Ok so i'm new to FW. So far in the past 5 hours i've bin made poorer than i've been since day one- steep learning curve. Problem is I dont have experience or competance to solo intys or the other ships i see flying around from oposition. How in this age of suspicion and spys can you start out in FW? Are there any Corps out there that can help? i need to fleet with peeps to get a hang of it!
Any suggestions?

There's bound to be some fleets around that you can join, solo pvp especially with bad skills will get you killed a lot but at least the ships you will loose are cheap in comparison to what most others around you fly.

whenever i ask no one replies. or they say something like "there are but we're not going to say in militia chat".
No one trusts anyone, which i understand, but it makes it suck for new peeps who are trying to get onto the ladder.

Edited by: Ralnik on 11/09/2010 17:09:43 Unfortunately, people take FW far to serious and are typically scared to lose their internet spaceships. This goes for both those that spy and those that go over board accusing everyone and their brother for being a spy.
This makes it tougher on newer players that don't have a lot of experience or the ability to go out soloing to get some kills on their own. The best bet is likely to find some other members in the same situation and take small gangs out into the back systems.
Stay away from the busy places like anything close to Tama and try to get some fights against other smaller groups or lone targets.

Gallente militia are the most paranoid out of the 4. Amar and Minmatar comes after, and Caldari are the most open. There are usually a few standing fleets with militia wide adverts at any time. Their roams eventually get dropped on, it's the price for openness.
Also, stay away from Villore and Diodxie. Caldari (draketrain in particular) camps them. Major Gallente militia corps don't defend them, and camps over in Tama, where they have the protection of their pirate friends. NPC militia can't defend them even if they want to.

Actually, between squids and frogs, frogs from my experience are the most welcoming. Squids are too much into serious business and serious trolling, not even counting on somewhat idiotic tactics ... your not going to learn anything from engagements where you blob the crap out of the opposition.
For the OP. FW dudes are inherently paranoid, many times without reason. Start small, fly in t1 frigs, get invited in time to gangs. It also helps if you boost your nr of targets by engaging neutrals or roaming in 0.0. Something like an Incursus can do wonders vs some of the ceptors. This is the fit if you want to try it. - Intigo |

Both Gallente and Caldari militia are full of players who are trying to win Eve. Come over to the Amarr/Minmatar side - both militia's there happily take x's in militia chat. After a few militia roams, you'll find some player corps that you'll mesh with well and will take newbies.

Not sure if serious.
We can solo missions, We can kill your SBs and solo mission runners and we break your blobs easly.
We are very welcoming if you are not a dumbass or just play actively, we have at least 3 FCs that take out General Militia fleets and our roams sometimes go on for hours because you either run in pods or don't even come at all.
And draketrain? Well... You plain suck really. You play station games in high sec with neutrals tanking the npcs for you which isn't an exploit apparently even when using known exploits. We came for you several times and you just dock up for hours/log out and don't even engage.
Also pie friends? Seriously? Just because we fight them and win some times and they engage us less because of it, doesn't mean they are our friends. You are just easier targets.
Anything else?

There's a big difference between butthurt and plainly failing. just peruse the killmails draketrain gets and appart from the odd corp one due to afk or lack of intel or low sec gangs (they do go out of high sec once in a while but it's very rare...), you'll mostly find new gallente pilots or FDU people. Most of the gallente corps base in low sec, so their "blockade" doesn't really affect us. We trully pity them when they call themselves superior and all that smacktalk we learned to ignore.

Draketrain is based out of Villore. It's highsec, just not Caldari highsec. You guys really need to go cover your backyard and help the militia noobs there. They're getting slaughtered. There is more to fw than Tama.
You may feel exposed without the protection of allied blued lowsec pirates, but draketrain is a 1 month old corp. How old is qcats? Why are you avoiding them? Why even direct so much smack at them? When you should be killing them. It's in Gallente high sec, your backyard.

We don't avoid you, you avoid us. And you are the ones that smack so much you get muted by GMs (true story...) Also to be clear once and for all: We do not have blued pirates nor am I aware of any gallente FW corps that have blue pies active in our low sec area. Come to low sec and you'll see us hunting pies when you folks are too busy running away from us or hiding in high sec, caldari or not.
Feel free to reply with more ignorance if you want, I'll just grab popcorn and go back lurking the forums.

My fw alt is in another corp, not draktrain. They have some decent ppl, might have joined them had they existed back then. In any case, I doubt draketrain is avoiding you. You're in tama, which is just too far away from where they are based, and there are plenty of easy wts to poach in villore and diodixie. You guys should at least try to protect your highsec base instead of hanging out in tama in camping fleets with the local pirates all the time.

