We all know that eve consists currently now of the following things in space
Few Decorations (aka tourist attractions) Other players ships. Sov Infrastructure. Sites on Demand (missions explore ect) Stations Planets Suns Moons Out of station agents Data centers Wormholes! Asteriod Belts Intersystem NPC traffic Static NPC ship spinning Hostile NPC patrols Stargates Billboards
Now if you think about it, that's not a whole lot, if all of the above are in a system you'd probably be able to visit them all within manner of minutes and think nothing more of it.
So if you think its time to fill eve's space up with more significant things that give pause, or wonder or may extend entertainment or steal a short bit of your time to sate your curisoity for short bit more what would they be, they could even have a use or no use what so ever.
To start things off I for one would love to see some massivly daunting solar collectors anchored near the system's sun possibly functional for melting things. Pre-order your Sisters of ≡v≡ Exploration ship today, Updated 20JAN11

I'm only on the forum now because of the horrendous lag in the game making it virtually impossible to play. It seems to happen every day after downtime, so regarging your idea about cluttering the systems up with more junk to slow the nodes down even more? I'm against it.

Your local ISP is probably restraining your 'entertainment bandwidth' in order to meet all of its customers demands at an afforable cost. I can go though Dodixie just fine and she averages about 400-600 a day in local with plenty of mutterings about and shes not reinforced at all and I live on the other side of the world from the server.
Adding onto the list.
Those nebula storms we see in missions every so often, might be a good place to publically gas mine stuff if you dont mind the stray jolt of electricity going though your ship. Pre-order your Sisters of ≡v≡ Exploration ship today, Updated 20JAN11

It's not really graphical, but i've always thought there should be signs players can drop which last for a set amount of time, instead of everyone leaving cans around with long names.
Any way to encourage people to write things for others to read at gates or whatnot would be good.

Carebears! Lots of them. And not the ones in ships, I am talking about the ones with little symbols on their tummies! I would love to be flying along and a rainbow appear, or maybe a patch of flowers.
Of course, I don't think they have space suits, so we might end up with a metric f*ckton of fuzzy, dessicated corpses floating around...
Ah, it's the thought that counts.

Space is quite empty yes, but on the other hand solar systems have a bit more stuff in it than a sun, planets, moons and few asteroid belts. In eve there is more than 8000 solar systems and more or less if you seen one, you seen them all (except backgrounds).

But the scenery changes in more ways than just various color filters. There's all kinds of wacky stuff out there.
Was saying before how cool it would be if dangerous anomalies existed and destroyed or damaged anyone who was reckless and got too close. They'd also be visible in all surrounding systems. Imagine seeing a black hole from a couple systems away looming over you as you do whatever it is you're doing.
Could also have occassional random supernovae wipe out all structures and ships in large areas of 0.0.
We alone should not be the only dangerous things in space. Space should be kicking our asses from time to time.

Actually you are quite very wrong, 'our' inside our galaxy overall isnt all that black and bleak either its a nice green-blue hue as with most of the universe is, just local light sources destroys that perception easily as similar to the ability to see stars during the day, or in busy cities at nights.
'Our' space is rather crowded its the gap between galaxies are probably the most emptiest even then there is specualtion of matter out there just left over quid bits from the bang.
And how full is our space? There is more than enough atoms of hydrogen that if you tried going Faster than line in our space in a ship of significant size by conventional means you're going to burn up becuase of all the friction your going to encounter. Were also in effect talking about a space faring culture as well for objects in space. Which is why star treck's space compression idea might be a BAD idea you might wind up with a face full of fusion or worse a blackhole.
Aside that back to the things in the game you'd think a space faring culture would have far more infastructure surrounding entire planets or more things at key locations, not just one space dock we see, we're talking shipyards, mining outposts, orbital farms, power statinos, survey stations, comm relays all the sorts. Which mostly they have had, it just seems they coviently moved them into two station structures the stations we all know and love and star gates. But alas most of these extra things 'do' exist, and they're supposivly everywhere thanks to missions.
Unfourtunately thats the only place they exist, it would be nice to see more arragments that are in missions be moved to the rest of the system and given an outside mission purpose. For example a research station dealing that has a particle accelerator could be exported out of the worlds collide mission and put into the world as an actual research station that deals with quantum phsyics where you can find said research agent. Something dynamic happening. Like a nebula being created, starsystems blowing up, you know, like in regular space.
What gets me is the sameness of every system, they all contain the same (maybe not stations) but at different distances. Theres no flavor to them. It's just System-number-xxxx.

Furthermore to the subject of space isnt empty. There is still molecular activities in volumes that have been vacummed out to be devoid of mass but those thoeries get interesting after a while.
I for one would like to see an a cold spot in eve, places that if you go there would frost over your ship a bit the star burns a bit cooler as you navigate around in places that are nearing absolute zero, be a freezer in space.
On the flip side a hellish spawl of a star being born would be something interesting to obseve from afar since binary stars can be gapped far away enough to be somewhat observable but allow for margin of eplicit stability between the two systems but thats mostly a background and system wide effect. If you wanted a frost effect all you'd have to do is pass through a pocket of liquid. Nearly all space is cold enough to freeze it to you.

Actually there are pockets in space far far far more colder than the normal molecular activity of space that nears absolute zero, or the lack of any acitivy in the particles. The naturally existing absolute zero in space would make our space earth occupies seemingly and thankfully warm. How cold is absolute zero you ask? The closest man made environment consiting of nitrogen under special conditions gets pertty close, Light travels at 18mph though it, thats how cold it is.
And to further things along the original topic.
Would love to see a real ring around a gas planet. not this paper thin graphic i mean complete with usless ice and rocks and dust. Pre-order your Sisters of ≡v≡ Exploration ship today, Updated 20JAN11

My point was that you can't get frost without something to freeze. It doesn't take a very low temperature to freeze liquid, so how much further it goes beyond that is irrelevant.

You can get frost by running into it and it sticks to your ship hull because your ship is ionized from the shields anyways and your ship is considerably warmer than the surrounding envrionment where in this scenario would start to form a shell of ice around your ship. Because the affluences of your ship are constantly fighitng the local envrionment.
Another thing I want to see is a variety of moons give them a face lift as well, though true most are dead terrestials one doesnt have to look far to see some interesting moons from jupiter and saturn. Pre-order your Sisters of ≡v≡ Exploration ship today, Updated 20JAN11

But that would happen many places in space, not just in the coldest places possible.
Your ship would also most likely submit to outside conditions for the outer layer, creating a buffer zone, instead of bothering to fight them.

Edited by: Clacker McDucky on 19/02/2011 20:11:21 To beat a possibly dead horse, I still think walking in station and interacting with people socially would be nice. Of course, just walking around would be boring, but having casinos and games of chance, arcade-like games in competition for each other's hard earned isk/items, and a general meeting place for trading items and socializing would be great. This would be especially nice for those dual boxers who mine or for when you're camped in and want to do more than just stare at a screen.
Sit down at the virtual table, have a real beer at home, and play a few hands of Gallente hold 'em to rid yourself of the lp, isk and items that you just spent two boring hours missioning to accumulate. Meanwhile the guy/gal on the other side of the table just acquired them from you in 20 minutes while having good clean gambling fun. Or maybe it happens the other way around, but who cares, cuz we'd be having fun drinking and playing.
