1) I would really like some sort of indicator of how far off 'baseline' you've moved a feature. At the moment it's hard to tell exactly what you've done, when sculpting, especially since some of the results are a bit counter-intuitive (making eyes larger by pulling them upwards, for example)
2) Body types. While making a male avatar heavy and muscular makes him look like a bodybuilder, for female avatars dialing up the weight slider makes them look flabby regardless of the muscularity setting. If it's possible to create a male avatar who looks like a swimmer or a short-distance runner or a weight-lifter in build, it should be possible to do the same for female avatars, rather than having to chose between skinny, skinny and fit, and fat.
3) The expressions in the portrait-taker are difficult to manipulate and counter-intuitive. Presets or else a slider to indicate what you've moved and how much would help. Also, they seem to be only symmetrical? It would be really great if we could make a picture of our character winking or raising a single eyebrow.
4) The dials to chose between options are incredibly frustrating.
5) The skin customization - it would be great to have a variation that is between 'perfect' and 'terrible acne scars'.

Points we are particularly looking for feedback on: - Usability concerns, how easy is the feature to use? Please provide some reasoning with your feedback in this area. - Crashes or complete failure to load. We are very interested in hardware specs or detailed repro steps for any sort of crashing or complete mechanical failures.
First of all û thanks for the new character creator û itÆs awesome! Now about your questions. It is not easy to use. But the old one was not easy either. And with the ôrandomö options it should be fine. No crashes here. However loading fails every time I try alt-tab to another program.
There are a couple concerns also... The changes are huge. There is no similarity between faces you suggested in old character creator and the new one. So, there is a first problem: many of us choose their characters for the look. And now itÆs not only looking different û it looks opposed to one we had. LetÆs take Gallente-Intaki-Femail as an example. The old one was very feminine. Ugly, but definitely unmistakably feminine. While now the original face is a face of a young man, or at least a clear androgyne. No matter what you do û the end result is a badly disguised transvestite. If the faces we have now on the test server are final û you have to let people at least choose the bloodline if not the race.
Another thing û same hairdressers for all races. It would not be so bad but races lost their unique looks. Do you plan to add at least some helmets or something? To make your avatarÆs race be easy to pick from the small picture?

Since I have tried this out, I'll give some feedback.
I am not sure how many other people have said this, but the "Wheel" that you use to select items is very difficult to use. A simple "next" button would fix this easily. I find it quite difficult to scroll through the assets.
That is all I can say about it. I hope this feedback helps you guys out.

If you are having trouble with the dials choosing what you want just use the mouse scroll wheel. It moves through every selection one at a time. I will agree with others thougth I don't see the dials as being intuitive in the least when it comes to selections. A drop-down or slider bar would serve the exact same function while taking up a lot less screen real-estate at the same time.

I'd say more control over noses is needed, but I see "sculpting limits are WIP".
Like most, I'm not wild about the wheel interface either.
A plethora of Intaki space mullets must appear in the final version. Intaki hair forever!
Joking aside (though seriously, Intaki crave mullets) I am hoping bloodlines will have unique hair styles so that the same mohawk isn't cropping up across Brutor, Gallente, and Khanids domes.

Give us a box like the original for 2D position, a vertical slider for 3D position, and then let us sculpt beyond that for EACH CUSTOMIZABLE FEATURE (cheeks/nose/eyes/eyebrow/jaw/mouth/weight/muscle/bust/height/etc)
Example:
----------- --- | | O | | | |____|____| |_| | | | |O| | | | | | ----------- ---
That allows us control over our 2D positional and 3D extrusion of a given feature. After that, we can click and drag features into place, which I think would make things much better.
Think of the sliders as coarse adjustments, and the click-and-drag as fine adjustments.

Hmm, fiddled around some more with a gallente/jin mei female character.
I can make the face really ugly/scarred/freckled, but I've had no success in creating a really clean freckles face. Or should I fiddle around with my graphics settings? I use wine/linux, and have disabled(or set to low quality) some of the settings.
