Just when I was going to complement CCP on how well DDT was going... You guys screw up again. Seriously fire your current network administrator and get a new one. In the business world **** like this would get you fired on the first time. Screwing up a DB is not a little issue. If you guys were a bank or an investment firm it could cost you and your clients a lot of money. Flame me I dare you. |

So to pass the time - a joke.
What's the difference between playing EVE 6 months and being married 6 months?
After 6 months EVE just keeps going down on you more and more.

CCP, i like that you now instantly announce issues and try to provide an ETA, that is an improvement.
Now try to improve the time you give people to safe up. So please, give people at least 5 minutes before you crash us all out of the game.

Isn't it about time you devoted a truckload of programming time to developing a slew of DB monitoring/integrity scripts? What you have is apparently not nearly enough as 90% of all unscheduled DTs are caused by DB fail.

Don't you think the warning could have been to try and save your stuff? If the database was ****ed then any extra stuff you did could be lost or corrupted.....better that then the alternative.
you may be right. I have no knowledge of how databases work in an online game, if this is the case I take back what I said! Best listen to a bit of eve radio while they fix it then! http://complete.gamingradio.net/everadio?player=true
Its ''starting up now'' should not be too long Well I posted something, You will prob disagree. But its my opinion SO keep it to yer self.

I know it's not your fault, and I say this calmly. But I'm thinking that some form of compensation is due now that DT has been extended beyond the alloted 1 hour on 3 occassions. Sure, we get to continue training. But 1 hour is long enough for me to have cleared a L4 WC netting around 30m ISK or so...
Ah well... forget it... just speaking to a wall and my head's sore.

How about you get those techies back from SC2 leave and back to work? For a game that has daily 1h maintenance break you can't really add extra hours of surprise downtimes.

Sorry the game doesn't have serious flaws, it has some issues. Serious flaws are Wathammer end game that didn't work because very time the servers fell over (btw 1000 man blobs are one type of eve end game so don't even tbring that into it) Also there are plenty of games that go down over and over and they are not 320 thousand people on one shard.
I've played eve in 2004/2005 and I started playing again last year seriously and the difference in downtime is significantlky different and the game is less broken than then.
I'm also sooooo fed up of the incarna moans because all of last year I read "I want to walk in stations" over and over and over and now they are giving it to you (Will have to be a new graphic system for it you know...oh you don't? Shame) and giving it a reason to be added too (PI/DUST) and all I hear is moan moan moan moan moan. If you ask you get and you are getting.
Take comfort in knowing that its probably some pimply faced twit, or 40 year old virgin, who gleens everytime mommy offfers to take them to needle point lessons |

You go girl!
I love how when you quote a post you get to see all the naughty words. ;)
Can't argue with that though CCP, another unhappy customer being bent over by your pursuit of building innovative products to screw punters out of their hard earned.
If poor ol' MonteCarlo was to email you and say, "Hey bro' I'm a tad short this month can you cut me a few days so my POSes don't all go offline and I get reamed by the local pirate corp?"
You would cut the poor bastard off at the knees. But you seem to be able to lazily code whatever.

I had just jumped into a level 2 mission called "Recon (1 of 3)". I didn't bother to bring a ship that would actually be able to take on the ships in the pocket because all I really needed to do was rush the gate and hold out till I reached it. Half way to the gate, I get the 20 second notice. Time to decide.. ..jump to a station or continue to the gate. I stay on course and make it to the gate. I make the jump, then realize the next pocket is even more loaded with nasties. I target a station and initiate a jump.. ..game shuts down. Hope my Thorax is there when I get back.
Could have been worse, I suppose. I could've been on part 3 of 3. That's where you are in a toxic cloud that does progressively worse damage to your ship.
20 seconds? Really???
Originally by: K'reemy G'udness I think the kind of person who's going to do well at eve is the autodidact. This game requires self teaching, and what that doesn't cover, pain will do the rest.

Tranquility is now up and accepting connections. We have diagnosed that the problem concerned the inventory database which has now been fixed. We apologize for any inconvenience.

what it boils down to this, this is the true reason behind the crying and whining: Many people who play WOW are looking for something new and different , they already get generic MMO from WOW. People who are whining and crying right now aren't the targetted audience. This is the reason WAR failed, everyone that was the potential player base for WAR, logged into WAR and found that it wasn't like WOW. They tried to play it like it was WOW, and they got upset that it wasn't a clone of WOW. They logged out for good, and went back to wow. in WAR if you went to the warcamps at level 10 and above, everyone would sit around right infront of the battleground queue NPC, and keep requeuing, like it was WOW's BG system. the truth of the matter is, they need to make it like wow, and they need to get the playerbase of wow to succeed in the market. It must improve upon what wow does, but still have the same systems/ nothing too unfamiliar

Ok the truth is theres absolutely nothing wrong with the DB,
its just CCP employees are taking bets as to how many whiners will post their utter rage and frustration in this thread, while CCP have a side-splitting laugh at them in the process
