:) Hello All!
On the 23rd of this month, the 6th annual Galactic Giveaway will be taking place in-game.
Here's how it works:
When I'm ready to start, I'll be announcing in the Help channel (in game) and in this thread, the system that I have picked this year for the event.
When you get there you say hello to the folks in local, dock up, and I'll give you holiday gifties!
The gifties come in all shapes and sizes, but I try to keep them within your race.
Please please PLEASE be patient when waiting for gifties.. last year we had a few people who got a bit bent out of shape because they'd been waiting a long time.. but everyone ended up with stuff!
I'm doing this 'solo', so figuring out who gets what, and what they get takes some time.
Everyone gets something! I've got frigs, destroyers, and cruisers of all races.. fully fit, loaded and ready to fly! For special prizes I've got battle cruisers, battleships, T2 ships, and faction gear. You might end up with a cruiser, or just a frig (fully fit and loaded, of course), but you will get something.. and, as always, it's FREE.
The special 'grand' prize this year is a fully T2 fit Command ship, with ALL the trimmings.. and, just in case you don't have the skills to fly one yet, every single skill required to fly the ship, use the guns, use the fittings and activate the command modules are safely tucked away in the cargo hold. T2 ammo and drones are also included.
There will be drawings throughout the night for other special gifts, however you must be IN THE SYSTEM when the drawing takes place to be eligible to win.
There is NO COST to take part in the fun. I wont ask you to join a corp, bring a gift, or anything else like that. Just show up - your participation is payment enough!
Between now and the 23rd, I'll periodically return to this thread to answer any questions that might show up.
Last year's event was fantastic, with around 400 pilots showing up. Each year it gets bigger, and the conga-line of ships going around the station gets longer.

In previous years, some of you were sneaky and used your locator agents to find me and the event location before I announced it.. and when I logged into the system there were a few of you already waving at me in local. Just like last year, it wont work this year (I'm hiding)! I'm going to stay away from the actual location of the event until just before it begins.

Awesome, only race i'm in good standing with. I told a few close friends and the entire caldari FW. That won't be a problem, will it? Most of them are gonna show up (buy drakes).

I've never attended a Galactic Giveaway but I'm excited to attend this one. It sounds like a fantastic idea and it truly gets people in the holiday spirit. It's nice to know that there are still nice people in Eve. I'll see you all there. o/

Can I just ask for time zone clarification? If your on GMT/Eve time then I can just be awake between midnight and midnight. If your on +6 I'll need to be awake 6am to 6am. (I'm GMT btw).

Well this is wonderful! That's what I love about EVE... I'm a brand spanking new N0ob of a couple of weeks and sure, got m'self ganked already but on the flip side of the coin, we have awesomely generous folks like Holiday Spirit. Love it! Hope to make it!

Oh, that really sounds like a nice idea. I will certainly try to join. Will it be at a certain (eve)time of the day? I ask because living at GMT-10 hours is usually not getting along too well with the schedules of bigger events.
@amarr mod: Since the first post mentions a 0.6 system we can exclude Jita from the list.

Oh and as Dagoth already asked any planned schedule for the event? For example: Will it take place before or after the daily maintenance?

Lots of responses while I was out wrapping gifties!
Have had some home stuff (RL) going on, so I was away for a couple days.. all the holiday festivities! Fun fun fun!
I am on East Coast US time and usually start up the Event in the afternoon/late afternoon. It lasts as long as there are gifts to give, and with around 700 fully fitted ships and a few 'special prizes' to give away during the event, it'll last awhile this year too :)
Technically speaking, if I can give out 1 ship per minute it would take me about 10 hours (with no breaks) to give it all away.. but I'm usually pretty good at handing them out faster than that.
Other than the occasional break to go to the little elf's room, the Event is usually me cranking gifts out the door and into all the peep's hangars.. But that's the fun!
Tommorrow is the day, and I'll announce it here and in the in-game help channel when it starts up.
I do still need to fly all the way to the Event location, so if you see me pop online tommorrow, I wont initially be at the final destination :)
I usually give hints.. so far I've said Caldari Space.. which, in itself, isn't much.. so here's another one:
If you knew where the Event is being held this year, you could actually say "I know the exact system where the Event is going to be held this year, and I'll be there!"
(Yes, that's a real hint.. you'll be able to see why when I announce the location!)

