Would it be crazy to have a jail placed within the game for pirates who have had attrocious crimes placed against them? in this case you could also be appointed warden and gain money for the criminals that are convicted. During there sentence they could not train skills, or there skill training time would be quadruppled for each prisoner of lower crimes and they could speak to others, yet more severe crimes could be solitary confienment =) any more on this?

Oh, they'd just whine about how they weren't being allowed to play the game, and it wasn't fair, and it said they could BE A PIRATE right on the box, and they can't pirate from jail.
Just like any PKs in any game yet released. They whine a lot if they're not allowed to grief newbies unopposed, and with no real consequence of penalty for their actions. Bounty lists are good; it feeds their ego to see their name on a list. Actual enforced laws and penalties would be completely unacceptable to them.
(Goes for the "roleplaying" pirates as well; I've never seen anyone that would pay $10/month to sit in jail as a fair, in-character consequence of their own actions; they'd just quit. And if it adversely affects the stream of $10/month, you won't see it in the game.)

Why not just suspend the accounts of any criminal? The results would be the same:
Paying 12.95 for the priveledge of being denied that ability to play the game.

What about just jailing the pirate 'character'?
The RL person could still play by using his other two characters.
But arrestting a character would have to be looked at carefully as we dont want to throw any innocents into jail now do we :))

Any criminal worth jailing doesn't have another character worth using. You don't deny people the right to play the game for doing something completely within the game's rules.

Yes.
Just ask yourself: How would you feel if you couldnŠt play for several days because your char is in jail?

Yes it would be crazy to punish people for playing the game.
Players can, should and will kill other players in EvE. Get used to it, deal with it, or move on.
CONCORD provide consequences, not safety; only you can do that. |

I like this jail idea. The pirates would learn how to use it to the maximum advantage and it would be used to imprison innocent players.
It'd be great because we could start by imprisoning the OP and the necromancer.
