and rejoin for whatever reason. If that's the case, then you should be DQ'd because, again to take words from you, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to stay in the alliance until the tournament. It wasn't a surprise rule sprung on you. You knew ahead of time.
However! ROL was an established alliance that existed for longer than 60 days, and thus should not have been allowed to compete with a newer player. They had plenty of other players to choose from. The reason this situation shouldn't be allowed, is because if you have an alliance that is in the AT, and has some good pilots, they could gather other good pilots from other alliances to form a "super team" of some of the best pilots with a very good chance of winning. The pilots would then get the prizes (I BPC with x number of runs, or whatever, and split the rewards.)
Also, I do think that Kadeshi should be punished. If you read my posts, you'll see that I want rules to be followed. I don't want Kadeshi to get off scott-free.
I also believe Agony Empire should be have their first round win revoked, because it should not be possible to simply get dominated and just buy the win as was the case. They'd have gotten 0 points if they didn't pay for a win. It's despicable that such a thing was allowed to happen.

FFS stop posting with your alts.
So basically what I got out of that is: "I'm not involved but I want things done my way or I'm going to cry for three forum pages so far."
Got it, teach me to argue with an idiot.

This tournament have run so much better than any other tournament I've witnessed... Great respect for the level of awesomeness created by "The Claw!!"
The rulings so far IMO seems not 100% perfect, but it's damn close and the rulings go within the intentions of the rules which makes sense.

just a small thing
people are going on about Claw being inconsistent in his adjudication of penalties in he docks points from Kad and just wrist slaps RED,
the rules say all punishments are up to him and at his discretion, there is no promise of consistency, balance or fairness, its there in the rules that CCPClaw may punish any rules violation to his own personal whim, so in a sense he is PERFECTLY within the rules of the tourney,
now if you want to campaign for the Tourney 9 rules creating a standard format for penalties and impartial adjudication fair enough but this time round feel the CLAWBAT
and btw that moa was only going to explode in the next 10min if he flew out of bounds

this... goes to show how biased CCP Claw is in regards to ROL and WFV, due to having friends in both those alliances. Pity the Kadeshi have no CCP alts / friends otherwise they wouldn't have been docked any points either.

well seems our team made a f***up math wise, however the gm always inspects the setups before the match..they do that every year with all teams.if a setup has an illegal mod fitted it will be removed and if a setup is'nt correct pointwise 1 of the ships will be excluded.
in this case the gm aproved the setup before the match meaning u r cleared to play.
now since kadeshi got cut off with 9 minutes left and with aproval of a gm that aproved the fit..the 9 missing minutes have to be compensated..so either replay the match completely or remove the penalty the team got meaning kadeshi goes thrue to the next round....

yes the first spreadsheet link someone posted was fail with bad math on it, as that one had the Romanians waay down
i guess that table was how they wished the points were,
but yeah as to all this blah blah it was approved,
please stop kadesh its simple
1. The refs not catching you pre-match doesn't matter the rules don't say if we don't notice by X ah well roll on, the rules say break rules get penalty
2. The rules say Penalties are whatever Claw says they are,
as i said before if you want to campaign for standardized penalties in the future and clear rules for regulating the tournament fair do, submit it in the audience hall and make a non biased case, youll quite likely get my support not because i think Claw is biased or bribeable, but because it leaves things in one person's whim which can be subject to outside events, (if its a good or bad day for him)
as for now quiet child if you had got through odds are one of the ACTUALLY GOOD teams would have kicked your ass's seven ways to sunset in the first elimination stage

I think the point is that ROL would have done just as well with any other pilot in the matches, as where Kadeshi could they have gotten enough kills to still have put them through to the end with a ship missing? probably not and even if so they only got enough points to be qualified from getting kills in the game the fielded too many ships...
anyways im glad they let the ROL games go as well as kadeshis because they were good matches to watch oh well people are still advancing based off skill be it at space ships or math.