Ran one more quick survey with the help of Ombey's map and came to those numbers of .6 systems per Caldari Empire region:
- 5 in Black Rise
- 10 in The Citadel
- 19 in Lonetrek
- and a crazy 26 in The Forge ;-)
Those are approximate, since Ombey's map gives two decimals and rounds security statuses differently than concord.
As I misread the hint in the first place, I was looking for something that would get close to Melmach (I had Tennen, which wasn't too far from Tanner, but 0.9) or Reindeer... This year, not past year, though /o\
I'll try a few interpretations:
- Isseras: "I know where [..] and j'y seras" (but it would require to know how to misconjugate in french... far-fetched)
- Liekuri: sounds likely, doesn't it?
- Saisio: a hint? you say so!
- Korsiki: it's an event for communists, so it happens there, of course'ky
- Inaya: I know where it's held cause you have no secret for me: I know ya inside out
- Umokka: a hint? you mock' at me!
- Aikantoh: playing riddles, eh? I can too!
I'd like to go on, but I wouldn't like to spoil it... actually I hope I'm still far off ^^
But I guess we'll all be, when we know what the exact system is, in awe. Meet you there folks ^^

Never been to a Giveaway before but I and my dad are both going to try and attend, hope we don't log on too late. We're also East coast so that should help. Not sure what he'd prefer, save for maybe a Hulk..I myself would love an Abbadon, but anything I get will be appreciated in the spirit of the holiday season.

The pre-party in Inoue has started off with a bang. So far 101 capsuleers are in system. And games hosted by yours truly are being used to pass the time.
So far we have
- Made a conga line (20 ships +)
- Ratted the belts in rookie ships
- Suicide Ganked a hulk in rookie ships (mostly just me)
Which brings us to 3 minutes ago.

He said mid to late afternoon and that he's on the Eastern sea board. As I post this, it's 10:08 Eastern Time. That would put the party at another 5 to 6 hours from now (3 to 4pm his time).
Currently it's 15:08 ingame - maybe he just did it earlier last year?
Clarification on this would've been awesome - I'm in Australia, and it's after 2am. Obviously sleep is more important than staying awake all night for a game, but... but... but... and I figured out where it was before it was leaked too!

I am madly trying to square things away at work so I can get home, figure out where the festivities actually are, feed the kids, and have a bit of fun with a bunch of folks I don't know yet this evening. :) While the potential for gifts is super-cool, I think I'm looking forward to goofy holiday games even more! Not trying to cause any problems here, but the amount of non-help chatter going on in the Help channel is getting mind-numbing and the ISD folk are requesting someone ask you to not use the Help channel to make the announcement, and since I have yet to see anyone taking this step of calming the Help channel and make this request, here I am.
Since you're aiming for Caldari space, might I suggest the Caldari Empire channel?

Dr Mod is leading a conga line, we all find someone towards teh end of the current line and "Keep at Distance" 50m or 200m.. He's orbiting the station at 201m/s so we're just lining up behind him.. Then we wait for the post of official location and mas-jump to where it's at.

the conga line bombers just lagged the system to hell, they had a fight against 200+ concord ships,

Sent this to Holiday Spirit by mail, but I'm in such a good mood I figured I could share it with y'all too:
Getting up early to come here had an unexpected benefit.
Got to rescue a baby bird off the road that my fiance nearly ran over - that's one less pancake! Friendly fellow, too. Cleaned him up, kept him warm, made sure he was happy and then met the neighbors - also lovely bird loving people!
So I have had a wonderful morning, met good people and saved one tiny life.
Just wanted to say thank you - if not for this event, maybe all the other random follow-ons wouldn't have happened.
I've got the Holiday Spirit now - didn't even have to trade you! - and hope this little bit of news makes you feel appreciated for more than just ISK!

