I have dx8 card and I have the lag in apoc with hardners + armor rep. Not sure if it's the armor rep or the hardner though.

If it's somehow related to drawing of turrets on one's ship, could turning off turret drawing in game options help until the proper fix is made? ^^;;
(i don't really experience it so cannot test myself first hand)

Experiencing the same problem on my armor-tanked Megathron. I have to zoom full out to disable the slideshow if the hardeners and repairers are running.
Btw, on Singularity there was a "shimmer" effect all over the ship from the armor hardeners, now on TQ there's no such effect.

Aye, While I was moaning about it one of my corpmates jumped in with a raven and started streaming torps and they started to hit the lag went from bad to beyond worse. _______________________________________________

Edited by: Seras Martagne on 02/02/2005 23:35:15 I also have had the same problems on my armour tanked Apocalypse since the patch. A standard Armour Hardener+Repairer arrangement causes significant pauses constantly, making the 'poc unsafe to fly unless zoomed out.
I'm glad to hear that this problem is being looked at. /me crosses fingers for a fix soon

Why was this even added? The hardner "shimmer" is next to impossible to see at low levels of zoom.. and totally invisible (at least to me) at medium to long zoom levels.
Seems like a "Good Idea" that should have been left at the idea stage. _________________________________________________

Just had a friend lose his megathron to a undock gank. He turned on his hardners. and said saw some 4 or 5 frames..
Him getting shot
2 others undocking to shoot.

I am having this insane lag problem on my armageddon also, i have 7 turrets and 5 armor hardners fitted, no armor repairers.
My other pc however is not having any problems atall with lag, on this character i have an apoc fitted with 2 hardners, 2 large armor repairers, no turrets or guns.

Yes. I can noticed this as negative peaks in FPS which can be viewable on FPS monitor. There i can see neg. peaks with hardeners and repairers. Without them are seems things ok.
Edit: Seems missiles causing lag too. But not this type of lag.

I fly an apoc and have also experienced terrible client-side lag with the new patch. My armour hardners are always on but I get lag under the followong scenario:
I warp to a gate and start ganking a ship. The sentries start firing on me and I turn on my armour repairs. The screen freezes up completely. It unfreezes after 5 or so seconds then repeats until I am able to warp out. During the fighting (usually 1v1 or 4 people at most) it feels like a large laggy fleet battle.
So for me it could be the armour hardners, the armour repairers, or the sentries causing the lag, or a combination of all three.
I also had the sound disabled as that can slow things down during battle.

Not only armor hardeners are causing lag.
I noticed in my Maller with 5 lasers that every time the lasers fire I get a half second where the client is not reacting.
Could it be that it is the audio code causing the lag?
My system: P4-3.06GHz HT-enabled, 1G ram, ATI9800Pro, SB Audigy 2, WindowsXP

It _was_ getting old then, and, slowly but surely, it's getting old now...
We all know that the Sort Code is crap in the current form, , but that is probably not a thing you can get out of the system fast... and it's definitely not worth an emergency patch...

Not sure if anyone else has noticed this.. or if it's even important...
I get the same image freeze from armour hardeners and repairers...
But I also noticed something else which is slowing my game down..
In the graphics options, I can now no longer change the shading option.
Or rather, I can change it, but the next time I open options it's reset..
I run 2 clients on my machine, and this increases the lag (shading options are now continually set at 24+8 bit and z buffer set to 32+i forget cos i'mat work and can't have eve here :()..
Anyone got any idea why this is? I now have to run both clients set at full shading and am sure this is not helping the fps, combined with the armour problems (will of course check it out with the hopeful hotfix when i get home in four hours) are meaning i can only run one client and that gets lag...
Machines are..
Eve-system (for watching tv and mining): xp 1800+ 1GB PC2100 Radeon 9600
Good-system (for when there is dross on tv): xp 3000+ 1.25GB PC2700 Radeon 9800 pro

Hmmm, I was able to have 2 Large Armor Repairers, 3 Armor Hardeners on and tank a 2 Angel Battleship, 4 Angel Cruiser spawn with no noticeable lag. During the battle, I zoomed in and out to test if there was any difference, missiles were flying around the place. Even cycled different configurations of Armor Reps and Hardeners to see if I could cause lag. Unable to. I wonder what the difference is. ------------------- |

He probably logged on immediately after the reboot, but before the fix had been enabled. It had to be specifically turned on.

i think that it is due to the new effect that was added as i noticed that when you zoom out to a distance (where you can not really see the ship as more than a small dot) that the lag spikes were not noticeable, this came to mind when speaking to a friend who was on the main server while i was testing

I never really made any connection with hardners but I suppose it could explain alotta the grp activety lag.
Overall the clients performance solo has improved but any type of grp activety it truely suckeths compared to pre exodus.
But well guess I'll go check if it has made any difference.

For me, the fix has indeed done the trick. Turning on multiple armour hardeners and repairers no longer causes pauses. Thank you!

One thing I noticed that may be related, or not (might be related to all the server disconnects that happened last night). I was in combat, and noticed a particularly fine shot that I wanted to view, so I opened the Log so I could look for that shot. I instantly locked up, and eventually the system crashed. Apparently it crashed for everyone else too, tho, so I am not sure if it was just coincidence or if they are related. I had all my hardeners and repairers on at the time, and was engaged in combat with NPCs ------------------- |

tbh the lagg on me apoc is reduced.....
but it hasnt gone
i still get a slowly building amount of lagg, which after about 15 minutes makes game play impossible, so i'll not be using my apoc, but my other accoount doesnt get lagg.
And no i'm not gonna play zoomed right out.. i need to see my ship to play the way i want to

There is a lag problem outwith armour hardeners. Both me and a freind lost our ships in the same npc rat fight last night because of lag. I started fighting 1st and I had no hardeners or repairers of any type fitted. The moment I fired my guns (blasters or rockets) I start getting 1 frame every 15 secs or so. I knew I was in trouble so called a freind in to help me and the moment he fired the same thing happened. I got blown up and the lag was gone and I got to watch him get blown up too.
The rats were ones I could handle on my own no problem usually.
Was hoping my petition would be succesfull but by the sounds of it it won't.
Very poor show and has put a real downer on the game for me as I am quite new to Eve and what I lost was a lot of work for me.
