First you will have to ask yourself, do you like EvE Online?
If you are hesitant to answer that is probably because you think that some behavior is crossing a line in regards to supposed maturity or getting the feeling the game is not run by the right people (not pointing at CCP here, on the contrary)
Goonswarm has a reputation (true or not) of wanting to ruin games and have been stopped in their tracks a few times.
Some believe Goonswarm is just about arshattery.
Well this is arguably true for some of the members (coming from somethingawfull.com).

Now, how much better would EvE be if all players would be civil like the first 4 speakers?
ThatGÇÖs another question, but letGÇÖs keep focusing on whether it is still true today that goonswarm is not out to destroy the game.
Logically, mittens got banned and actually got off easy IMO. He also GÇ£resignedGÇ¥ as CSM 7 Chairman.
He then officially apologized only to state to seek revenge after receiving the ban. Burn Jita.
This was dually obvious that it was revenge because after the Jita riots, also fueled by Goonswarm propaganda, it was agreed upon that it would be a onetime event.

Did you know that this have cost quite a few people there job since CCP had to lay of 20% of their people!?
Not the only reason of course, but it didnGÇÖt help either and a much more professional approach should have been expected if goonswarm actually wanted to help to keep the game entertaining and solving the problem at that time.
Since than, the forums, and the most visited General Discussion in particular, started to see a flooding of created threads about how bad CCP is. How bad there service is, How bad the game is. How bad other players are. Not to mention the grieving is getting worse and worse.
And do not be fooled here. You might see a lot of those threads made by GÇ£non-goonswarmGÇ¥ characters. But they are Goonswarm characters (pets or otherwise), it is the way they roll.
Now factor in that they recruit scam constantly. One guess for the main target? Yes, players who barely got their feet down in EvE. They also troll every fair question of people that just started playing in a way that makes EvE look like a pool of drug abusing psych maniac toddlers.
Now wonder why EvE has trouble retaining new players?
Ever notice how many threads like that come from worries fellow capsuleers?
Also, if you are a goonswarm tackler, please know that GÇ£tacklerGÇ¥ is just a polite term for meat shield. It is not fun for you, you are being used, and every resource you have gets depleted. Regardless of ship replacement program. You are a resource as well you know! You could have spent that time actually enjoying, exploring, looking into other gameplay features, built up some fat ISK wise and maybe create your own corp one day or even an alliance. This pretty much goes for 90% of you people in goonswarm.
Also, since goonswarm is losing the war now, they are already making plans how to maintain at least the CEO / officer accounts. This means you are about to get ripped off. It would not be the first time this happens.

It is good to see that forces opposing goonswarm finally started to collaborate. Even if they canGÇÖt stand each other, they have set aside their difference for this one goal. Get rid of those who ruin the game for everyone and seem to be out to destroy CCP out of a weird sense of entitlement and revenge.
I think there are a lot of gamers out there that are more entitled to get to experience EvE than this one group are entitled to ruin it.

Kill a Goon a day will make your troubles go away.
They are not the ones writing the great stories,someone like Chribba is, John Rourk with Clear Skies etc.
Those are the great stories.

People like Chribba, while obviously extremely well known and liked person in the game, do not create as much buzz than people like Mittens and the goons in general. Speaking from the perspective of a former carebear (up to recently), the Burn Jita incident was one of the most fun events in the last 12 months or so. Going to null and saving Chribba's system once, while fun, didn't make that lasting impression. |

Also do you have any idea how much isk Newbees earn from simply turning up to fleets? People throw money at them and Newbie tacklers are only meat shields when enemy FC's are ******** enough to primary rifters...

The thing about Goons that you should all be thankful for is they are the only player group that can really abuse the **** out of a fault/exploit/bad design in this game that CCP have no other option than to fix it.
So, for all the rhetoric of 'destroying the game' they actually do it good.

Sadly this is true, and goes kinda for the same with news and the likes in general, people tend to want the gore and bad stuff going on rather than the happy news of like babies being born etc.
If this is good or bad for EVE, we don't know yet, it's certainly not all bad, but not sure it's all good either as it does make EVE look a certain way, hopefully we will have a balance for yet some time to keep it going and attracting more and new pilots to our awesome community!