Too bad Spirit has too do everything by himself, it takes him quite a time to open all those tradewindows...
I'd offer to help him ext year but I bet he's got to have some friends closer to him willing to help.
I hope I get chosen in the next hour or so, after that I have to get to bed.
I might be able to leave eve on during the night but I wonder if tradewindows stay open for long...

I don't believe the Spirit said everyone would get something - just that he'd try. Obviously demand is a lot higher than last year. There was no 'lying'.
This is just one guy giving as best he can.

seriously, do you people complaining have no gratitude at all? its amazing anyone is getting anything! yes, the time zone thing isn't ideal, but what, you expect him to stay awake for 24hrs straight JUST TO GIVE YOU SOMETHING FREE? this is a GIFT that he DOESN'T HAVE TO GIVE!
when i logged on there 46000 people on the server. he said there would be 700ships. You do the math. 700 out of 1000 players in system only is pretty good odds!

Well it is starting to look like some of the players/alt's are leaving since we are now down from over 1035 to 985. I wish that CCP implemeted some real IRC features in the chat subsystem. Imagine a nice guy like holiday spirit would be op in his extra channel and switch it to moderated. No one could talk unless given voice. Kickban spammers. This is my REAL christmas gift wish (@CCP). I appreciate freedom of speech, but for player channels, we really need a mechanism to protect us. What's happening in local is a DDOS attack for everyone who is not a fast reader or writer. (Hey, English is not everyone's native language). Merry Christmas to all pieceful guys here.

This could have used better organizing. Maybe some of the following, with corporate sponsorship and the workload distributed onto more than just HS.
1 - Less confusion over the time estimate (this was as he said - mid to late afternoon, HIS time. People didn't pay attention.
2 - Don't encourage spam. Pick from the list of people in local or at the station if you want to do it at random.
3 - A system whereby which people who showed up and were waiting for hours took priority over folk who randomly popped along.

I see lots of whiners, how about you just shut up, nobody forced you to this, if you actually read, he said he had about 700 ships to giveaway, in local at one point, there were over 1100 people, everybody knew that not everybody was going to get one, it was YOUR choice to stay at that point. How about you just be grateful somebody is doing this in the first place?

Thanks Daenna Chrysi for the updates, I figured out how your did this via the logs and "find", as my name starts with Z I got one of the last ships I guess a "Holiday Catalyst" so he must of been using the logs to to see when we first came into the system more then 10 hours ago and if we were still here as he finished up his inventory of ships! Well I just spent 1/2 a day for nothing I am really getting ****ed off here. I know Holiday Spirit is trying his best but he should know better on how to do this if this he's 6 year doing this.
All we do is wast time and get not one thing. Although on the other hand it is really nice to see some one trying to be nice and give out lots of stuff to other players.

I'm not so much disappointed about not getting anything yet, as it is the fact that in the post it is said EVERYONE will be looked after. Last time I checked, I counted in that number as well as many other disappointed subscribers.
I can understand that it's an overwhelming task (hint for Holiday Spirit, even Santa has helpers), so why not just have some sort of random generator and have it show up at your login the way PLEX does or the hacker ship you guys gave us after last patch.
Should be a simple if else statement to determine who's in the station or not. I just don't understand the low tech solution to an obviously HUGE situation.

People are so bitter, as many said you weren't "forced" to come and wait, you did so willingly.
I was there somewhat early at around 200-300 in local and still didn't get anything for it. In fact what i got for my troubles was a popped Merlin when they decided to turn on the Disco Battleships.
Am i gutted? Yes. Am i bitter and raging? Uh no, because i did the smart thing and occupied my time with something else whilst i was waiting...
People need to chill.

