I appreciate your sentiment that it's a slippery slope, but they haven't done any REAL micro-transaction stuff yet. Technically that PLEX gets you an HD feed to Fanfest, and they just throw in the shirt. Once they start selling in game stuff as stand-alone items for plex, rather than isk, then I'll worry. You know, if you think about it you can buy anything with PLEX as it is now. So every item can be considered eligible for micro-transaction. You don't have a problem with that system do you? Because if you want that shirt, it 350 million isk. You just have to buy a PLEX for it. I honestly doubt they're going to sell one in-game t-shirt for 15$. Actually, considering the player base for Eve, I have to wonder if they could even get away with selling cosmetic stuff for any money. I honestly wouldn't think that that many Eve players would be willing to pay for that sort of thing...

I've just been kind of afraid of a homogenization of the races. I was hoping for a chance to get my old racial hair style I used to have. But I guess that's going to be a long shot.

PLEX existing is just CCP trying to make an evil in MMOs work slightly in their favor. They get to pat themselves on the back for being "innovative and cutting edge" while taking their slice of RMT. On Incarna, it could have been player controlled, with certain players making and fashioning vanity items out of new resources. Players could open storefronts, build items, compete over resources blah blah blah. You know, something that fits into the player driven market and economy that CCP loves to point out. Yes, if you wanted to, you could buy PLEX to fund buying clothes, just like anything in EVE. But no. Insert PLEX somewhere into CCP and get your clothes. The end. It won't stay with just vanity items, it is a slippery slope. PLEX for remap will come back and I am afraid to think of what else will come riding in its coattails.
