Well and truly signed. If you are warp scrambled you should not be able to warp out.
Had an FA Megathron do this to us... TWICE!!! We had 4 frigs and a prophecy attacking him, and tbh he would have stood a good chance had he stayed logged in (he had a web, and nearly took out a crow before logging).
The first time he logged off we managed to get all the way through his tank, and then got him well into structure.... and... *poof* ship disappears.
10 minutes later, he logged back in and auto-warped to where we were sitting. We attacked him and... he logged again!! Thankfully this time we got the ship down. -- jamesw Rubra Libertas Militia

Signed. Logging off is never valid way to avoid combat. If you lose connection, well, that's too bad for you.

There is only one logout exploit, and that is logging out to allow your ship to survive combat because you couldnt escape an other way.
All other logouts are people who are just leaving EVE to go do something else.
I'd like to see a 2 minute sensor recalibration time, cut short if something starts shooting at you, on logons as well. But only if CCP can fix that ******* logon-warp to gate-die crap.
Your insight is baffling. RUS was never who I was referring to. Thanks for playing though. ------------------------------------- // The views expressed by this poster are not the views of the poster's corporation, alliance, planet or television network... but they should be. |

TBH and not to troll this time, I must say that last weekend while I was dual logged mining on my apoc and hauling on my other char, I had computer freezing up frequently. And it didn't help when I went doing mission on my main char and hauling on other char.. When you hit certain item/target/issue/area/deepspace while having sounds enabled (Dosen't even need 2 EVEs open) you get CTD if your lucky or total computer freeze if your unlucky like me.
On the trolling note, how does this "logoff tactic work" ? _______________________________________________ My opinions aren't my corporations opinions.

Is there not some kind of check that can be put in place where if a client crashes the ship vanishes right away, however IF the player closes the client then the ship WONT vanish??
Sounds resonable to me if there is a way to do it Im not a pirate, I just like to hurt people |

i personally think that if u dont have the fire power to bing a bs down within the two minutes it takes for the bs to disapear if warp scrambled u were unlikely to ever be able to. as for him warpin off after loggin out, if u aint got him scrambled.... nuff said

Simple Solution- Have a 30 minute log timer like in all other MMORPGS. Moving, shooting or being shot would interrupt the log off process. Oh and of course ccp 1 week banning anyone using this exploit

Tie it into security status, make -10 take an additional ten minutes whereas +10 would be instantanous.

Seriously as in every MMO Eve represents a community, rules need to be established to keep the community from feeding on each other.
As is Sec status is meaningless, CCP NEEDS to implement something to discourage Negative Sec Status.

CCP needs to discourage people from thinking of .1-.4 space as just a more lucrative version of safe empire space... oh wait, thats why pirates exist.

First of all : Logging off to save your ship is an exploit. It's not less of an exploit just because you happen to have a high security status.
Second : There IS a punishment to having a low sec status. You can't go to high sec systems, which is limiting your options a lot when buying new equipment. You can have stuff delivered and similar, but it's still more complicated, time consuming and expensive than just going 1 jump and getting the stuff you want. You are also forgetting that sentries won't help you if you have -5 or lower sec status.
I don't mind a 10 minute timer for logging out, it makes a lot more sense than the current 1 or 2 minutes or whatever, but it should definitely not be a timer that is decided by your sec status - logging off or pulling your cable is an out of game tactic, not an ingame tactic, and should be treated as if you were falling asleep while being attacked - your ship doesn't disappear just because you're not doing anything.

im all for it on one account, NPCs warp scramblers shouldnt affect, simply because occasionaly, being on a 56k, ill have to get asap or the phone will ring an ill pull plug so i can answer it(got one of those call box thingies) and am i dont have to worry about it because i know my ship will be there when i get back, i dont do it pvp and turn the call box off
but alot of the time when doing missions i dont even worry about the tacklers until last thing cause theyre just nuisances anyway, however making NPC scramblers work after you log i feel is just a bad ideasince it doesnt affect any players except the one dumbe enough to get into that situation anyway

First of all me != .
I thinks it a good idea, if scrambled you stay 'till whatever and if not then your ship automatically warps away to it's custom safe spot.
Modules and so on should stay on if they were activated at the time of CTD to give that person a chance to come back in and save thier ship.
On a final note would like to be able to stop the auto warp back to where the ship was when connection was lost etc as it can land you in deep due to changing tacital situations, for example you watch dvd come back, warp to gate and find happy campers sitting there.

Personally, I think that logout tactics are the mirror image of Teamspeak login, which I've never heard any pirate mention. Maybe because it doesn't suit them to?
Calling in a fleet from another universe is just as much of an exploit if not more so. More so because you can't do it accidentally.

Can't kill in 5 mins ? Then you really can't complain imo.

If you log off in an indy, you will die. The defence for an Indy pilot is to have this little thing called "the brainpower not to get into the situation in the first place". Take it back to your other thread. Feel free to quote this post there.
Liu's point in this thread is a valid one, and I would hate to see it locked for going off topic. If you want to talk about when and where you should pvp, don't do it here.
Back to the topic anyway... Really, the only thing you will not die in if you log off during combat is a battleship. -- jamesw Rubra Libertas Militia

Pirates (cough) 'scuse me pvp'ers feel they have the right to attack anything that crosses their path in .4 and below space. Well the 'victim's' have the right to defend themselves in any way possible, if that includes loggin off so be it. If it frustrates you, too bad. It frustates all those indy's and other players that are out to eke out a living in lower sec space. They know the risks and you should know the risk(or lack thereof) of engaging them. Why should they make it easy for you, you don't make it easy for them.
And this is not an alt, don't believe it look it up.