Like many others I waited 11 hours, nearly got blown up (structure) and watched the insane spam in local.
Even with these issues, I'm more than happy.
I was fun hanging around with people in chats, attending the congaline, getting smartbombed and seeing others get gifts.
Also Rexxior, congratulations once again. You should sell that thing though, it's quite crap in pvp :)

Did I need a prize? no, I have plenty isk and ships, but i am a little miffed that even though Holiday Spirit was doing a great thing here, and should be commended, he underestimated BADLY how many peeps would turn up and ended up breaking his promise that everyone gets something. I dont know about anyone else, but Im of the opinion that when you make a promise you keep it.
Anyway good event Holiday Spirit, good work you are a generous fellow - bring more ships next year - LOTS MORE!!

I'd be interested in hearing how Holiday Spirit picked people to give ships too.... does he go A to Z or does he look at the time stamp in the chat log to see in what order people said "Hi" to him? I'm pretty sure I was one of the first to say "hi"... at least one of the 750! Kudos for Holiday for the effort and generosity... but as with many others.... it's disappointing to sit in front of the computer all day... getting major wife agro..... and not having anything to show for it except a case of carpul tunnel on my mouse hand from blocking so many spammers in chat.

Thank you all for your well wishes, she is doing fine. She has a severe ear infection. They gave her meds for the pain and to clear it up.
Reading some of these posts, it looks like a few people are disgruntled, as always, but that a lot of people had fun. I personally was in system from 1000 game time to about ten minutes after Mr. Spirit docked, but am glad that I showed up anyways^^ It was a test of my computers rendering capability, if nothing else, and it's good to see that there is at least one event and/or individual that can bring together so many people who are hear for the fun......alright for the free gifts, but still, It's good to know.

I'd like to point out that the majority don't take an issue with what we did or didn't get, but simply that HS didn't live up to his promise.
The thing that makes HS different from the scammers is that he isn't a scammer, he's lived up to his promises in the past and we trust him.
This year's mistake was an easy one to make, it would just be nice if those who waited and got nothing were reimbursed later or something

Another year has passed, and the Event was a total MONSTER this year.
At one time there were over 1300 pilots in the system, and my best guess is somewhere between 1700-1800 showed up throughout the event.
With that many pilots showing up, and only around 750 ships to give away, it got a bit nerve racking.. and add to that the local chat flying by faster than I could read it, and hundreds of trade windows constantly bouncing onto my screen.. it was a heck of a ride :)
But, I think overall it went fantastic. Many special prizes were given, including T2 ships, battleships, faction mods, etc..
Some people, it seems, were around for a long time and ended up not getting a ship.. for that I am sorry. I never expected such a massive turnout (and next year I'll be ready for it).
Imagine trying to keep track of over 1000 pilots in a station, new one's docking and undocking all the time.. trying to remember who got a gift already, figuring out their race and age.. wow..
Toward the end I just started throwing ships at people.. that seemed to give me the ability to get them all out the door at a steady pace.
The event will be back again next year.. now it's time to get back to that mysterious thing called 'real life' and have some fun with the family.

I don't know whether it's possible or not, but I think we should get CCP in on this next year, or at least a few ISD members to try and keep things in line.

