Why did the change the graphics to look like we're flying through humid atmosphere?? Who's in charge of the effects department over there??? Goddamit if it's not the blinking stars its some other **... Why not work on the cyno effects or the engine trails instead? And getting rid of those eye-piercing SB and ECCM effects? You can locate them on the map.

I was a bit puzzled by the misty atmosphere also but the last screen shot doesn't have that effect. Maybe he was just in an area with lots of fine dust in the first few shots?

You will only see those kind of shadows when you 'look' towards the sun and there's a object infront of it ( like a ship ). Like the last picture, you don't see the sun, so you won't see those shadows.
