No, they should do it everywhere.

Originally by: Ej Raspujk The point is. You can train to hulk, battleship and make enough isk to buy a plex each month, without ever dipping into things the game offers that I would consider core mechanics.
Sov stuff is also a core game mechanic. Never get out of empire, never have to learn about it. It's a player's choice. Sandbody thinking and all that fluff. I don't see it as a fault of CCP. Don't get me wrong, they have loads, but I don't see that as one of'em.
Originally by: Ej Raspujk So they expanded on this starting area. And now we have incursion.
And any player can choose NOT to participate in them. You don't get trapped with no chance to escape. You can leave just fine.
With core vision I don't mean sov, moons, w/e, I'm talking about that eve, at it's very soul, is a pvp game with consequences. I'm sorry but I'm unable to see it any other way. Straying away from that and justifying it by saying things like "we don't design top bottum" etc is just super lame. If you indulge players who don't really get that, but just want to hang out in safe zones, you're selling out. It's one of the reasons the economy is soo ****ed atm.

I'm not complaining about doing it in regular fit, I'm wondering why push PvP fit content when the target audience isn't going to use that fit elsewhere. It makes sense in low/null, but not in hisec.
As for optional, I don't think it's intended to be completely optional, hence the system debuffs. Especially if the incursions start to hit areas that people can't ignore so easily.

If we could work out proper aggression rules for non-targetted interdiction that didn't involve CONCORD... i'd totally be in favor of it.
Also, while I think disabling CONCORD would be a bit much, it'd be nice to disable the faction police and/or customs at least (if they're not already)... _____________________ Look down. Back up. Where are you? You're on a forum, with the alt your alt could post like. |

I'm wondering why PvE content was ever designed in such a way that PvE fits could have evolved to be different from PvP fits in the first place.
Originally by: Chaos Incarnate Also, while I think disabling CONCORD would be a bit much, it'd be nice to disable the faction police and/or customs at least (if they're not already)...
Nah, you could have factional police and/or customs respond to events where previously CONCORD would have showed up. And you can RP that by claiming that CONCORD is too busy trying to hold back the Sansha elements elsewhere. ... This way, evading the wrath of what would have normally been CONCORD is no longer an exploit, and is actually expected.

- Based on a low random chance and during the final stage should Incursions batphone Pandemic Legion and hot drop player fleets with Titans and super carriers.
- Based on a high random chance should all Sansha pilots of an Incursion start talking Russian on local and take vengeance on every player who took part in driving them out of their constellations. --

+1 this too. Make some pro-Sansha sites where you trash on relief convoys or establish sansha outposts by clearing areas of faction police or (gasp) CONCORD. Completing their incursion sites deepens the incursion effects and spreads the incursions to new systems....

Yes it is bad. I should be able to solo those incursions in my purger drake.
In fact, I should be getting those LP and rewards without even doing them, I'm a paying customer damnit

If a PvP'er looses his gear in combat, sells some GTC and buys new gear would this mean the world is in order in your eyes?
How is that different to an industrialist who was acquiring materials, selling products and having to sell at a loss because of competition, and then needs to go back an acquire more of those materials.. with ingame time instead of out of gate time and buying plex? Same goes for a market manipulation gone wrong..
Give it some time.. this is the first PvE content that FORCES coordination and a fleet of ships to be done in Empire. Who knows.. maybe 3-4 years down the road we get more stuff like this.

Frankly, the entire Incursion thing is just desperately uninventive. God forbid the developers should come up with anything intelligent with regard to enemy behaviour or the tactics necessary to defeat it, nope, let's just go with big ships with lots of hit points. Yeah, great idea! nobody's ever done that in a computer game before.
Try and be a bit more original CCP. There are stacks of things you could do that would be more fun and more inventive. Why not have large numbers of co-ordinated smaller strikes in numerous systems that have to be taken out in a narrow timeframe to make a successful rebuff, necessitating the relaying of messages between widespread players? That way at least new players could join in with their Ibis and Velators and feel like they are contributing. Or perhaps have players needing to use tractor beams to pull large disabled ships into an upper atmosphere so they burn up in a decaying orbit? Or carry out stealthy reconnaissance missions to find out where the incursions will be happening? Or make strikes on staging area logistics? Or have the option to do a kamikaze-style attack on a capital ship? Or require a coordinated level of jamming to thwart the Sansha CCC capabilities? Or even necessitate a trade or productivity war.
Just anything other than pew pew pew for 25 minutes from half the populace of EVE while the lag threatens to bomb the server? It's so mind numbingly predictable. Surely you can do better than 'here comes a big ship, everyone shoot at it'?

WHy not just have incursions severely nerf CONCORD's possession of WMDs? CONCORD becomes tankable for the duration of the incursion. BETTER YET, have a CONCORD structure in the solar system, which if destroyed (or put into reinforced or whatever) will reduce the sec status of the system until the incursion is repelled.
I've always loved the idea of a dynamic sec status for solar systems.

From my POV Sansha are a notch tougher than Sleepers.. there is no rule that says we can't have Takmahl or Yan Jung two years down the road doing even nastier stuff than Sansha do now - ya know, once people got used to this. Careful, step by step, we don't want to throw the baby out with the bath water

LOL!
Obviously CCP need to hire someone of you calibur.
They were probably sitting there, dribbling and thinking to themselves.
"DUH! We need biggar ShPz and mAke dem Uber Powerful!"
And that was it they just did it. They didn't test any other content and they just left it at that. God knows the n00by carebears can handle the big dumb tough ships and whats more they do it without crying in the forums. They could easily coordinate a multi system counter attack on the Sansha's.

They get enough of those through abductions. Besides, if your pod gets away, they're not exactly getting any live bodies if they don't pod you, are they ? They obliterate things for less, but somehow the capsuleers they officially hate, they just let them leave without as much as inflicting a tad bit of pain (if to nothing else, then at least to their wallets) ? _

Not an evil idea. All incursion players would jumpclone in an empty clone each time they go for incursion combat. Just stating fact here, but if you make Incursions too punishing, then noone will go there, like low-sec, they will simply leave or do something else. Pod killing wouldn't be a minus for established players, but would hit new players hard. BTW, Akita, I thought your char was ugly, but now I just need you to stroke my hair and tell me everything's going to be ok. |

I'm still waiting for CCP to replace their current missions with ones that require PvP ship fits. Where you only fight 1 or 2 ships that tank and deal damage similar to player ships. Who are vulnerable to and capable of using all forms of ECM. That will warp out before they explode if they are not tackled (depriving the mission runner of their bounties/loot).
So I won't hold my breath for these ideas.