I've read some of the thread here.. and want to clarify..
I had 750 ships built and set up.. that took a couple weeks to get done.
With 1200+ peeps in local, it is impossible for me to know 'who got there first', so at first I just started with the A's.
Then I started doing every 3rd name in the A's, then B's, and on through Z's. Every time I gave a gifty, I clicked on the person's icon so their picture showed up. If a picture was showing, that person already got a gift.
Then I went back to the top and worked my way down again, picking those who didn't have their picture showing yet.
A few times I went Z to A, but you get the idea.
I know there were people in local who were talking about how long they'd been waiting, and when I happened to catch one of those comments I made it a point to go straight to those folks first. Unfortunately, if I blocked everyone, I wouldn't have seen anything at all.
So.. that's the 'method' that I used to go through the giant list of pilots who were in the station. If I'd have just started at 'A' and worked my way down, I'd have run out of ships before I hit the M's hehe.
No real way to make it 'fair', other than everyone had just as much of a chance to be passed over as anyone else did.. and everyone had just as much of a chance to not be passed over.
I did have plenty of non-ship items, and I continually cranked those out to people when the ships ran low. After 6 hours of nonstop (other than a fresh nog and a slice of pizza) gifties being cranked out, I had to stop. The lagfest that was my client was enough to make a grown man cry - but I was too busy laughing, after all, this is FUN :)
I think next year I'm gonna have to get me some elves to help. I'll assign specific letters for them to take care of. I'll do the A's and B's, and the prizes - and someone else can do the other letters. That should make it run smooth.
I just never expected this many people to show up. I was even told to NOT announce it in the help channel, as I had done every other year (so I didn't).
Last year was what I considered 'big', because it was the biggest Galactic Giveaway I'd had, with around 450 people. Bang zoom, 1800 show up.. surprise surprise hehe.
Anyhoo.. that's how the gifting was sorted out.

This was NOT a CCP event. It's just something I do myself every year.
Yep, just one guy. No support from CCP, no ships, no gear, no nothing. Every bit of it comes out of my own factories, from my own mining and my own wallet.
I noticed someone saying something about being a frustrated subscriber, and didn't want to have CCP getting a lot of moanmails because I ran out of ships.

Hey, Holiday Spirit, you did a really great thing today. I think most of us understand that you got caught off guard. I was one of the ones who waited from 14:00 Eve time and received nothing. Yeah, I'm a little miffed, but that's all in perspective. Seriously, you are the Holiday Spirit. As for fair, life ain't fair, even at Christmas time. But even if it's not fair it can still be pretty damn good.
Planning-wise, it would be cool to see some kind of activities surrounding this event like a big snowball fight, or like the conga-lines that happened earlier in the day. I think that would be even better than just getting gifts, and it would probably be easier to organize than handing out a bazillion fitted ships.
Anyway, kudos to you. Merry Christmas, happy holidays, and all that good stuff.

While I admit I was a little sad I didnt get a ship, I just wanted to stop on to thank Holiday for putting a huge effort into this event.
And working through the insane ammount of spam and crap must have been a huge effort. I remember mainly just staring at chat watching it scroll by faster than I could even think of reading.

I've still got all my snowball launchers on my ship from years gone by.
I can't remember if it was last year or the year before, I tried to get CCP to 'grant' me some snowballs to use for the event - even if it was just for me to undock and fire some off at people when the event was finished, but they said they couldn't do that.
Snowballs were fun, but they apparently caused a few 'police actions' due to people thinking they could shoot back at the snowball throwers with something other than snowballs :)
Next year I'll be ready for it though. I estimated, based on the 'growth rate' of the event over the previous five years, that there would be around 650-700 people who would show up. "Caught off guard" is an understatement hehe.
I think the second year we set up a race track near the station, using anchored cans, and pilots were able to use those for a variety of things. A conga line is nice, and it's a shame I didn't have the time to join in this year.
Heck, in previous years, there were actually lulls in the action that gave me a chance to undock and stretch my legs a bit.. this year it was nonstop trade windows :)
Thanks again to all who showed up, I promise next year will be far more organized.

