Originally by: Tsabrock I just had another thought - people that are currently training learning skills could possibly end-up with the incorrect number of skillpoints returned to them. The overall skill point value of the character no-longer changes automatically until a skill is finished training (or if the Queue is paused). I think I'll adjust one of my character's skill training now to test that.
BTW, I'm also curious on how my main character's overall skill training will be affected. He's had all learning skills to Level 5 for years now (minus Charisma), along with +5 Implants. He'll be in that small minority of players that will actually loose a tiny amount off of his attributes (0.3 I believe). While it's a small bummer to loose any points from your attributes, the benefit of getting back all of the points from the learning skills makes-up for it).
You guys are creative. Nice work

Originally by: Kary Tamona Idle question, for someone with pretty much all non capital combat skills trained, how many SP are needed to fly a poorly fitted titan? Will the 10 million SP I'll get this weekend suffice? Any hint how to spend those SP to get to fly a titan?
Just for bleeps and giggles I used eve mon to put a titan into the skill que of a character I created but havent trained any skills for yet. The total SP for the training was 8.5M so 10 M would be more than enough to fly a titan... but that dosn't include any modules. I used a fit from battleclinic and the total SP went up to 16M so depending on how much of that you already have trained you should be able to fly one... the problem will just be building it...

Initially when I read the dev blog stating the 5 million SP reward I shouted out with glee, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to All! I got so excited I completely overlooked the server name "Singularity". As you can imagine I was very dissapointed and sad when I read into it a little more.
All in all it kinda sucks that theres no reward for this on the live server, though for the amount of work it probrably isn't warranted.
Now when mirroring these servers we lose rewards we get for helping mass test. This is not a good thing in my opinion and the fact that that reward isn't something I get to keep.. Makes me not want to test. I'm still going to though because I love CCP and I love EVE, but why don't you guys do this...?
Make a script or program that can be ran after each re-mirror of the server. That script does one simple task.. It just adds mass test SP awards to the mappable SP pool on a character. You basically just keep a spreadsheet or database with a list of characters and their current reward pool. Each time they participate and get a new reward you just add the new SP amount to the already existing pool. Then, each time the server is re-mirrored everyone gets their rewards back.
This has several pros and only one con. Let me elaborate!
PROS
- Testers Actually Feel Rewarded
- Promotes return of testers for more mass test events
- Once implimented, simple to "Inject Skillpoints" over again. ;)
- Allows return testers to properly test skill dependent features even if they do not already have the skills required. They just use their reward pool and apply it to the features needing to be tested.
CONS
The implimentation methods I could think of were these...
- Redeem Items, afterall a CCP blog post referred to skillpoints as items
- Post re-mirror script
Anyways it's obviously not a huge concern, but something like this needs to be a little more clear on where the rewards are going (Calling the test server Sisi AND Singularity can be misleading at times) and a little bit more longevity on rewards would be nice.
Seconded.

now seeding 100 books in 100 differnt stations i hope you enjoy. now to insure that i get the correct reimbursment for each book, will it be given at the "test" cost of 100isk per item, or is it a pre definded amount for each book as it would be on the live server?

Remember to do a skillbook inside a can that's inside a ship that's inside a courier package that's inside a ship that's in a ship array whose control tower has been destroyed.

How about lining up a few frigates with skill books in the cargo bays, and blowing them up just before the server goes down so that some of the wrecks would have books inside? *haha*

I am glad i can help you out with that test.
Originally by: CCP Hypnotic
Originally by: Assaj Ventress So these 5m SP won't survive sisi mirrors as other mass testing 2m sp gifts did?
Those skill points survived because the Mass Test Master CCP Habakuk manually gave them out again after the mirror. He did this because the mirror was so close to the last mass test (only a few days after) and because he's an all around nice guy. I'm not so nice and think about a month is plenty of time to play around with new skills and ship types on Singularity you don't have the skills for on TQ.
Remember, if you have all learning skills a V and participate in this mass test you will end up with over 10 million skill points to apply as you like on Singularity. Sounds like a sweet deal to me for only a few minutes work. Even if it only lasts for a few weeks.
Will ccp give same "base attributs" as player having all learning skills to level 5 ? Because if not, players with all level 5 learning skills (as myself) will after the patch learn slower, which is sad. I invested so much time on my alt to train all learning skills to level 5 so i train faster and after the patch i'll train slower.
I would recommend giving out so much base attributes that players that now have all level 5 learning skills will train the same speed as they do now.
What do you think about this idea CCP ? ____________________________________________________________________________ Angel 0/A |
