What about CC's that are already deployed ? I've been looking around and can't seem to find any mention of whether they'll be migrated to the new system or just wiped from the planet. It would be nice to know ahead of time.
On SiSi everything is as is but you can only delete your extractors not start them, and you get 45,000 isk back for each one deleted.

The internet is flowing with portraits and video footage of the new characters and the feedback we've been getting is overwhelmingly positive at this point, even though only about 50 percent of the functionality has been made available in this initial test server release (my italics)
This I think bodes really well for the patch next week

I hope this is your opinion and not offical. I would be very angry if I would be forced to create an asian style avatar. Nothing against people from asia but this char is not designed to be a asian like char. I bet there are many other players who will agree to my point of view.
Dude pay attention this stuff was announced ages ago. No bloodline changes or name changes will happen. Deal with it. You can try and try you cant be me. |

No offence Saana Nara, but
It IS worrying and It DOES have point to stop work a few days before release.
It is worrying, because if somebody working under pressure until last moment - expect lots of bugs and problems. People are not machines and they can do mistakes. It called human factor. Stopping work few days before release and accepting what's done what's not can make huge influence in to final result.
Do not underestimate that.
e.g. after intensive studies, before exam recommended good rest and avoid everything that are related with studies. In this way, probability to pass exam is highest.
Therefore, in this case it could give idea worth few lines of code that will significantly improve result.

So once we have made a new character portrait, will we be able to modify our look later on? Perhaps even have a change of clothes! Or are we going to be stuck with the same look for years to come?

Yes, I do. However I really don't care what the options are, but not being able to recreate my characters as the are right now p!sses me off to no end. No matter how much I hate that ugly Achura nose, it has been me for four years now. Another face just isn't the same.
The other thing is that as a casual player I'm already having a hard time keeping track of all those names and faces. There are a lot of people I won't recognise after they changed their avatar. Those people might as well be gone, since I won't know them anymore. Sig removed. Needs more EVE related content. Zymurgist |

Is it true that once this patch goes live, all current character portraits will be erased, and if you want to remember how your character used to look like, e.g. to make new portrait look similar, you must manually save your old portrait before this patch goes live?
I don't remember where I read about this, so if anyone can confirm this I'd like to get a link. Thanks.

Sounds racist to me...afterall, you've had the avatar looking 'asian' as you put for a while already...and its not a real world game, so deal with the fact that in=Eve, races look different from RL...

Ohh, I just started playing in time for an expansion? Coooool! I have nothing to add as I'm a total noob. But hope all goes well and I look forward to seeing all the new stuff along with everyone else. The character creation process is pretty cool already imo. I'm excited to see how they make it even better.

Hopefully some of the updated planetary interaction will be in. At the very least I would expect the command center portion could be implemented separately from the rest without interfering with the other parts.

The way things currently work on the test server, existing characters go into the character editor with race, bloodline, gender and name pre-selected and unchangeable.
You could try filing a petition to get your bloodline changed; I have no idea if it will be successful or not.

Why this is an issue? You can change the race, bloodlines, and look of the char when you originally made the char.

Having been a subscriber since a few days after Trinity, I am quite pleased with the way QA and bug fixes are being addressed now. There have been some very painful releases and I'm glad CCP (with CSM's input) is actually learning from past mistakes regardless of how it feels sometimes. (*cough* Dominion induced lag *cough*)

My big question is if, after our initial appearance remake, will we be able to to change it again down the road? So that we don't have to stick wityh one portrate for the however long we play?

I recently figured I've give Eve another try after a much needed 3 year break. I don't know what delighted me more: to find that most if not all of the major complaints/promises from back then have been fixed/done or close to it plus a whole lot more or finding all my stuff intact.
Though with the mechanism in place now for redistributing skill points a huge incentive for people to resub after quitting would be granting them a small percentage of points they could've trained. Something like 5% of a lowball sp/hour average or even 1%. Just greedy from getting to redistribute those 3.5M sp from learning I guess.
I like the current Eve much better than the Eve I left. I think CCP is doing a great job on a project that's so massive in scope and scale. I look forward to this next release and I think I'll stick around for a while to see what CCP has in store for the future.

The EVE online headline news on the website says the following.
"14/01/2011 EVE Online Incursion 1.1.0 to be deployed on Tuesday, January 18
EVE Online Incursion 1.1.0 will be released on Tuesday, January 18. This latest release includes updates to the EVE Contracts system, preperations for the much anticipated Sanshas Incursions and the new Character Creator which will allow players to completely revamp their characters."
Could be just me but that doesn't sound right. Is this update just preparing for incursions or is it actually being installed

New Sansha Combat Ships
Quote: The Nation didn't just stop at paint and tactics. Prepare to be greeted by Supercarriers and Fighter-bombers among the Nation ranks. The Sanshas' new floating fortresses, purportedly known as "Revenant," are highly prized by the Nation, but rumors abound that their blueprints are not as closely guarded as one would expect.
