After looking at a few low sec corps, I opted to start and try some PvP in faction warfare. Only thing is, I am kind of confused on what is next. Should I grab a few frigates, fit them and just go at it with some others that are roaming around? Are there frontlines where I can go to join fleets and run ops? I am still gettig used to Eve after being gone for 9 months due to military related activities, and any information would be great. Just a new PvP'er looking for some fun. Keep your friends close, but keep your enemies closer.... |

Now you get caught in the catch-22 lol.
I joined STPRO hoping to get into some fleet fights but fleets that get advertised in the militia channel are few and far between, most of the action is coordinated among the big corps in private channels. Your best hope is to go out and plex, get into solo fights against pies and roaming wts, get yourself a bit of a killboard and hope to get noticed. Managing this without being labelled a spy is challenging though.

Go lose a lot of ships, enough to make it highly unlikely that you're a spy. Then apply to a nice corp :)

Or be a spy like me and just plot your own way.
Two reasons to be in FW - You like solo PvP - You like missioning for the LP and standings.

Edited by: Mutnin on 26/02/2011 23:05:28 The easiest way to get friends in the Militia, is to go run some plexes as the hard core plexers always love extra help. Will likely keep you away from the blobs as well til you get a feel for whats going on.
As far as the front lines.. this is pretty much the map of cal/gal low sec systems.. http://evemaps.dotlan.net/map/Caldari_VS_Gallente but you can kill or be killed anywhere including high sec.

There are two corps i'd recomend to join for caldari side: Wolfsbrigade and 4horsemen of the apocalypse (spelling?). Anyhow they're based in Enaluri. Wolfsbrigade is larger and has some good FCs but they may turn you down. 4horse are really laid back and they take in new people all the time, or they did at least when I was in the caldari militia. Both corps are based in lowsec so you're more likely to see action if you take the iniative to move out of highsec.

Edited by: Von Kroll on 27/02/2011 04:50:36 Like Super said, first get out of Nourv and move out to low-sec. There are several corps based in low-sec that would love to have more help. Enaluri is home to the 4 Horsemen and Wolfsbrigade, and others are scattered around some of the other low-sec hubs, like Okkamon and Rakapas. If you take the initiative to separate yourself from the mob living in Nourv and hanging out in militia channel, you're more than likely going to be able to find yourself a home.
My corp is small, but active in NA TZ and we're always looking for new members, regardless of SP or experience.
Good luck,
VK

Just start roaming. The plex's are a good place to start. Though it's mostly boring, you can get some pretty decent fights in the plex's from time to time, particularly the minor and medium ones. The blobs can't be bothered to hunt down small groups or individuals in plex's, so you'll avoid that mostly. It's the solo/small gang roamers who you'll be facing instead. Aside from learning pvp quickly (solo/small gang is where most learn fastest), you're likely to run into some of the more hardcore FW players and make a few well connected buddies that way.
Also, be sure to ask in militia chat for the killboard info. All the militia's have a general kb for everyone to use, so be sure to post all your kills and losses there. Most of eve is obsessed with kb stats, so if you're frequently on there you will be noticed. Solo and unusually juicy kills draw extra attention. Getting a reputation as cannon fodder probably isn't the best idea though, so do at least *try* to win.
Thus far you shall read, but no further; for this is my sig. |

Awesome responses for sure. I actually did end up jumping into a fleet last night with Pyre and we got like 40 frigs together and just ****d any reds we saw. It was definitely awesome for sure. I enjoyed it immensly being that it was my first time out there. Now to run some missions for lp and grab some isk, :). |

Get known. X up all the time and make a name for yourself as soneone that wants to be in fleets and is AWAY from the nourv/militia chat crowd.
Good things come with time. A good solid Caldari PvP pilot reputation is no exception. ----------

stpro is really sad tbh... I was labelled a spy because I disagreed with an fc jumping into a suicide situation and ended up leaving because no one would let me in fleets.

