Paper and pencil is fine, don't give up!
Good concepts do not need big amounts of rendering etc. Just focus on the essential parts. Also the semi-finalists will win $50 iTunes credits.

Hey.. look at me. I consider myself a quite reasonable modeler (max, inventor, practically any cad/3d prog you throw at me I can work with. But I lack imagination.. I practically can't design something that isn't practical and somehow related to my real world and/or sitting in front of me.
Now if there is a sketch of it.. 2-3 views with the idea behind it, completely other story.. but thinking of something fantasy out of my head? Near impossible.
Hope that gets you up.
Btw: I just LOOOOVE John Berkeys work. Whish there where house-designs like that. Awwwww

It's "uncoloured line drawings/renderings."
means you can submit a drawing or a render of a 3d model, but has to be uncoloured/all in the same color.

Going to try to make a go of this, will be a first for me even designing something that is supposed to be three dimensional. 
Still very much a WIP, though I'm pretty happy with the front. Plenty more to do yet. Changing perspectives to do other views is an absolute *****.
Going for a Destroyer... perhaps CCP can make them useful again.

Ive recently rebrowsed the entries and seen about six really good contenders of those who submitted a ship that is of eve design (there are some very outside of eve designs floating in there atm its possible they may not play the game) Ill be working on my second submission now. Probably a minmatar ship since they havent given a free one of those away yet.

Well I'm really excited about this contest, and it's time to dust off some old sketches and get creative. Just awesome! There's already some really good stuff up there.
And that concept ships...wow I data mined it a while back for images and it was quite a gold mine of excellent space ship artwork.
From how I understand the rules, they dont want a colored pic, just a black and white line drawing showing the specified angles. Or at least they don't care if it's color or B&W.
Best of luck to all who enter! It had damn well better be an EVE player who wins it, too! STEP IT UP!

No point in adding colors, since the CCP art team is more than capable of adding the forest camo on their own.

This thing is like a horrific traffic accident with the occasional sexy lady cop standing around directing traffic.
There are a few nice ones (novafox's SoE ship stands out as being very Eve) and then there's the rest of it, like a tangle of epileptic line drawings collided with the most unskilled 3D renderings and exploded onto a website. Oh, and let's not forget the plagiarists (some of whom have disappeared, hopefully to be beaten), and the BABTREKWARS ripoffs. I've seen the same Nebula class Federation ship entered by two different contestants, the second time without even filing off the serial numbers.
Despite my earlier declaration that I would ignore it, I find myself, rather, unable to look away.

Well I've been busy thinking about and designing a ship...Finally decided on the 1st i was going to do so here it is;
Disclaimer; My wacom Bamboo / PS drawFu is fail but I'm hoping the mediocre drawing together with the thought out reason for the ship will help me get higher than the cardboardboxship at least, as awesome as that one may be.

The eve gfx engine will probably need to be updated to accommodate my design, but i think it will be worth it. I am thinking this ship should have a unique feature that it can tractor beam corpses.
