I think that other than a small minority of players - most notably those who feel it's appropriate to make a duplicate thread to complain about a feature or lack of feature from CCP - the eve community is smart enough to stay and enjoy the existing game, which is currently being improved every week.

Icelandic executives have form when it comes to making decisions that have fatal consequences for their companies.
Bugs are bearable if you believe that hey are being worked on and a fix will be coming. Otherwise customers just tend to close the socket (hint, hint) on the under-performing supplier.

It depends whether or not Jumpgate Evolution, Black Prophecy, Guild Wars 2, or TOR suck or not. I don't think being able to be a space bartender is going to keep me playing, you know?

Hey moron, the CSM minutes were just announced. You should look up the definition of original before making terrible posts.
This situation is complete and utter garbage, and people should be beating pots and pans on not just this forum, but any of the popular MMORPG boards.
And sure, you can have my stuff.... in 18 months.

I doubt it. It seems incomprehensible that they'd really be so boneheaded as to epic fail the way they seem to want to in the CSM minutes. And its not like it's a smear campaign by the CSM because CCP edited the document and approved it. They seem to think its ok to let horribly broken **** sit for 2+ years?
TBQFH, I am probably going to end up voting with my wallet here. It won't be immediately, for sure.... but I'm feeling like by the time CCP gets around to fixing the game I play today that I'll have 2+ years invested in another MMO.

I've resisted the temptation to jump on the "eve is dying" bandwagon since 03. (Yes, people were saying it was going to die before the game started proper.) However how can you possibly read their response to CSM any other way?
There decision to push DUST/Incarna over fixing the ****ing game will, possibly, go down as the worst decision since STG patch of doom.
No offense brah, but this decision is an embarrassment to the company.
"Excellent is what we strive to be..." don't make me bloody laugh.

First of all, why all the "bro" "brah" stuff? I prefer m8 if you are gonna use something silly like that.
Secondly, I really don't like this sort response by CCP either but I honestly don't think it's gonna kill the game. Cost some subs? maybe. I have absolutely no interest in dust or incarna but I imagine lots of other people (coming from other games perhaps) will like that sort of functionality. The major problem is going to be when they roll out this stuff after 18 months and it is still broken. Then I will be really ****ed.
In any case, Eve is not dead and I am still looking for free stuff.

Doesn't take a degree in finance to understand new products are going to net them more than improvements to EVE, which has always had a small diehard fanbase. If they thought improving EVE would get them a million subscribers over the next year, you better believe they'd have more fixes on the way, but that's not the case and it never will be. Eve is small beans in the MMO community of today. Accept the fact that we're lucky it's not any worse than it currently is, given it's age.
I'm not towing the party line here, or suggesting that nobody should quit because omg it's going to be better soon, but tbh it's your money and your time. If you aren't having fun, cancel your sub. If enough people aren't having fun and start canceling, that's how the message comes across. Regardless of the craptacular (I agree) minutes from the CSM, threads like this aren't going to turn any heads at CCP and I really hope you aren't naieve enough to think that popular opinion of the players matters.

I've heard this one before (from ccp, not you.) If I might crosspost:

No, it won't, and I am surprised how so unaware some of you are in this respect. If Eve is the only MMO you've played, this is excusable. I have played several, and a long time theme I notice in almost everyone is the veteran players claiming that the devs have killed the game, that it is going to fail soon because of X or Y change, etc. 90 percent of the time this is baseless and has no merit in reality. The only time I have seen this play out is in starwars galaxies, where changes made to that game really did sink it. Be that as it may, I think this falls into the 90 percent category, ie: not going to happen.

Seems to me that "senior players" aren't such a bad barometer of an MMO's impending demise. The MMO market is littered with corpses where the senior players accurately predicted doom - perhaps repeatedly, but always successfully.
Not that I think this will necessarily kill Eve.

really? Do you know how long WoW players have been claiming the game is going to die? Heck even both EQs still exist even though players claim otherwise. Senior players arent a good barometer, they are just out of that comfort zone. The senior players got set in on how a game was, and got so used to it they hate any changes.
Its sort of like, say you go to a restruaunt for a long time and you like a particular item on the menu, but then after a few years they change the recipe and it doesnt uite taste the same to you. Doesnt mean the food wont sell, but that you might not be used to it.

Kind of a odd thing to state.
Simple example. If the senior players keep saying the game will die, they will eventually be right. Do take into account that they'll have to keep saying it for years upon years to be able to actually claim they were right all along.

Honestly I don't think CCP will "die" if CCP won't fix the bugs and incoveniences. 1. Many of them already exist for more than 18 months and the playerbase hasn't decreased; 2. Veterans are less and less likely to give up their years of investment the longer they play.

Yes I also think the "small diehard fanbase" is the thing that makes CCP look further. The income generated by 300,000 accounts isn't really a lot for an international firm. Of course it's also due to the lacking tutorial and other things that won't make people stick so also CCP's own priorities that are due to this fact. But I agree, with 3 million subs this wouldn't be happening.

Already ahead of you, while there's no actual new good MMO's out there there are some gems that are now free to play, DDO being one of them. While it most certainly doesn't have internet spaceship or PVP it's refreshing and a nice change of pace.
CCP better start working.

Really, DDO free? I did some betas for that game some time ago and decided it was too buggy and limited, didn't know it was for free now!
But yes I agree, EVE should watch out for other Sci Fi games, they're lucky most aren't very successful thus far. Especially younger players who don't have a lot (of SP) to leave behind in EVE may jump the bandwagon once that happens, nothing nicer than making a new start where all players start equally and discovering a new world without the help of myriads of on-line guides because everything's been done, seen and discovered already.
