Of course DCU equates to more hp. But in a rail DD.. when you are ****ed, you are ****ed. There is no.. 'ok, well I might got this'. No.. if some of you have actually flown the ship, which looks highly doubtful from some of the posts.. you'd get this very point..
The eanm fit does last in armor in the majority of fights you'll commit to and encounter in a rail DD while you are out n about. The DCU is more likely to bleed structure.. bleed structure again.. bleed some more. Not everyone has the chance to dock up and fix their bleeding structure out in null. So as time progress.. your ehp IS DROPPING and starting lower in the DCU fit vs the eanm fit. Seriously.. get off eft, play the game. Structure doesn't magically repair itself. Get off eft n the forums and try it.

I can't count the number of times a suitcase has saved my ass. Throwing away half your structure to have slightly improved armour resists is nearly always dumb. My DD has escaped plenty of bad situations in hull. Had I put an eanm on it would not. You are clueless but at least your posting is entertaining.
As for hurr durr go try it ingame, I and many others have. It's still amusing to me when I turn around a fight from ohnoes quarter hull I'm dead to watching him enter structure and then explode in seconds. ~_~

Edited by: Istvaan Shogaatsu on 06/11/2010 21:53:03 I have two Dramiels. Both are T2 rigged, both fitted the same way, but one is tech 1/2 fit (which I'm using to re-learn PVP) and one is faction fit (for when I'm done.) This is the faction version.

Good arguement. Cause no one in EVE has multiple characters for using in different areas of the game.

Rail Fit Daredevil
If you and anyone is getting into repeated fights with a rail fit DD that results in structure fighting, you suck at using the ship. This ship.. if you're going to hit structure with DCU or not, chances are you already lost the fight and your ship before that moment even occured. Herp derp.. sorry you suck at using this ship if you come across repeated structure moments in a rail DD. Try a cheaper option.
Oh wait.. you're probably talking about a blaster DD, aren't ya? I had already stated DCU should go with a blaster fit.. but whatever. Can't look like a forum bully/genius if you spent the time reading, and comprehending what people have stated through the entire arguement. It's best to ignore some things so when your mouth opens.. you feel more relevent and your ego can be fed.

Jesus christ you are ******ed.
Since you know a dcu gives you more repairable ehp than an eanm, then at the very least you could could set your mental 'gtfo point' at a lower amour/strucure level with a dcu than with your eanm.
Ofc with no dcu, if u hit structure then you have most likely lost, thats why people use dcus.

My characters are a binary combo.. how about yours?
If you don't like my choosen forum posting character.. thats really your problem. Some people prefer to avoid using certain characters for a variety of reasons, political agenda, corp/alliance rules of conduct, yada yada.
Nor does everyone need to run around the forum with an air of superiority just because they have a good kill ratio blobing people in Providence, 18% of kills against pods, and their only significant 1v1 ratio comes from killing frigs/indies/cruisers in a hurricane. And a majority of their loses comes from 1v1 when not having an obvious upper hand. I suppose all that really makes you.. special. Special if you have it set in your mind you're of any importance on these forums and in this game.
But you know you're not. Oh wait.. you don't really play anymore but you still run around the forums quite regulary. Perhaps you do believe you are important.. or you just want people to still believe you are.
I'm sorry. I'm sorry you need an interweb forum to feel a sense of worth. Asking and wondering about my other characters.. I can tell, you find a 'name' important. And you obviously cherish yours. No denying what you are, Intigo. It is all right there.
Now, by all means.. insert you're bland remark to continue your self preservation of being an important, angry, bitter, EVE forum troll that has about as much wit as a rock dried out under the sun in New Jersey.

OMFG Umega you are so dumb... seriously...
I especially like the part how you ignore the math I laid out step by step and continue to insist that the breakeven point of a DCU vs an EANM has some kind of magical connection with whether you fit blasters or rails on your DD.
I am telling you that hands down you are the most stupid person I have ever had the misfortune of arguing with over the internet.

I brought a new car yesterday.
I had difficulty choosing between the 3 litre tc petrol or the 2 litre tc diesel.
I looked at the maths and the 3 litre petrol was the better car
187 mph > 146 mph
So 3 litre petrol it is then.
Oh wait
I did the wrong fecking math.
I wanted the car with the better mpg.
I am such an idiot.
30mpg < 50mpg.
Do you get it yet ? mmm
Do the right math.
Sometimes sustainable "primary buffer" tank is more important than total ehp
Rail dd is one of the ships where this applies.
Get you head out of EFT & spreadsheets and play the game more and you might know this.

I never said your math is wrong. I said you did the wrong math.
Your working out total ehp in the assumption that this is the most important attribute.
For me total ehp is not the most important thing in a rail dd fit.
In fact I fit a lot of ships with Nanofibers "SHOCK" "HORROR" cause speed and agility is more fracking important than taking 1 second longer to die cause I've been snagged and have a DCU fitted.

Yeah right, except eanm and dcu give the same benefit (resists and ehp), but the the dcu's benefit is stronger than the eamn's.
Following your argument, I am going to fit drone control augmenters in all my brutix's high slots, because what's important to me is drone control range. You can throw all the logic you want at me involving dps, ehp, effectiveness etc, but they are not important to me... drone control range is and therefore my fit is perfectly good.
The eanm has no realistic benefit over a dcu whatsoever, you are a total idiot.

We're not arguing about a EANM vs. a nano, we're arguing about a EANM vs a DCU. Both of which do nearly the same thing, increase resists. Guess what resists are for? TANKING. TO SURVIVE LONGER. If it were an EANM vs a nano, then lots of arguments about piloting skill etc could be argued with validity. BUT EANM AND DC DO ALMOST THE EXACT SAME THING. Which means the math is VERY simple, VERY straightforward, and every second I stay in this thread I get more amazed at how simply DENSE people can be.

You dont tank to survive longer in a GTFO anytime it want rail dd fit.
That what you do in a blaster dd fit.
In a rail dd fit you control range and damage taken. If you cant tank in primary buffer before killing your opponent then you leave.

So assuming you never want to risk losing your ship in a really good close fight, and therefore plan a rough amount of ehp to get down to before you gtfo:
with an eanm, you get to 20% armour and think you could lose, so you leave.
with a dcu, you get to 5-10% armour and think you could lose so you leave.
benfit of the eanm: none
benfit of the dcu: you get longer to find out whether you might lose or not (as more total ehp in structure and armour = more ehp you can lose before hitting the pre-set limit) and if getting out should take longer than you want and you enter structure, you won't melt in under a second.

Pretty much the tactics. But for me losing the ship is not the cut off point. Taking structure damage is thing to be avoided for me with either dcu or eanm fit. Avoiding structure damage means avoiding dockup to fix. Avoiding dockup means Avoiding missing another fight cause your docked up fixing your structure rather than being out and about and tackling the enemy.
EANM fits are better at avoiding structure damage and the armor buffer is big enough to give you time to tell whether or not your gonna be able to get the kill.
With EANM your more likelly to be able to complete the fight without dropping into structure.
