Make it the way it used to be some time back: If you're scrambled, your ship won't go anywhere, full stop.
This way, people won't lose their ships to NPCs who haven't scrambled you if they CTD (and u cant use the log off tactic to get away from NPCs either ^^) and they can't log out to to save their ships in PvP (if they haven't got enough WCSs, in which case they could've just warped away anyway).

How about no? We need more PvE lovin' than PvP! I intend to turn EVE more game where everyone can sing and dance and hunt down ebil NPC pirates.
So NO. Web STILL slows you down btw.. Why you wanna get 2 midslot uber items to ONE item? Whats the point for webbers after that? _______________________________________________ My opinions aren't my corporations opinions.

1. Whoever posted about the webbers, reread the first post please.
2. Simple solution, god knows why they removed it.

What ****es me off even more than people who log, is that even if you manage to kill them in time and break their tank (WHICH FOR SOME REASON CCP FELT SHOULD STAY ACTIVE EVEN THOUGH THE CLIENT ISN'T), their pod instawarps and there is virtually zero chance of you killing them.
Don't say use smartbomb, I've only ever seen that work once. _____________________________________ Perpetually driven, your end is our beginning. "Can I be a consultant for EVE II?" - WhiteDwarf |

even easier fix is to make it so you have to wait 15 seconds without doing anything.

How about a simple timer if your ship is shot or has any outside effects on it such as scrambler it will take a full 2 min befor your ship vanishes, and this timer will reset if you are shot again or the scrambeler cycles. so if you can warp you will still warp but if you cannot warp away and are in a fight you will not just vanish.
and if you are really ****ed off with the pod warping away after you kill the ship wait and if he logs back on he will warp right back to where you killed his ship .

Yepp. And it will get worse with the hitpoint increase.

Why don't they just make npc scramblers qualitatively (not merely quantitatively) different from pc scramblers and increase the ctd/log out timer.
If you only have an npc scram on you when you ctd, you should still warp away after the current allotted time even if you don't log out after +2 minutes. Then you could reasonably extend the logout timer to 10 minutes.
There is more than one kind of logout exploit at work too. Pirates tend only to complain about the one that hurts them rather than the ones that help them. Typical vocal minority.

Signed and double signed.
This is such a pathetic thing for people to do, but it's even more pathetic that the GMs list it an a valid combat tactic.
There's bound to be a better solution than the ship disappearing

Signed! This will destroy the game if CCP lets it go on. Im sure it will be out of control with the hit point increase. Hahahaha what am I saying! It is already out of control now.

It works most of the time in my experience. Firing two large named, staggered after the ship goes down but before the pod shows up on scanner, tends to do it nicely. If you wait for the pod to show up on the scanner, itll be outta range before the server fires the smartbombs.

I agree with this, but I hate to lose a ship due to CTD, and just lately that been happening a lot when mining, and just as NPC's turn up. You know the thing, launch drones, start to lock target BAM CTD! So the point is to balance between a real CTD, and a 'tactic' of logging.
There must be a logical solution, and in my thinking a 'logout' must send a 'request' to the servers telling it that you are login off. I suspect a CTD wont. So with that in mind, CCP must be able to work some code around that.

Aye Roger, but that would still be exploitable I think. What if things get nasty and you disable your network connection in windows or litterly pull the plug. Or maybe kill the EVE process. No logoff request, the EVE server detects a connection loss and can only assume that you CTD'ed. Lame, yes, but I'm sure there are people who would do such a thing.
This whole logging issue unfortunately is technically more complicated than most people think, as CCP can never be sure if you CTD'ed or not.

they should do what other games do when fighting ncp if u log or ctd u stay for 30-60 seconds when fighting players 5 mins if u ctd then unlucky sh|t happens.
its good fun to go bs popping in frigs once in awhile but half log so back to ganking

Get a clue, this isn't about pirating, its about lame ass tactics by ppl who haven't got the balls to go down with their ships - it hurts every kind of warfare.

There is only one logout exploit, and that is logging out to allow your ship to survive combat because you couldnt escape an other way.
All other logouts are people who are just leaving EVE to go do something else.
I'd like to see a 2 minute sensor recalibration time, cut short if something starts shooting at you, on logons as well. But only if CCP can fix that ******* logon-warp to gate-die crap.

Nope, there's two problems, both of which are outlined here, in a thread with a suggestion on how to fix them as well.
Of course, Rollin flamed that thread, so evidently he feels that the only problems are the ones he has as his time, opinion and issues are more important than that of 10 million other people (using his words, check the thread).
Anyhow, feel free to post your idea on that thread, let's see if we can get enough support together on it to get CCP's attention. I don't care WHAT the solution is, as long as it at least narrows the problem down. ------------------------------------- // The views expressed by this poster are not the views of the poster's corporation, alliance, planet or television network... but they should be. |
