I know, right? I didn't originally intend this thread to be a troll thread, but it seems I hit 10/10 as people are now spending far more time and emotional investment over replying to it than I did over writing it.
Originally by: Ming Call OP, I hear your frustration, but in my own humble opinion, would seem a minor detail to be quitting over.
There's some context behind it.
Originally by: Ming Call Is this the last straw of a much bigger and longer term collection of issues?
Yes.

Way ahead of you.

Oh no way, man! Since I'm paid up until March anyway I'll probably still log in to train skills, might finish training all my battleship skills to V or something. Who knows, maybe CCP will actually make the changes I want and I'll uncancel my subscription.

Originally by: Jennifer Starling Maybe OP didn't make himself clear enough but I understand that he wants to swap bloodlines because he doesn't like the looks his old bloodline now offers (he's a player from 2005). Seems quite clear to me, though.
I understand that most people are ok with the new looks but a lot aren't. There's more theads about this; it has been mentioned a lot of times in the Sisi feedback threads and there's a proposal in the assembly hall with over 100 support votes already.
As for you questing my compassion and empathy which I see you have now edited out.
I was one of the ones putting a case across for allowing people to choose from their bloodline again.
If I could have found the thread that those posts were in they would have answered that compassion/empathy comment of yours better. But it's like looking for a needle in a haystack with the amount of threads that have been generated lately.

No, the thing is, I don't want to change my bloodline. I want to have access to all the clothing options and hairstyle options on my current bloodline - and more importantly, I want everyone to have that same freedom of choice on every bloodline.
There is no logical reason why a member of a bloodline could not style his hair in certain ways or not buy certain clothes. That just doesn't make sense. Race-locking certain facial shape and skin tone variables makes sense, but restricting art assets in this way is illogical and frankly counterproductive. ----- Andreus Ixiris CEO, Mixed Metaphor

as stated, the op has nothing to do with bloodlines- he is ragequitting because wants everyone to be able to wear the same clothes!
pay attention people!
and furthermore he is SO OUTRAGED that he is ragequitting 2 months in advance bacause he wants to keep playing until his sub is up in march

The reason they restrict what bloodlines/races can do (n/a to this game) and look like is to keep a seperate identity for each, so not everyone looks the same.
They could keep adding clothes, hairstyle etc. but there would never be enough to keep people looking different without imposing restrictions. Same clothes different colours, but they really just look the same.

People should do what they think is right.
And no, it's not just about clothes if you read correctly, it's about (the lack of) customization options that other bloodlines do have.

I think when we'll be able to walk in stations we'll all look a lot more the same than the forum pictures seem to suggest. No more differences in posture, angles, light effects, backgrounds, we're also all the same length. I guess we'll see 95% of the females all have the same 3 or 4 hairstyles, for example (as most hairstyles looks so silly they're quite redundant).

This argument doesn't really hold water. Have you looked at portraits lately? Everyone already looks the same, and the less options each bloodline has, the more people will look the same. ----- Andreus Ixiris CEO, Mixed Metaphor

Because op is just trolling? Who in their right mind would quit EVE over something so trivial? However, you might want to consider a few things, first of all; I now have one of those annoying sigs. second; you should probably move on to some more interesting things than reading this sig.

I have and there's plenty of very good and different looking portraits. Although can't honestly say I like yours much at the moment.
Not all the items have made it into the game yet, I suspect it was a time issue. So it would be safe to assume in the future that we will be able to customise bloodlines/races further.
If the choice is make people have more choices now and lose race/bloodline identity.
Or wait so that they have more time to add more character customisation and keep bloodline/race identity seperate.
Then personally I'd rather wait.

Edited by: Rawr Cristina on 22/01/2011 12:49:57 I was disappointed by the lack of accessories, tattoos, clothing and hair colour. Civire in particular apparently have NO fashion sense, but it's probably just as bad all over
It seems they've forcibly added restrictions to each bloodline to make it so there's still some noticeable variety between them as well as ensuring that people can't make broken faces, but we've lost a lot of customisation in the process...
Still, as bad as it is, I don't think it's anything to (permanently) quit the game over; you'll get over it eventually . (and hopefully CCP will fix this mess)

Actually going from cartoonish to more real looking is not losing identity, if anything it's actually giving them more identity. If everyone made them look the same then yes there would be no individual identity as far as looks go, but that holds true to the old system too.
Sounds to me you might have some underlying racial issues. You have to be comfortable with the characters you play.
We are not going to go back to the old system and they won't just change it because you want them to.
So you really only have two choices:
1) accept it for what it is at the moment and see when new items/styles are added.
2) Do something else.
Assuming you are not just trolling of course.

As individuals. The massive, clearly-visible and frankly somewhat ridiculous distinctions between races and bloodlines have been done away with, and everyone now looks more similar than before, which is not neccesarily a bad thing. But giving us the correct tools to allow us to individually customise our character is important, and CCP haven't.

They don't mean anything in the game (except for 1 starter skill and a corp management skill). EVE's lore and especially your decendance hasn't got any consequences in the game whatsoever.
I'll repeat myself; "I didn't pick the old look for the bloodline, that bloodline just happened to have that look. Now I'm stuck with the bloodline but the possibility to have that certain look is gone." And given to another bloodline.
Bloodlines have limited options - and in my case it doesn't have the options I want, while other bloodlines have far more options to re-make my character in the spirit of how she used to look. And that annoys me to no end.

I'll agree with pretty much all of this, but since I'm a roleplayer, the lore behind my bloodline actually has some meaning to me, so even in the unlikely event that CCP even allowed changing it, I wouldn't want to. I'd like the customisation options on my current bloodline expanded, and the same for everyone else's. ----- Andreus Ixiris CEO, Mixed Metaphor
