COINCIDENCE?!? lolololololololol
Typical life lesson. The smart people who actually run a good OS in superior hardware get the shaft while MS users and their next to useless PC's get all the support. ie - the herd gets the most grass.

10.5.8 here as well, same issues. Looking like the OS is the issue. Lot's of different graphics cards and processors listed in thread... OS is only common thing I can pick out so far.

I've tried everything suggested in this thread and so far nothing has worked. Reinstalled, ran Eve Repair Tool, removed prefs folder, waited on black screen for an hour. I keep getting the same black screen and I have to hard restart to escape. This is all my system info, hope it helps you recreate what we all can't seem to stop recreating. Please fix this in tomorrow's patch, I'm paying for time I can't use.

All same here too. Black screen, full reinstall, repair, preferences with no joy. Got a petition going but it'd be nice to have someone from Eve with some answers.

Some extra info for my post earlier.
The two updates went fine, I was able to log into the game and play, everything was fine.
But then I started messing in the new anti-aliasing features... 1x, 2x, 4x, all seemed to work, but when I tried the 8xQ setting, black screen, no recover. Had to use the command-option-esc button sequence to kill Eve (this is the key command for Force Quitting an app in 10.6).
Following the advice a thread somewhere in here I deleted the core_public__.dat and when I restarted Eve again, it worked again. From looking around, it seems to only have changed my anti-alias settings back to disabled, which let me work again.
This file can be found be opening Finder and going to: Users/<your username>/Library/Preferences/Eve Online Preferences/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility/settings/core_public__.dat
Your milage may vary, but this fixed me after I messed it up. Just a thought, but might this be an anti-aliasing problem between OS X versions and certain cards??

I too have the same error as a lot of folks here:
Quote: Examining File : /Contents/Frameworks/wineserver -> SHA1 Error
I'm getting sick of reinstalling this game. I cancelled my sub for next month until this gets fixed, I don't have enough free time to burn it all up waiting for a reinstall (that happens a couple times a month).

Edited by: Leathersack on 16/12/2010 04:08:20 Success. It's still taking a while to load up (almost 2 minutes) but its working. I went into this folder and deleted all the cache files minus my bookmarks folder.
Users/<your username>/Library/Preferences/Eve Online Preferences/p_drive/Local Settings/Application Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility/settings/all files
Then I ran the Eve repair tool and bingo it finally loaded to the main login screen. Downloaded patch and updated and its working. Still taking 2 minutes to get the login screen so I'm sure there is issues but I'm in.
Good luck fellow macs and please post if it works for you too :)

Have had limited success with everything. Tried the patch, got the black screen. Reinstalled the client, got the black screen. Eventually just left it up for a while and it loaded and I was able to login. Tried again now and got the black screen. Running OSX 10.5.8.

the above worked for me as well.. to a degree. it seems to set as default no bloom effect and HDR not enabled, and anti-aliasing disabled. If i change any of these the black screen of death returns and I am forced to wipe those files again and start over. i've always used bloom on high and hdr before so I don't know what changed but it certainly seems to be a graphics issue.

First of all, the petition window issue being fixed in todays patch affects the EVE client in general. I don't know why some of you seem to take it as an insult that we want to fix the mechanism by which you can get assistance as quickly as possible.
On to the issue at hand, it seems that something in the way we implemented AA is having an adverse effect on many users running OS X version 10.5.8 which I can totally understand people being irate over. We will attempt to pinpoint the issue at hand so we can fix it but I honestly don't know how long that will take, if you want a quick solution I suggest an OS upgrade since we very likely will have to drop support for 10.5.x at some point in 2011 anyway. I know that isn't the ideal way to tackle this, and I will be pushing for a fix regardless, but the quickest solution is worth mentioning. ------------------ Tester, Scrum Master Quality Assurance

I agree. If you guys running 10.5.8 can upgrade you should do it, the upgrade is like Ç20 (They also gave it away for pretty much free when 10.6 first came out). There are some major enhancements on the graphics and OpenGL side of things.

Being curious as to whether I was having a hardware compatibility issue, I made a VM with Windows XP for VMWare Fusion and loaded the Windows version of Eve into it. It worked, no black screen. I denied the 1.1 update just to see if i could get it working. It was almost unusably sluggish with the VM default size of 512MB ram, but when I later guessed that might be the problem and configured the VM for 2GB RAM and changed the eve prefs to optimize video for memory it's become more usable.
I'd always wanted to try running Eve in an VM, and well today created that opportunity.
