Just taking people's thoughts and idea's what do you feel is the best battleships for a 1v1?

Depends really on what your fighting i feel malestrum is the best 1v1 ship but if your fighting an abaddon itll rip your shields away so then ud pull out a typhoon so id stick with an malestrum but in the end it depends on who can role best with the punches not whos got the better ship...

It depends on the situation, if I was fighting a Caldari or Minnie shield tanker, hand me a Geddon or a Abaddon and let the lights fly. Against a armor tanker? I'd prefer a Tempest or Typhoon.
Though all around, you can't beat the looks of a well built amarr craft :)

Rather vague question, if you know what you are going up against then i'm sure your could come up with the appropriate counter on you own, so i'm guessing you are looking for ship that can win against more ships than most, in that case i would recommend a Neut Domi - It's cheap and very effective against most ships it's size, and can destroy just about anything smaller than it (rare in bs's)

Unless you're going up against a neut-domi or a bhaalgorn, I'd go with a booster Mael or a dual/triple rep Hype. Drop blue pill/exile to taste and giggle.
In most other instances, I'd go with a neut-domi or a bhaalgorn :P

without going to faction ships I am actually a big fan of the Torp Raven. Its a tight fit but you can get 2 heavy neuts on there in addition to the torps. youve got enough of a drone bay to be useful, good DPS, 2 heavy neuts, good tank and exchangeable damage types.
The neuts are always handy VS anything, and the ability to go from EM to Exp to anything in between damage is always handy.

Just dump a couple a bil into a rattler and watch them never break your tank if its going to be safe 1v1 only.. becareful of Vindi tho.. which needs to watch out for machs.. which needs to becareful around B-gorns.. which.. rock/paper/scissors.
Practice cheap, OP. Domi and phoon.. cheap tier one hulls that are very, very capable solo BS ships. Try neuters, try active, try buffer, try passive, try droneboats, missileboats, laserboats, Artyboats, blasterboats.. why do you care what other people enjoy? Find your favorite.. master it, and go blow **** up.

Obviously it would depend on who, what, where, why, how u fight....
but if i had to chose one...
Abaddan + tch2 pulses + heat sinks + 1600mm plates = alot-o-tank + alot-o-spank
(substitute geddon for cheaper costs)

It will kill all other BS builds( eventually) before it pops 1v1. Will survive and kill and neut domi( in fact the domi wont be able to break its tank even with 2 sentry damage rigs). Its massive passive cap regen should allow you to run hardeners even if neuted heavily ( it is all in the timing).
As far as your fit, If you are fighting a/that baddon( that popped you)tank specifically for fighting it. A baddon can top 1100 dps. If you are 1v1 without the threat of outside interference try this:

Your opponent:
- runs MWD
- runs an omni buffer tank
- runs a 2 point
- runs 2 sinks
- has 179k EHP to multis
- 973 DPS
* all skills equal and all dps applied equally, the above setup will outlast his by 30 seconds or so.
How to Use:
1) Lock and burn to 10 KM/ run guns/ drones while you burn in range. If he is using a 2 point also( which he was on his last baddon) he will burn towards you.
2) Orbit at 10K with AB ON. Tackle, Disrupt and NOS. DO NOT run Ewar until you have him pointed, he will run.
3) Run your Cap low, very low. only inject if get dangerously close to running out of cap. You must run your cap low so you can siphon his.
4) You should be able to pop him before you run out of charges. If you run below 8 charges turn off 2 guns.
5) If he is having a hard time hitting you and you have a decent lead on HP left you can kill the AB to conserve cap.
Result:
- target cannot escape.
- Nosing will conserve your cap while draining his even faster.
- TD/AB combo should negate over 50% of his gun damage.
- Higher buffer gives you room to play even though you do less dps.
- faction scram/ his extra plate/your AB allows you to stay out of his scram range and thus allows you to bail when you want.
End result: You win.

Battleships are the brawlers of eve. if you can fit one well, most Battleships are powerful.
close range it all depends.
Scorp with racials or Multi specs plus torps will ruin alot of peoples day.
More so with minmatar though.
Raven is a powerhouse of close range brawling. as well it should (cant do **** else)
high buffer, powerful close range dps. straightforward facemelter.
Rokh. Blasters+blue pills. or neuts +torps+ blue pill is pretty fun.
I fly caldari so I wont comment on the others.
fitting skills really mean alot. if you cant fit T2 weapons dont fight with BS's

As others have already mentioned, it's a topic of rock, paper, scissors.. Yet even that is wishful thinking because soloing in EVE today much less in a BS is long gone.
Today's EVE is ruled by the hoardes of skill-less blobbers, whom can always overwhelm skilled PVPers by force in numbers.
Soloing in a BS in Current EVE Online means sitting on a station in a Arti Mael or Apoc sniping frigs/pods and noob ships for l33t battleclinic rank.

from what ive seen,pretty much any races BS can be a pretty sound pvp hull, though i havent seen many caldari 1v1. It really depends on who your fighting, and what youre trying to do with it. Also, are you trying to shield or armor tank?

I think your safest bet is an Abaddon. It has insane EHP/DPS/Damage Projection. You'll probably win, just make sure to fit a Cap Injector. Throw on a set of LG slaves and you'll probably just take a dump on the other guy.

If it's an organised 1v1 when you know what your opponent know what ship you'll be flying, laser and blaster-boats are close to unusable, simply because of the limited damage types.

Was on test server last night...had an abaddan fit with 4 1600mm tungsten plates and 1 heat sink w/ 1 nano membrain and a a DCU. was using megaII's with conflag crystals.
I cought Agro from a nightmare, raven, and tempest.
I took out the raven and nightmare before I lost my ship. I was hitten the ravens shields for about 2k dmg each volly, and once his buffer shield was gone i ate his ship up.
the nightmare pop'd right before I did, but I still got him in a 3 to 1 match.
Keep in mind i have good Amarr skills, and on SISI i had some really good implants...but the damage/tank potential of the Abaddan is just SCARY!

Its just a brick that can barely tackle.
so targets can get away, but the raven will not stop firing unless Jammed or killed.
