I rememberd when EVE was new and all flown around in frigates and the galaxy was HUGE. There where no highways so it took awhile too get from Lum too Amarr.
You could fly thrue the space and dont see any people in like 20-30 systems.
0.0 space was closed so you dreamed about going there and explore all it riches. Space was untaimed and unexplored. Those where the days...
Now EVE is small very small, 0.0 space is no longer unexplored, its controlled by alliances. The highway thrue Empire space is like Autobahn you can fly from one end of the Empire too another in a blink of an eye compared too the old days.
This is EVE once huge mystic place too live and fly thrue the spacelanes, now EVE universe is explored and a small place too live in.

I live in empire, but I too long for the old days of vast empty game world.
It really would be good to have more systems. I liked the old games like elite because they were Huuuuuge you not only felt like a small cog in the machinery - you were!

Everyone are really sensitive about the stuff they like, doesn't matter if you wan't instajumps there or gone, highways there or gone etc. You cry pretty much when they're discussing changing the things you like as well.

Torgrim, I remember those days ... but I also remember starting autopilot in my frigate to join a friend of mine in a different system, then going to do laundry, make lunch, run to the grocery store, come back home, check progress, run to the drugstore, then convo my friend to say I was "almost there".
I must say, being able to get anywhere in empire without devoting a days travel time is an improvement and believable ... improving infrastructure is something sovereigns do in peacetime. |

Yeah.. if anything it was way more accesible as there were 0.0 systems in empire space. We were mining Arkonor in Oishami, The Forge(I think). __________________________ Ketchup! Everywhere! Suckers! |

only thing wrong with Communism was the people using it and the people against it. the better system doesn't always win, ya know. look at how many people still believe in Creationalism?

How about mining Ark in empire space.... in an ibis... ...And no NPC Rats to worry about while doing it (were too far away to care about us).
And personally, I loved just how 'big' eve felt. Going from Lonetrek to Amarr space was a full day trip and something you could boast about. You didn't travel unless you had a goal.

Well done Wrangler. You have managed to create a perfect example of an annoying and useless post. In fact, it is insulting.
There are plenty of people here who argue for changes to improve Eve even though those changes will nerf their playstyle Not everyone is a selfish waaahmbulance caller; maybe you are projecting your personality on others?
Your post is the sort of mindless ingnorance which stands in the way of progress.

It's always the nature of the world to grow smaller. If they added ten times as much space now, it'd all be claimed within a day.

The original poster does have a point on one thing. The universe is starting to seem a good bit smaller these days.
CCP currently has 3 areas still reserved, probably for expansion packs of some sort, that would add a little breathing room to the game.
Jove space, though that's a "third rail" topic in itself is closed. The UUA-F4 region to its right would make a nice home to an alliance if connected up. Finally the 8 region supercluster above Cache would be an empire playground to enjoy.
Perhaps they simply await jumpdrives to access. Perhaps they are reserved for "box on the shelf" expansion sets. Regardless of their purpose in the future, some additional space and some greater connectivity (to a degree) would benefit the game in my opinion. Some connections for instance: Eastern Forge into Geminate, Mid Lonetrek into southern Tribue, Placid to Cloud Ring, the far northwest of Stain to say Saminer, southeastern Derelik to western Curse, etc. I'm sure those links would **** a few people off.
A little expansion couldn't hurt.

Do you want me to post for you while you are gone, Avon?
0.0 between regions would be lovely. Not only would it provide a challenge for those who want to trade multi-regionally (look Mum, I just invented a word!) by increasing the danger of transport, it would also provide a new role for piracy.
People say this would just increase the amount of gankgage but, if you ask me, if the partition of 0.0 between high sec space is done properly, there would be TOO many 0.0 system entry points for any one system to be camped 24/7 (i.e you have a choice between the systems you'd choose to travel via). This would force traders/travellers into a decision - do I take the shortest most-likely to be camped route between Lonetrek and Heimatar or do I skirt around the hot spots and add 40 minutes to my journey to guarentee safety........
Combine this with removal of highways and you have an Eve which is truly massive-feeling.
People may complain about travel times and they might be correct but once the regional differences kick in properly, Eve will be just as profitable per jump in trade as it is now (if not more so).

Instas and highways suck. Yes, Eve was much bigger in June 03. The universe was absolutely huge, and it gave an incredible sense of adventure and exploration that had no comparison in other games. Going to another empire truly felt like travelling to a new culture. Amarr had almost only amarr ships.. Caldari space was truly Caldari.
Then highways came and the game size shrank. They kindof made sense at one point, when the number of players on the server at any given time average 3000. It boosted player interraction and playability to some extent...
Instas..ermm well...they were never intended for the purpose they have today. There is a reason why warps defaulted to a good distance from any object in space.
Still love Eve, but it would be better without instas, without highways, and with a sizeable chunk of 0.0 space between empires. Not mainly for piracy purposes, but for the sake of the overall game experience. Director, Soldiers of Anarchy

Instas aren't going anywhere. They're part of the prime fiction now (Ruthless).
Now the highways are a different matter. It would be nice to see them nuked, but to be honest, I can't think of a way to justify removing them now they are with us.
