Seams to be working quite well to me at this point. Theres a lot of stuff that they are putting in it that they didn't let us see yet too. Maybe you just need a better computer.

Second, after trying onto sisi several times with this, the patch was almost always corrupt of failed and needed a big fat repair tool which also failed a ton of times and could not get on. IS there a way if the patch does not work or is corrupt that the individual files could be downloaded, and then run the repair tool? And with instructions of where to put the individual files and what not?
Honestly I have noticed with the larger patch sizes installers and patches tend to corrupt more and lose more info. Plus honestly downloading it in sections really makes my isp happier.
Final note, im sure im not the only one that has these problems, just offering thoughts on an alternate solution.
DUDE... get off dial up.
get high speed internet/new ISP, that is ridiculous. this is your problem not CCPs.

Yes. However if your question was "is it working the way YOU want it?" then probably not.

Actually, he likely is using high speed; but your high speed, and his, might not be quite the same. Without spending 4K a month, for example; my high speed is limited to 24 down and 1 up. I get the same problems he has; but not consistently. Those speeds are, by the way, fairly consistent accross my country; and not a result of who I choose as my ISP. There really is only one ISP here; unless you count the telephone companies broadband internet, or the 'other guys' Satellite internet.. I think they have cable too; but who wants it. The bandwidth bought off my current ISP anyway; so it's not really going to be competative.
For conspiracy theories sake, you might want to consider; that download corruption is likey caused by content approval services. Meaning, the ISP is searching your download content; to see if it is in any way, illegal, or whatever. Don't ask me, why they can't tell it's a game.. They would be doing this on behalf of the government of course; for your, and others, protection. Wouldn't want you reading that new Stephen King book, or anything. You'd think we lived in China...
Please consider that the above Conspiracy Theory; may, or may not, be true in your area, or other places.
This has been a message, of the Freedom Gruop; and you cannot see my face. I said.. you cannot cannot see my face. ..oh drat.
/whatever that was
I believe it was mentioned by CCP, that future options for character modifications; would likely be available down the road, as plexable content or some such. Provided our beloved CSM; doesn't discourage the heck out of it.
If you want to affect the changes down the road; check the CSM threads on the forums. No guarantee's your idea's will make it in; but it doesn't hurt to cast them about. Well.. it may hurt; this is EVE after all.
Last time I tried to log in to SISI, going back to the quote above; I had a download speed on the patch, that extended to 9 hours. That was for 540 MB. I should have been able to download that; in maybe 10 minutes or so. I've noticed this with both TQ, and SISI, on occaision; and believe it's just a massive bandwidth chokehold. Too many people at once. I'm not sure why the download corrupts on accaision; though, when it does, it is very consistent. You can try multiple times; with no change to the results. 4-5 days later; it works just fine.
On a side note: I'll finally be able to change my main's ugly mug Thank you CCP

1. it isnt perfect and never will be. 2. I live in central US and downloading a patch from London UK. now there is about a 10,000 mile difference between the two locations. Now see when information travels long distances signals tend to degrade and information tends to get lost, hence bugs!
But anyway back to my point, huge patches tend to have lots of bugs when downloading anyone remember trinity and the boot.ini? yeah. So continuing the question still stands, is there some alt methods to downloading this patch especially if it is 1.2 Gb in size? I dont want to spend 3 days trying to fix a bugged download.

For some of you wondering about the new PI extractors, the current status on them is: Hugely Disappointing, and overall a Big Unadvertised Nerf.
The appearance and mechanics of the new Extractor Control Unit is rather attractive, and on paper, it sounds like a huge improvement. However, the new ECU's are considerably more costly in terms of Powergrid + CPU. Thus you'll be lucky if you can deploy half the extractors you had before. Also, each head brings in roughly 15% to 25% less than before. Combine the two, and you'll easily be looking at a 33% to 50% drop in overall resource collection. Oh, and each ECU can only handle one resource, so if you need to extract more than 2 resources on a planet, you might as well forget about doing any serious manufacturing there.
Some of this will be offset by the fact you can upgrade your Command Centers without having to destroy the entire colony, but even with elite CC's, most existing PI chains will be unachievable.
We've been discussing this extensively in this thread HERE. We haven't had any Dev response on any of our concerns for weeks now, and although we're keeping our fingers crossed for some last-minute tuning of the system, our hopes are not very high anymore.

Just get the damn PI fixes in there, i.e., grouping extractors....I'm on direct course to carpal tunnel if we don't get rid of the "clickity click click click clickity click click...OK next planet" syndrome - sheesh!

Not sure about splitting it up, but could we at least get a preload link, to get started downloading the patch? Some of us have 1mbit or less connections (That's considered broadband in the US!)
Thanks for all the work on the patch

I hope this is your opinion and not offical. I would be very angry if I would be forced to create an asian style avatar. Nothing against people from asia but this char is not designed to be a asian like char. I bet there are many other players who will agree to my point of view.

I still remember the good old days when there was a patch that brought npc battleships into 0.0 and added elite npc warp/web scrambling ships, I remember coming on the forums and predictint that record numbers of battleships would be lost on deployment day... which happened on an epic scale LOL

Not only have I been unable to test the coming updates in SiSi since the test server has not been working on macs for ages.. (I would seriously like to ask for some SP compensation for SiSi(in SiSi that is, before some nubcake thinks I want SP on TQ), this has been going on for too damn long ) But also. . . I have heard very little good about this patch and that it is little more than spit and polish and nothing really new like the expansions used to be.. Also, let me get this straight; instead of fixing and updating PI, its going to be a downgrade? What the hell CCP?

I think you should stop giving lessons in computer technology.
Bugs like the infamous one mentioned one, are not caused by signal degration, but were introduced by a 'small' mistake in the command line that should have removed old files from the previous EVE version.
Second if data packages are lost in an overseas connection they are being send again. Depending how bad it becomes, the latency might rise quite a bit. If a download does in indeed become so heavily corrupted that it would introduce bugs, then the installation would be automatically prevented by the installer, since the file-checksums do not match.

This is why CCP use a content delivery network so you won't download from the UK but from a local US server.
I just did a fresh update of SiSi and the patch as of now is 1.42GB.

Hahahahaha. Weeklong skill in training queue checking in. Remember what happened the last time they touched the chat window code? Yeah, me too. How many optional patches will it take this time? 5? 10? If any chat window or keyboard shortcut bugs are in this release then the whole QA narrative in the latest CSM summit minutes will be proven to be a farce.
We really should be able to bet on this stuff in Vegas for RL money. Seriously. |

So you do call something "release version" which is getting hacked up until the very last minute, yes?