Actually, we base out of heyd, not Tama, though we go to tama quite often because that's where the wt's are. We're only two jumps from you, so if you ever want to leave high sec and your station hugging and come to lowsec during the US TZ, we'll embrace you with a loving swarm of drones :)
QCATS hasn't lived in highsec for well over a year now. Lowsec has a lot more pirates to shoot, and we're closer to the action. Why would we move back for a bunch of station games with neutrals? The pirates we hang out with actually want to fight us, not just dock up/put ships in neutral orcas etc.
If you're implying we're blue with said pirates - we are not blue with any pirate corp that isn't in the gallente militia. We regularly tangle with the python cartel, WI gangs, Cry Havoc, Void wolf/project nomads and groups of random russians and really whoever will step out into lowsec during the US TZ. 0.0 sometimes when things get *really* quiet.
I can understand you guys wanting to gank noobs in highsec with your neutral alts and all that, a km is a km. But why you think we'd want to move back to highsec when there's a lot more action in lowsec is beyond me. If I wanted to play station games, I could have stayed out of FW and just decced corps in Jita.

Tbh other than the usual Draketrain (pervs) induced smack (btw both sides need to take some growing up tablets on occasions) the majority of us enjoy some good banter and friendly smack amongst the killing / running / dieing.
Hell, it was my birthday on saturday and one of the Caldari fc's contracted me a fitted navy caracel as a prezzie which was a great touch tbh.
Some people take things way too seriously - stop the childish finger pointing smack and just get on with killing the **** out of each other and have some fun.
So yeh, a big portion of us gallente and the squids are just having fun and enjoying the pew pew -win or lose.

Most of this is due to Gallente rah-rah smack which followed when 22nd, PERVS and Co. started to tear through your regions and despite of equal numbers, you were incapable/unwilling to organise as devoted corps for task of defending your system occupancy as Caldari had for taking them.
So in response you started gossip campaign which basicly labeled all Caldaris as exploiting, cloaky-stabby t1 frig pilots and that nobody really cared about plexes and it was not really the "serious part" of militia doing any plex fighting and getting killed (since they were all in Tama). Most of people also seemed to believe this and PERVS ended up getting most of the flak.
The irony of course here is that Gallentes had the bulk of exploiters and it's still accepted practice in militia to turn Caldari npcs to fire on Caldari militia. I also learned this trick was taught to Minmatar miltia during my last visit when they used it on me repeatedly in solar system of Eytjangard.
Only once PERVS got jaded in maintaining occupancy and X Gallentius put together his history of FW, was some minor recognition given to Caldari efforts because you had managed to "clean" your shame.
Even now, Draep (one of PERVS successors) gets accused of using faulty game mechanisms to gank people in high-sec with impunity and other stuff. Yet again, Gallente forget that it was FOOM who started the whole thing. Now, could please go and call Fredrick Psitalon and others a bunch of weak limbed, n00b ganking, unskilled pve f....ts or just shut the hell up about us shutting down your high-sec, which you still dont care about despite losing a fleet in Villore yesterday....

Damar, say to us with a straight face that Draketrain isn't the most exploit-reliant, questionable game mechanic using entity in the entirety of FW. I mean obviously there's always going to be people on all sides who exploit, but nobody comes even close to the amount of exploitation draketrain does. The fact that you guys base in our high-sec should provide some indication of this.

PERVS/Draep has never used exploits. Standings bug which we did to showcase one major fault in FW (because Gallentes were happy to do) was not deemed an exploit. Our "Conga Maller" trick to tank high-sec was deemed such and we stopped.
Just as example.

Fact is that ccp has not said that tanking highsec navy is an exploit, so if there is way to do that we will.
If ccp says that tanking is not allowed we will stop to finding methods to do that.
Until then it is not exploiting, it is just part of game mechanics. If you can not do it, it is not our fault, it is only your fault. Some people use time to examine how things work, some just whine and cry ccp to help.

Fair play to you tbh for finding ways to (i wont say exploit) use game mechanics to your advantage, if you spent the time testing and figuring out how this stuff works then good on yer.
@ Damar, stop repeating stuff from yesteryear, its done - move on mate.
@ The op, a little bit of advice (and to others on the Gallente side) - Dont base in high sec, you could move to either Heyd, Nisuwa or hell even Tama and you will get help and assistance. Depending on what TZ you play in give me a convo in-game (i am eu based) and i'll get you involved in our fleets - My corp bases out of Nisuwa and we tend to do stuff every night of the week.