Voltron got disbanded because someone got ****y. They got to reform and CCP decided to not let 1 person screw up something like this.
Red Overlord. A single guy who wasnt suppose to be in the game. You had a entire SHIP that wasnt suppose to be their. that is a huge advantage compared to a pilot since they could have grabbed anyone else from their alliance.
Anyways the rule was to stop what happend last time, which was the 1st time they got rid of the 1st come 1st server rule for the Tournment spots. People made alt alliances to increase their chances on getting a spot. One alliance even sold their spot to allow a team to join and play in the tournement.
So to make it fair for everyone they decided to make the 60day alliance rule so alt alliances could not be formed just to increase someones chances of getting a spot.(not what red overlord did)

Is selling a spot so someone can compete somehow worse than selling an actual WIN in the tournament? Wow, that makes a lot of sense. If the team bought their way into the tournament and won, well they deserved to be in there obviously. If a team buys a win from another alliance (After letting the other alliance get maximum points) so both alliances get into the next round, while an alliance that played FAIRLY does not get in, that is a sham and a farce. There is no "competition" in this tournament, it's just a farce to see who gets CCP Claw off the best. Keep hanging around down there on your knees, kids. You point fingers at other teams who broke different rules in an attempt to discredit Claw. (You failed at that BTW. The rules state he can hand out whatever penalty he wants and you can't appeal it. You read the rules didn't you?)

Learn to count FFS and take your smack on the peepee like a man.
Actually, you entirely miss the point. No one was caught cheating at the time of the infraction. The Kadeshi commited a minor infraction by fielding a team which was one point over the maximum allowed. As a result of this, their match was stopped before the time limit was reached, AND they were docked ten points.
Meanwhile, RED.OVERLORD commited a similar minor infraction in not ONE match but TWO and were allowed to continue on into the finals "in the spirit" of the tournament.
BOTH teams broke the rules, spirit be damned, and yet the team punished most severely are actually newcomers to the tournament. Meanwhile, tournament veterans are let off with an "Aww, you didn't read the rules and fielded an invalid character for BOTH of your matches.. that's so cute."
That's pretty messed up right there..
Kadeshi - GJ in your first AT, but you have to work on your bedside manner.
P.S. - Viper ****zle: Even if Minigin cries on teamspeak, you're still one of the worst poasters in EVE history. Enjoy that.
Quick, someone tell me to post with my main..

5 pages? Didnt Viper win thread on page 1 with a post pointing out you are awful, cheated, and then still lost.....
So HMV consider Andy Williams and Dean Martin to be "easy listening" do they? Tell that to my mate Dave, he's been deaf for 20 years.

The Kadeshi aren't newcomers to the tourney, they've been in like 3 or more counting this one.
What does ROL have to do with this anyway ? Completely different rule violations and situations, different vioalations merit different penalties.
PS; viper is terrible

Edited by: Ty''lem Vek on 15/06/2010 15:21:06 Not disagreeing with you there.. but they *were* both relatively minor infractions.. I just find it odd that one team got the peepee slap o' Doom from Claw, and the other got.. well, nothing.
Also, just to clarify my noobishness - I really thought this was Kadeshi's first tournament.. I mean, that IS why they did so poorly, right?
I did, however, enjoy the all blaster Caldari team. I really don't think anyone saw that coming.

-10 points isn't a big penalty :P
it was just bad luck for kadeshi that it stopped them from advancing - that's not claw's fault and it doesn't make the punishment unreasonable
you could argue that ROL's punishment is worse since they already trained that pilot and he's part of their team (possibly an important part) now he can't take part anymore and they have to find someone to replace him
Would be crippling for us if all of a sudden we couldn't use the mighty NTRabbit on our teams

It's dumb to think we cheated intentionally. If this was really the case do u really think we would cheat by fielding 1 extra point on the field? This was our 4th tourny we are fully aware of the rules and penalties I just think its ****ed up to stop the match and deduct 10 points and its stings extra that if one of the two penelties would of not been implied we might of sailed thru to next round.
The reason we did field 101 points however was due to me ****ing up with a last minute intoxicated change. One of the two vagas was supose to be a huginn which is one less point but dumb as I was I didnt double check the points.

I never thought I'd see the day when controversy struck EVE because players and CCP employees didn't use spreadsheets.
C'mon, people. It would take, like, 2 minutes to make and 15 seconds to fill out for each fight.
Not. That. Difficult.

If ROL would have got -10 punishment they wouldnt have gone thru, so your gona have a hard time argueing that.

touchT
i think we've all learned a valuable lesson here, don't lose matches and you won't have to worry about -10 points preventing you from advancing !

if they got a -10 punishment the first time they would have been fighting LR instead of co2 which imo would have been better for them.

In fairness, CCP are running the tourney so it's their rules.
If you don't like it, complain about it more on the internet.
