I don't.
CCP are in a hole that they dug for themselves with no prompting from anyone else. I don't recall a huge roar from the crowd demanding a new UI.
Having dug that hole, they then didn't follow rule#1, which is to stop digging!
The sensible thing would have been to recall the patch and rollback to the existing largely unbroken UI and then fix this new UI quietly in the background without any player pressure.
Instead, CCP continue to dig themselves deeper while the player base looks on disappointedly.
In recalling the patch they would basically be saying, 'sorry, we messed up'.
I have yet to see (possibly could have missed it somewhere, but i dont think so),an official post from CCP saying that the release of the update was an error. IMO they would take a gigantic leap forward in terms of customer relations, if they just had the balls to say that they messed up. Mistakes happen, and can to a certain extent be accepted. What cant be accepted is their complete failure to admit to their mistakes.

WHAT? Ever since I'm playing the game people are complaining about the UI! No I don't like the bugs either. But it is a good thing they are working on it.

I believe that you miss my point.
I have absolutely no problem with CCP improving the game by introducing new content, fixing bugs... or even replacing wholesale the entire UI.
The point is that you do all that on a test system in the background, then release it to a welcoming player base who have been happily playing on the live system.
I'm not niaive enough to beleive that any new release would be bug free, but the sheer depth of the "broken-ness" in what they released is breath-taking!

they did try it on the test system, they then released it with the bugs that had been reported still in the update.

Edited by: Jane Griffin on 13/10/2010 18:24:13 Within 10 seconds of loading the game i found that this new optional patch reversed much of what was repaired in the optional patch 3, and heres a video to illustrate...

I have little doubt that wreck windows open in the same way, though i didnt get as far as entering a mission since if CCP cannot be arsed to check they arnt breaking the simplest things, i cannot be arsed to play...
Oh and sorry about the music, i found a track that was the correct length on my media player and it was called 'Oh my ****ing god', so i had no choice really.

So... when is the next patch to fix the patch to fix the patch to fix the patch to fix the untested release planned to be?
I am hoping that something positive comes out of this. The sheer excruciating embarassment of this should mean that the next release of anything will be tested to death on Sisi (and known bugs fixed) before it hits TQ. I guess time will tell.
This is like seeing a bad accident unfold... you know it's gonna be nasty, and you don't really want to watch, but you can't tear your eyes away!
It's not up there with the boot.ini disaster... but I guess there is still time.

Seems to be a very slow trainwreck, the 4th optional trynaiis 1.1 patch was deployed and was considered a fail fit. It fixed several reported issues with the last optional patch, we would like to encourage everyone to apply this patch to ensure youre gameplay is made totallly unimproved.
A full list of new patch bugs can be found here ( insert buglist)
The reason for deploying this patch is that these contain more bugged python updates , the process of logging in is now 100% uselss. prepared tested and made sure u cant play this game leading to less players and less revenue.
The following post downtime period will mean no one can play afte rlaunching the available patch, please click yes to stuff up youe gameplay. To uninstall where do we go i mean the entire game anyone ?

Whats annoying, infuriating and downright bad business sense is all we get from CCP is 'er, heres a patch to fix some issues' every 2-3 days.
Whats then even more annoying etc. is said patch seems to fix maybe 1 or 2 bugs, but then makes previously cleared bugs, reappear.
Time to get your main programmers back on this and away from other projects before your flagship takes the same route as the SS Titanic.

It is downright bad business, the sense is that they arent communicating and just shovling rubbish out the door for us to consume.
The fixed bugs just make more bugs, the main programmers ae off working on SS titanic incursion version 1.18 or something giving us more half finished rushed rubbish. Main server is going to hell and back i wonder if overall subscriber numbers are droppping yet ..... if its not fixed soon it will no amount of massive PR budget will help them on that one

Well, the official Please test the our brand new optional patch! gets boring really fast.
What really bugs me the we get free skillpoints for an unforseen DB crash and now we have these bullcrap patches and everything is ok? Is this the behaviour we will now see from CCP for the next patches?
I'm still waiting for an official explanation what is currently happening what is the mighty CCP master plan to fix this mess. Optional patches which degrade me to an paying alpha tester is obviously not the solution.

The offical boring please test our brand new optional bug program.
So can we get say 10000 skillpoints for the unforeseen bugs in this everything fixed patch
Offical explanation forthcoming we shall wait and see, probabbliity of a dev loot drop on this one about 10%, the solution and the alpha testing should be done by QA not the paying playing customer base
I should be able to load game up start it up and log in not be stuck for whats going on 4 hours now trying to get in this is getting old fast.
Just shovel another bug fest in our face tomorrow ccp lets go hehehehehe

25 yr software engineer.
This looks like the UI team was newly created, has a bunch of junior programmers on it with a junior development manager.
Junior because: - Releasing a bunch of new code (refactoring is new code) without decent testing. - Panic releasing of multiple patches to attempt to fix the problems, while drowning in the many items that are failing. - Not being experienced enough to take the upfront hit, retract the patch, and come back in 2 weeks with something that works.
Other note: This optional patch thing sounds like someone in testing/release KNEW there would be problems, and let them dig their own grave. Either internal politics, or arrogance on the part of the manager saying "It works".

hello mr 25 yr software engineer
This does look like an incompentent newly created UI team doesnt it, hope their junior development manager can learn quickly otherwise ccp are gunna loose $$$
- the refactoring of new code without decent testing is a ccp trademark panic attempts at fixing problems yup nothing to see here.
Retract the patch nope ccp is always a mvoe forward organisation a bit like some politicans going backwards just doesnt work
The optional beta testing patch is being pushed upon everyone and they are automatically mostly going for it which makes it even worse as more players are coping the rubbish and cant play
End thoughts get a senior developer on this who has a half wit of a clue instead of no idea at all

I can confirm I have all the same problems illustrated in that video. None of the optional patches ever fixed it for me. BTW, love the music

I can confirm the debacle video is correct, the illistrated problems are without explanation from senior CCP staff continue
The music is great about about something broken something borrowed something blue ?
SOmething stable something working something not being alpha tested something clearing QA first instead of being shovlled out the door like horse manure. Anything else well nothing to add yet just get the game working so paying players can play

I actually haven't had that happen since the second patch.

Originally by: cragz Thanks for getting around to sorting the "escalation notification issue" CCP.
There is just one more that really could do with a fix and thats the corp details editing. When you fill this in or try to delete some parts of the text it "duplicates" alot of the text already there and causes it to get jumbled up and in most cases you have to rewrite the whole thing to correct it.
It does this with the Bio and notepad too.
Have you filed a bug report? Could you please provide more detailed reproduction steps, I haven't been able to produce the behavior you describe neither in corp details editing, bio nor notepad.

Have you checked your shortcut settings? By default close window is bound to Ctrl-W while closing the game is bound to Ctrl-Q, you can change the shortcut bindings in the Esc menu on the Shortcuts tab.

I tried to replicate it last night and was unable to, I think it was just a fluke. If ctrl + w is close window, I bet I just fat-fingered it last night.
