Darius III	Posted - 2011.01.20 13:08:00 - [1] I can't believe it. Even now, three days later, it seems so surreal. I mean, I have seen some weird things, but nothing compared to what I saw last weekend. I was sitting on the Urlen gate in Perimeter just checking out peoples cargo and fittings. Along comes this Iteron FILLED TO THE RIM with JUICY FACTION MODS. I see he is 13 Km from the gate, I assume ready to warp off. This is good for me and my associates, as we are ready at a moments notice to drop a 50 K alpha-strike on the unwary. And this guy seems just ready to be ganked. MMMMMMm I love the smell of freshly killed Iteron in the morning-smells like Victory! But wait-there is a hauler warping from 200 KM out and landing on him... NOOO SOMEONE ELSE IS GOING TO GANK HIM NNOOOOOOOOOO!! Curiously, nothing happens. About that time I realize THIS FOOL IS ON AUTOPILOT! Now all the gankers are bumping him farther and farther from the gate. My voice cracking with excitement on comms "If you douche-bag losers dont get here now we are DONE FOREVER WTF WHERE ARE YOU?" "Easy man, we landing on your gate now" I seldom call names but the excitement of a 3,5 Bn isk gank always gets to me if we have to chase the target. Ahh here they are: Three insta-Pop 1400MM arty fit BS. "Who we shooting?" I didnt realize I didnt even call the targets name amid the confused excitement of the gank. I call the target, and order HOLD till hauler is perfectly positioned. "OPEN FIRE!!!!" I gave the order and within .08 of a second he is dead.. MUHAHAHAH I open the wreck and drag and drop the contents into my cloaky hauler- Nice drop indeed.. AHHHHhhhh Item #897438973579543 Is not yours to take. WHAT? WHAT THE... OMFG I HAVE BEEN COUNTER-SCOOPED. NOOOO OH MY... I CANT BELIEVE THIS "Sorry guys negative on the scoop...repeat... negative on the scoop... we were countered" ............................, ................. Quite a bit of time goes by before "Guys he got it Darius always trolls, you can tell because he isnt saying anything" I sit stunned, ***ed off, mad at myself, mad at the world, just cant believe it happened. And then, a convo is opened with other ganker who was near the wreck: "Top station" This ganker says to me. Now, I know him a little bit from sitting on same gates scanning, usually him outbound, me inbound. Not like we are friends or anything, but very casual acquaintances. I just assume he is trolling me like I would troll others: Offer them thier stuff back at a station, and close the trade with a "You REALLY didnt think I was going to hand over the goods-right? HAR HAR HAR So As I dock I say nothing on comms, nothing in the chat. the shooters are on comms with WTF Darius you trolling or not? "Check the loot history" I say, dismayed. And tehn I am blackscreened as docking commences. The instant the station lights flood my view, a trade window appears-full of faction loot from the gank-drop. I hit accept, knowing full well that the trade will soon be closed, I will end up trolled. I am dismayed that I lost the scoop, and now will be subjected to the same ridiculous trolling that I subject others to. Oh Man, sucks. And then the check mark appears and the trade is completed. What? I look in my hangar at the bottom: sure as hell- "GUYS GUYS GUYS I GOT THE LOOT" on comms... "Now he is REALLY trolling hard" comes back the response on comms. Then the convo with the counter-scooper kicks up flashing: Nice drop you got there... I say back seriously "I LOVE YOU MAN THANKS FOR THE LOOTS! I CANT BELIEVE IT!!!" He replies "We both work the same job, it was your kill only fair you get the loot" I was and still am stunned by the turn of events related to this gank. I would thank the player by name-but maybe he doesn't want his name mentioned. Unbelieveable. Also: when server restarts I am going to post some quite delicious messages we trolled the victim with =D TL:DR Guy gave us our gank drop after counter-scooping us

I personally consider the forums as part of the Eve experience and thus, part of the game. Trolling and griefing is a part of almost every MMO. This is merely how some players enjoy themselves. If being ridiculed socially isn't something the victim can deal with, they shouldn't bother playing a social game. ESPECIALLY Eve online - I mean all the press around this game leads you to believe its a cuthroat universe full of pricks ready to screw you over. Darius' antics are hardly the worst thing that could happen (No offense D)

If he starts harrass you on an alt, or ask a friend to do it, you block them. At the point where they keep going around the blocks by using excessive amount of alts/friends to harrass someone, then you can petition it as a) there's a limited block list and b) common sense apply. Either way, there's perfect tools available ingame, so plain and frank - you're wrong. There's no excessive griefing to keep stalking a player and mock him to aggravate him. In fact, I know many success pvpers who mastered that in-fighting to make your hostiles react in stupid ways. It works. Smacking, well played and not the text flood, can be a powerful tool. And the point is still, that you can ignore these 'annoyances', by blocking. So in effect, it already works as you want it to. When players go around game mechanics to harrass someone, you can petition it. But you failed to remember the block function. That's where GM's would tell you to start off. However it does raise some questions such as, just because some one is easy to annoy, does it give you a right to annoy them. Its akin to tipping someone out of a wheel chair to laugh at them trying to get themselves back into it. Ok, its no where near as harsh or disturbing as that but I do question peoples motivation. Personally I couldn't do that to someone.