You ever stop and think that there might be a connection between these two things? FCs already have a hard enough job as it is, they don't need every wannabe Sun Tzu in the rank-and-file shooting their mouth off every time they think he makes a bad call.

I completely disagree. I've had more fun soloing in FW than anything else. Plus, with all the enemy militia about you have a large pool or targets which won't result in you going GCC.

Had the same problem when I joined a year or so ago...
Progressive State - Recruitment
Or if you want to be in something more well established try COLD-WING (CROW) or 22nd Black Rise Defensive unit. Both very good factional warfare corporations.
Best advice is generally to stay away from Tama. Black Rise and Placid regions are good for solo hunting. Check Fleet finder regularly for FW fleets. Unfortunately it will take time for people to trust you though. But yeah just get stuck in and lose/destroy some ships! Good luck comrade. Feel free to contact me if you ever want to fleet up.

Start talking about exploits, sign posts with your FW "rank" and turn every thread you can find on the forums into a litany of the oppressions someone named "chatgris" has visited upon you.
More seriously, what the others said. Spend enough time in the State Protectorate joining any fleet you can find and dying hilariously, get to know what the player corps are like, and start applying to corps you think fit with your style.

Ok, you're in FW.
Now start paying attention, learn, use Dotlan or similar & learn the region, learn the pipes & study back ways - entrances & exits of the active (frontline systems).
Start working on your FW NPC standings by getting familiar with FW Missions, run them when you can.
Look for quiet times to move ships & other essentials to a lowsec base of operations. Establish Jump Clones at same lowsec hubs.
Get a hisec market alt setup in your case in Jita.
Start making yourself familiar with the major FW Corps on your team, get in any fleets that will have you, make sure your overview is setup correctly & you have a working Mic. Have a range of ships ready to use at a moments notice so you can fill any requirements an FC might have. Short range/long range, nano/ tank, fast tackle/ bait/DPS/Stealth frigs thru to BS. (learn to scout in a stealthy- make dscan your friend, learn fleet jargon by getting in fleets)
Keep comms clear, don't get excited at your first gank & blurt all over comms like a noob. Keep your cool. Be prepared to lose ships, insure T1. Be ready, know your dmg types, learn to fit for a situation, discuss fits, learn, learn , learn.
Get familiar with the FW Kill Boards, these are a wealth of info about what is going down, where & who did what to who. Also it will give you valuable intel on ship fits, what ammo etc. etc. The KB should be visited regularly.
Imo you need EFT or EvE HQ - it's an insanely valuable tool to get the best out of your fits for your character, all pilots are different & there are so many variables, use one of these API fitting tools to learn what's best for you, also helps with training direction.
Missy Lorelai once put it better than I ever could so I'll roughly quote him - "Eve PVP is all about being in the right place at the right time, with the right ship ready to go. Forward thinking Pilots have ships stashed at strategic locations along with jump clones so they can take advantage of a situation at a moments notice." Having ships ready to roll, fitted & loaded, with jump clones at stations is invaluable, even if you don't need to jump clone, you don't want to be messing around fitting a BC while there's a local spike & intel is calling for backup. By the time you get there local will be spamming GF's.
Make your Bookmarks, this is very important, make strategics off all the gates, safes, strats of all stations, quick warp BM's off gates & stations, bookmark, bookmark, bookmark. In lowsec a good set of bookmarks & knowing where they are will save your a$$ & get you many, many kills.
Remember you are playing to have fun, be patient & learn & faction war can be very rewarding. It's a steep learning curve at first but once you get setup & familiar with the players & surrounds it's a blast.
Have Fun out there

Yeah, I joined up again a week or so ago. Seems like fw is now srs business. I mean, ffs, nobody even chats in militia in case someone wants to spy on their 10 man frigate gang. It's like being in a noob corp, just less fun.
TBH red v blue sounds likw a better place to get some pvp now. Never tried it, but it sounds more like there's more pvp and less elitism.
