A string of good drops would have you singing a very different tune. That said, I agree that the risk/reward is a bit out of whack. You could always try combat missions from lowsec agents. You'll get slightly better isk/lp rewards. In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse.