I figured I was ahead just by solving the puzzle and getting there way early. The present was finding out I was right. Didnt mind the wait or the lack of a present. I did mind the spammers and trade window assaulters on Spirit. Should be a spammer ban rule in chat. Five blocks on a person in one minute and they are banned from the chat till they log in again. Anything to slow them down.
Had fun - saw another bit of the universe I would have no reason to go to and really appreicate the effort Holiday Spirit.

it wouldn't surprise me if the growth rate was exponential and that 450 --> 1800 --> 3000 isn't out of the realm of possibility....
For that, I've got 2 things....
1. Absolutely agree with the assessment that this should be treated as a stress test by CCP next year & in return, some 'accomidations' [fitted elves] should be provided in return for this valuable information....
2. How can I help 365 days from now (or donate to the cause)? this is the first thing in EVE that I want to do by jumping in with both feet...

Thank you Holiday Spirit! first time I attended this gifting event, didn't get anything, but two friends did and that was cool. Your hints were great, but I didn't really figure it out myself, had and Elf helping and so was one of those 1900, was there from 1100 and still there rest form all the things happening around us. WOW. And no CCP support, double WOW! Your kind and generous man, and and noting you had said form the start you had only 750 ships anything doing the Math would have known the result no ships for some.
Plus as you had mention it was one man job with no official Elf's this was outstanding you got it done and had fun doing it! Glad your going to have Elf's next year to speed up the process, as you have drawing as well as trades and keeping track of it out was amazing. I figured your were doing the A-Z and maybe going back the other way and skipping X number each round so that was good idea.
CCP needs to have monitor able to block spammers (via lock of game for a week or more) Quickly instead of each of us having to do it, I had figured out how to look at the log form pass research I had done. Using Icon to see who had received a ship was good one too. So from me and my friends we say Mahalo and Have a great Happy Holidays you deserve it man.
And CCP if you reading this do something creative to stop and purge spammer's we paid good money here to play this game why are Spammers still doing this in EVE after all the improvements to the game. I think that is why some many are upset all the spamming they put with while waiting. Plus Concord didn't protect and blew those that raided the conga line, which I bypass by coming early! One guy blew 36 HS hopefuls which he loss nothing while doing in High security! So spammer and pirate's that get away without loss of their ship is not cool, especially on rookie ships which have no chance against a Battleship. No I was in line but this was not nulsec so I expected a bit of Concord action not just flying Concords doing nothing but causing a bottleneck. So see you next year in bigger and improved Holiday Spirit event!

Truly, thank you for trying to do such a monumental undertaking. I will attempt to be there next year, and get something this time :D. Waited 8 hours, but wasn't at my computer the whole time like some of these guys.

if you have a second account having that alt actualy do the trades will keep you from having the same trade window issues, and keep you from getting convos and all that crap. or having some trusted second party do it,
as to the people showing up, and not being prepared, that i can understand who knew 1800 people would show up?
it was interesting to watch and yeah, ive never seen scroll that fast before ever.

It's less that we didn't get free stuff, more that we were promised free stuff and didn't get it.
To clarify, I fully understand that the numbers of participants was underestimated, and that Holiday still deserves a medal for hosting this event at all. I am only annoyed that I had to sleep through it and lost my prize (well, I can only assume it was given away since Holiday hasn't replied to any of my messages in chat or on this thread)

thank you holiday spirt for that magnficent event last night it was very fun to be there, and all though i did not recieve anything, due to my bad internet being disconnected at 11:00, i still felt that being there was a good enough reward.
i feel ashamed by the people complaining that they have been on all night and didnt get anything, i had been on since 06:00 eve time, and anyway christmas is not about getting it is about giving and holiday spirt and a few other people were doing all the giving
So everyone should be grateful that holiday took his time to spread as much joy as he could.
And holiday spirt if you should want an elf next year i would be honoured to help you.

I still think the execution of all this was very poor though, this was bound to happen.

Thanks Holiday Spirit for this, I was in the system for just over 12h, since there were like 55 people. It was a lot of fun for everyone, specially the pre-party conga line (until someone decided to smartbomb the lot, that was not fun for the ones that got podded I assume).
I didn't get anything big, just a t1 fitted Thrasher which I can't even fly (caldari toon, was hoping for a Caldari t2 ship) but I had a lot of fun nevertheless, the thrasher will find a way to someone who can put it to better use in the same spirit it was given to me. If you need help next year drop me a line, I'm just a clonejump away.

