I miss FRED2  Made some amazing missions for that game. Having a massive fleet (bigger than the ones in EVE probably) with beams shootin everywhere is just simpy briliant. First time I played the last mission (and lost it obviously  ) I knew I just had to keep going at it. It's just a simply briliant game and I doubt any other space-sim can best it.

lol the first time I played the last mission I tried desperatly to keep all the ships alive, I must have redone the mission a dozen times before I finally kept every transport except for 1 alive, only to find out it didn't matter one bit =P
Heck even multiplayer was a great time, I'm still ****ed they didn't make a Freespace 3 =(

that's just a rumor tho... he has't got the licence for it as yet.( dunno if he's gonna get it )

From what i remember, Derek Smart toyed with the idea of buying the rights to the title... but the outcome was, the arcade'ish concept of Freespace doesn't really fit with his idea of 'fun' so he's going to stick to making games set in his own universe...

Yea I also remember Derek Smart wanting to create Freespace 3. Thank your deity of choice that he didn't go through with it.

Man i remember freespace 1 and 2
heh the first time i saw the battleship no not the super capital ships like santhanos but like the other real big ones lol was sweet flying by and engaging fighters right by the huge ships hull or flying in and engaging a huge (shivan sp?) fleet
ya it was great def recommend u play it imo its alot better then freelancer and such clones

The PVP was a blast in that game, I loved that corkscrew manuver when you had cluster missiles on your tail.
