Edit to my above post...
Apparently the problem was NOT in my client nor in my settings at all, but something which changed after the last patch, because what I did above worked, and I'm able to play perfectly well, as long as I DO NOT switch to Fullscreen...
As soon as I click the option for EVE to appear in Fullscreen, the client minimizes and will not open for more than a second or two (at most) Fullscreen WAS possible before the last patch, but not anymore...
Oh well, playing in windowed mode makes it easier to watch vids....

Doesn't work here. Was already running it in Windowed Mode, and even if I tried I couldn't press the keys fast enough before it crashes - It dies before it even appears in the taskbar.
System stats:
Windows XP 32-bit ATI Radeon 4600 Intel Core 2 Duo 3GHz 3.24 (4) GB RAM (Don't know the type)

I have found the bug, with mine anyway, then hunted it down and killed it. The problem was McAfee Antivirus - Even though I'd uninstalled it years ago, it left a few rogue services running on my system that I only found by chance in the system configuration utility. Removing these resulted in victory.
My advice (Win XP):
1) Go to the Start menu and select Run. 2) Enter msconfig and run it. A window (System Configuration Utility) should pop up with a bunch of tabs. Warning, screwing around with this program can muck up your computer, so be careful! 3) Go to the Services tab. 4) Check 'Hide all Microsoft services' 5) Look through the remaining, shorter list for anything McAfee-related. 6) If you see any services with the McAfee name, and do not use the software, find and download the McAfee removal tool here. 7) Run it. 8) Restart your computer when prompted. 9) On startup, go back into msconfig and ensure that the McAfee services are gone. 10) Play EVE.

-.- 6 days and still not even a word from CCP. If this isn't fixed by two days after my training queue finishes, I'm unsubbing. Tired of games that can't fix problems for their paying customers.

m8 ccp wonders why their sub-count is low, this is one of the many reasons. Their customer service sucks worse than a truckstop rat hooker with no teeth... Atleast other games try to hide the fact that they dont care, CCP makes it blatant that "WE GOT KEWL STUFF TO DO, EVE FPS IS IMPORTNT!" rather than trying to keep their veteran customers they want new ones that will probably leave anyway cause they will run into the same problem as we are now. oh, on the other hand, did you read my sig?

We have a potential fix for the crash on startup on the current Singularity client. Please let us know if this resolves the crash issue that occurs when starting the Eve client.
Steps to setting up an install for Singularity can be found here. The current Singularity patch can be downloaded from here.
Please remember to create a copy of your Tranquility client before applying the patch. The Singularity client is not compatible with Tranquility.

Easy for me to talk since my EVE is now working, but...
I think part of the reason CCP is silent is because they honestly don't know what the problem is, and that's likely because there seems to be no one specific problem. It's a case-by-case thing, and it always takes longer to find out the cause of something that only happens with a few specific people in a few isolated circumstances than something that happens to everyone all the time. It would be nice if they could, but it's believable why they can't.

Comrades, we have gotten an answer, but, only thing we get, is "Well, we're not going to fix it, so, here's a way around the problem, since we can't fix it."
Well... I'm glad if I just get my own training que back up for a while, but until then.. I'd be glad if I Tranquility back on.

I'm personally going to try and install Singularity, to see if there'll be a change within the crash, or of it's something else.
However, the repairtool included in the Singularity patch, found a broken fraction of my Eve-install, and the other repairtools I have tried, haven't found any such errors.
Something is fishy.
Edit 2:
When installing the Singularity patch, even after having ran a prior Repair tool, it still encountered an error, and I told the repairer to fix the error. Everything went smoothly, it seemed to fix itself. HOWEVER. Close to the finishing of the repairing, this error occurred:
Last 5 lines in the repairprogram: " 1282652702.625 - Frame_ReadChunk in fileSync.pyc at line 225: 1282652702.625 - self = <fileSync.CalculateRanges instance at 0x0190AAD0> Python Exception: python exception error "
This might help the Dev's?
I get the same error when i try to patch from TQ to Singularity
"Repair Aborted" "Repair was unsucessfull. To get full installer visit [webpage]"
4 last lines: " 1282659438.523 - Frame _ReadChunk in fileSync.pyc at line 225: 1282659438.523 - self = <fileSync.CalculateRanges instance at 0x035E7D50> Python Exception: python exception error "
So what is that Python thing which screws up the client?

I can now enter EVE, with the Singularity patch. Patching went smoothly. Now I'm only awaiting the Tranq patch that solves this issue...

It seems the repair tool isn't working for the Sisi build as well :/
Try copying a fresh TQ client, and only applying the fallback patch (http://content.eveonline.com/test/evepremiumpatch174282-175988_test_m.exe) against the copied build.

Ill make a new install of the TQ in some other folder and then apply the patch on that.

It's definitely a case-by-case basis.. The Mcaffey (yeah, I didn't spell it right, but I'm too tired to care) has nothing to do with a lot of us (I don't have/never have had/never will have ANY of their crap on my PC)..
People need to stop and try to imagine how many different PCs EVE is installed on and of those, how many are using different OSes with different service packs/updates/versions/etc.. It's not possible to account for all errors... Yeah, this should've been addressed immediately (as in within a 48 hr time period from second report) but, no one should ever die of starvation in the modern world either... Crap happens..
The repair tool has never worked right for me, and the test server install has never been able to complete properly [think I'll try that link in this thread soon], but there's always been something I (or someone I talked to from CCP) could do to get the client running again within a few days... CERTAINLY not perfect, but all things considered, CCP is doing an adequate job... Now is the time to decide whether you're okay with "adequate" devs (not ALL are merely adequate, and truth be told, that's probably not even an accurate perception..even though it's a growing consensus) in an "excellent" game world or not.. For me, it's an easy answer.. I'll be around for a LONG while.... UNLESS rockets don't get some SERIOUS attention within the next few MONTHS [like not 1/2 a year from now]

That worked but fullscreen doesent work as when trying to get into the game it automaticly "Tabs out" back to windows but after being fast and pressing ALT + ENTER to enter window mode. So game works now.
Now all that is needed is to wait untill the patch comes out to TQ.

Same here, Splash screen shows up, then exits and a dialog box "CCP ExeFile encountered a problem and need to close..." pops up. All the usual stuff didn't help (updating drivers, clearing cache, re-installing client). My training queue runs out 25.08. 06:43. Of course there won't be a fix in place in time for that, but i sure hope this gets fixed as fast as possible. And i sure as hell hope there'll be some kind of reimbursement or compensation coming our way, or ccp can say goodbye to this paying subscriber.

fix main server, kthnkx. Please roll back the server then play around with the coding. Please please please. Atleast role back the python change, cause thats what is causing the problems for the windows clients. I have yet to see alot of Mac users complain. Oh, a pirates word means a lot. If a pirate and a carebear say "I'll kill you", whom do you trust more to uphold his end of the bargain?
Anyway, my skill queue ran out this morning, so ccp, a fix would be VERY MUCH APPRECIATED, THANK YOU! I know it's just interweb spaceships, but still...

You dumb jackass. That's what the testserver is for, trying out new methods that might improve the game, and, for that matter, this is really improving the game, and the testserver is giving them a chance of testing it, before they launch out a new patch that screws everyone else up. The fact that the testserver is working, is a good sign. That means they've identified the possible problem, and a solution is under way.
Calm the **** down a bit.