Thank You Spirit. This was one hell of a enjoyable event. I had a nice convo with people who hadn't gone mad at everything you said. I enjoyed surviveing the CONCORD onslaught and taking part in the origanal konga line.Even if I hadn't gotten my Holiday Probe, I still would have enjoyed. Will defently be attending next year.

Last event had 400 players show up.
Holiday Spirit thought there might be more this year and got 750 ships.

Holiday Spirit did everything he could. I know some of you couldn't get anything all, but it's not really his fault. He probably thought 600 people max would show up. Free stuff is often hard to hand out because people are normally warry so he probably thought the 750 ships was probably gonna leave him a lot of them behind from small attendance. It was a logistical problem, not a personal problem with him decieving anyone.
I'm sure if it is asked, at least a few people will come forward to say they recieved a ship and it was indeed free.

I also didn't get anything, but I wasn't there for free stuff. It was a super fun event, even more impressive if you consider that it's just one person's doing. Met some nice people, gave out some small (and bigger) presents of my own - it was welll worth the time, even if just to see the amount of CONCORD that showed up after the smartbombs (pretty as snowflakes).

couldn't have said it better myself so i just quoted u. I went there for the event because there were thousands of people there. It was crazy fun. There defiantly needs to be more events like this one. Someone should throw events for just large gatherings for all the major holidays :D

I would like to apologize to HS for my previous comments.
I honestly thought this was a CCP event given the scope of it. I had no idea that this was the efforts of one player.
If it had been CCP, as previously thought, I thought it was pretty crappy to tell players to expect something only to not deliver given the fact that they are CCP! If you can give me a crappy hacking ship that doesn't do a lot, why can't you deliver on a promise made in the forums?
The fact that you are a player and paid for this out of your own pocket, put up with comments such as mine (and those much worse), not to mention the insanity that was local for hours on end, I believe if anyone should get a special gift from CCP, it would be you Holiday Spirit.
I would like CCP to do one of two things:
1) Give this guy a job or some sort of special status. If he's doing this for the greater good, HELP THE MAN OUT!!!
or
2) Give him a special ship or a cash award or even a special title or something!
Seriously, this guy is what makes games unique.
I'm sorry for being such a douche. Thank you very much for the effort on your part and thank you for making this community better. I'm also sorry you had to put up with such crap, including from me.

Ok, got the mem card from my camera drone, trimmed the odd ones, and there you go ;-)
First one is the most interesting, I think. Lots of things to see there:
- look at the time: 5+h before Spirit arrived and we were already having a really good time ;
- that was during the "rookie ship, rookie fit pvp contest", and you can admire how some stuck by the rules (there's AtheistOfFail having a web, others with two guns, etc.) and how others forgot to bring their bravery in (oops, sorry Orpheus, I forgot the "give me your money and I'll tell no one" part of this blackmail stuff ;-D ) ;
- you might get a sighting, upper left corner, of a couple drakes roleplaying tinsel --- actually they said they were fighting, but their shields hardly noticed ^^
Pic 'g' was shot just before 7pm... iirc, it's that conga line that got not-so-smart bombeb ^^ (I was docked by then, shuffling with fleet stuff.)
Last pic is when I decided to go back home. I guess it took a downtime to get the station rid of all those cops ;-)

I probably still have it but i was there 6 hours before the event, then took a 2 hours break and came back to see "mini Jita" up to 1100 players.

Merry Christmas!
Following on from the success of this event, I will be running a new giveaway on this special day.
The location will be the Jita Solar System. Please all dock up in Jita 4/4 station, Caldari Navy Assembly plant.
I'm not disclosing how many I have to giveaway but people who say "I want a Navy Raven" in Jita local have the chance of getting one!
Regardless, everyone in Jita will go away with something.

