Who remembers this game? Who remembers flying down the side of a battleship from one end to another taking about 30 seconds? Who remembers the bombers you could fly? Who remembers interceptors shooting down torpedos? Who remembers their jaws dropping when watching the Colossus engage that Shivan battleship?
Damn I miss that game. I have the first and the second along with the expansion for the first. Good story, excellent graphics and sounds (at the time), briliant shooter I thought. Weaving in and out of destroyers and battleships along with their awesome beam weaponary was just soo much fun.
Anyone else remembers this game? |

I remember flying between two battle ships in a nebula. I couldn't see either of the ships but then suddenly you could hear their beam weapons charging and they started slugging it out with me dog fighting between them dodging the enemy ships and the beam weapons cris crossing the combat area.
I'm going to have to re install that now....

Edited by: Cetshwayo on 21/12/2004 16:00:28 Oh yes. fighting in nebulas was amazing as well. Can hardly see anything and suddenly this huge red beam crosses your path lol. Insta-death if you flew in it . The shear size of the ships and beam weapons were awe-inspiring. Shame Volition is no more

Loved freespace, the first and second were both great. I loved doing a bombing run on a capitol ship. The online play was fun also.
On the box it showed the scale of the ships, huge capitol ships and the tiny little ships. Wish there could have been more in that series.
These are just my views and they could be wrong.....often wrong if you listen to my wife. |

Yeah the intro to FS2 was epic. All these giants ships roll past at the end, and you think "Wow they are huge". Then the Collosus comes past and your like -----------------

Remember when i first got freespace, the intro blew me away, had never seen cgi quite so nice.
That was just the setup for what was an amazing game, it was just so fluid compared to the other space games id played before.. colony wars ect....
Think the best memory was the sound of the shivan fighters zooming past you... amazing.
Tempted to reinstall, few years ago i bought the fs2/cfs double pack for a tenner, be well worth visting it back for christmas.
*dusts off the old topgun joystick. ------------------------

LOVED both of them. Can't get FS1 to run under XP though. But there is a way to port the missions to FS2.
Since they realeased the source code to FS2 leagally on the net, there are tons of great mods for it including an awesome Bab-5 mod. EVE-I.com~THE Info source |