Well, now that the event has died down, I'd like to say a few not so nice things.
Firstly, in the OP, HS stated all you had to do was say hi and dock up. Hearing that Lai Dai was a lag field I headed to one of the two other stations. Guess what, to the best of my knowledge HS only gave ships to those DOCKED AT THE LAI DAI STATION. No where before he announced the location did a specific station get mentioned. So someone who just turned up randomly only had a 1 in 3 chance of actually getting a ship. Go figure.
Next, I'm in the UK. So I'm sure a fair few other UK players will sympathise when I say that nothing good in EVE ever thinks about us. Competions, cinema adverts, player run events off the top of my head. The event got started around 10pm in the UK. Now all those younger players who have thier parents pay for their account, no chance of playing that time of night, even in the school holidays. What about those who have a god-awful job that requires them getting up at 6am? (this is my catergory btw) Well, I stayed up till about 4:30am, hoping I'd get a trade window, for nothing. Actually, I got a ****ed off boss yelling at me because I was 5 mins late for work, and I had to work a 14hr shift. Not fun on 2.5 hours sleep.
Now, to local, so busy was it I had to ask how to join the empire chat. Lucky for me, some guy saw my plee for help and was able to private convo me. Thanks random guy. Also related to local. Some other random guy broadcast for all to add me to block lists. Simply because I declared I lost the game. ****... Lost the game. As it happens I wasn't chatty much in either local or Empire but still.
People, keep your alts away. Dont be greedy. I could have brought my alt along but one ship is enough for me. Regreting my choice since having 2 chars would have given me a better chance of getting one ship. But then someone else would have been in my shoes...
Finally, theres HS's promise that everyone in system will get something. To my knowledge, you can be on the other side of the glaxay and still be able to send raw liquid ISK to other players, so as a last resort, why couldn't he do this?
In summary:
I spent 30 mins travelling to Inoue, lost 100k isk as a gift to the guy who told me how to get into empire chat (I don't feel bad about that, 'tis the season for giving anyway, would have given more but only having 10mil ISK limits a person's genorosity), spent 7 or so hours docked in a station, not even mining or something equally dull but money generating, had a bad day at work and didn't get anything for my troubles.
I'm sorry HS, but if you make a bold promise like everyone will get something, stick to it, and bring in some clear rules like exactly which station to actually be at.
Thankfully, this dissapointment has paled in comparision to how I started my Christmas this year. But you don't need to hear that (except by popular demand).
Rant over now and my gf wants to use my laptop. Merry Christmasd and all that Jazz.

No, you go figure! And next time, do it in anticipation, please. Just because you're too dumb to even care about how things are gonna be handled is not an excuse to blame others for your misconception of stuff.

And that started with EVE, maybe? You have two choices there: either you go live somewhere else or you at least try to make this kind of event happen UK-centric.

Local was so busy just because of a lot of people who, like you, didn't care enough to read what had already been told a dozen times in this very thread. I, for one, named the station as soon as it was known in my post, at the bottom of page 3. The rest you should have guessed by yourself.

You're not sorry, or you wouldn't be annoying us with all your blabber. If you wan't clear rules every time, every where, then don't play with other human beings or you'll get hurt. A lot!

I don't think anything else than a sed/python/perl/younameit script would care to skim through what got logged after 8pm ^^
Plus there was a lot of inappropriate language and ascii "art" during "local seizure times".
Actually, the real fun was before that ;)

Here's a clue. If a guy is going to trade things to people as gifts, wouldn't it be a good idea to make sure you're in the same station he is so he can open a trade window with you?
If you stopped for 10 seconds to think about it, you would've realized how much work this was for one person and made it easier to be picked rather than moaned afterward that he didn't find you hiding in a dark corner of the wrong station.
It sounds to me like you got exactly what you and your selfish, entitled attitude deserved - nothing.
