CCP,
No CQ's yet on Sisi - although the download info seemed to hint otherwise - But nice work on the tattoos.... Very nice.
The piercings are a big improvement on last time too, although a couple of models floated in the air (for me).
The scars and face burns, are excellent. I can see them bringing a lot of variation to portraits (The magnifying glass on portraits in-game is also a nice touch, as is being able to change our appearance as much as we like in station...) - The new Reset facial expression is 'Win' (for me, anyway...)
I'm looking forward to grabbing some Fraps stuff tomorrow, when I'm less tired.... :))

None and wont do in the future. Just a FYI, you can change the portrait an unlimited number of times on the latest SiSi build.
Oh and speaking of tattoos and scars, they are pretty nice:

I dunno what it is about the scars on there, but they're so... unnoticeable. I didn't even see them until I took a second look.
I wish they would make the scars a bit more defined, and maybe have some discoloration for the burn scar.

Hey Manifest, as i've seen the captains quarters files, shaders, paths and stuff have been already included in the latest download :-) So when will you hit the switch and allow us to get some preview? =)
If you say "right before fanfest" i'll be dissapointed.

Damn... hopefully there are more subtle options than tattoos that cover the whole face for minmatar, those are a bit too much with the new realistic looking characters.

Maybe, but people aren't going to pay for all these nifty items if they have to turn around and pay again to have them show on the portrait. Free portrait retakes are part of the pay-for-stuffz business model.

As long as it's limited to gimmicky stuff, or bundled with services I don't mind. I appreciate your sentiment that it's a slippery slope, but they haven't done any REAL micro-transaction stuff yet. Technically that PLEX gets you an HD feed to Fanfest, and they just throw in the shirt. Once they start selling in game stuff as stand-alone items for plex, rather than isk, then I'll worry.
You know, if you think about it you can buy anything with PLEX as it is now. So every item can be considered eligible for micro-transaction. You don't have a problem with that system do you? Because if you want that shirt, it 350 million isk. You just have to buy a PLEX for it. I just hope CCP keeps this system, rather than selling in-game items for real currency only. ==================== ~/~ Sultan of Buruni |

I'm just going to throw out there (not that it justifies anything in terms of plex for incarna features) the fact that plex is 15$. I honestly doubt they're going to sell one in-game t-shirt for 15$.
Actually, considering the player base for Eve, I have to wonder if they could even get away with selling cosmetic stuff for any money. I honestly wouldn't think that that many Eve players would be willing to pay for that sort of thing...

I had a chance to take a look at the Amarr and the tattoos are done well, at least they are different than the Minmatar ones. I've just been kind of afraid of a homogenization of the races. I was hoping for a chance to get my old racial hair style I used to have. But I guess that's going to be a long shot.

CCP has introduced "Character Customization" as a station service. This is not to be confused with the Character Creator and Character Re-Customization that we have had up until now on TQ.
So the Character Creator is only available for new characters and those not upgraded to the new HD avatars yet. It is a one time use deal and it will let you do everything except change race and gender.
The Character Re-Customization was just to let us redo the avatars from scratch due to limited instructions on how to use the Character Creator (and I don't think we will see this return again).
Now for the new feature the new Character Customization, it is unlimited to use, it will not let you re-sculpture your character (chaging face shape, adding removing fat/muscles, freckles, aging, face scarring nor skin tone). So what can you do with it, well, you can change all the other character attributes (eyes, hair, facial hair, eyebrows, makeup, clothes, piercings, scars and tattoos) and change the pose for updating the in-game portrait.

Also, will we be able to edit height with the initial Incarna release?

Technically that PLEX gets you an HD feed to Fanfest, and they just throw in the shirt. Once they start selling in game stuff as stand-alone items for plex, rather than isk, then I'll worry.
You know, if you think about it you can buy anything with PLEX as it is now. So every item can be considered eligible for micro-transaction. You don't have a problem with that system do you? Because if you want that shirt, it 350 million isk. You just have to buy a PLEX for it. I just hope CCP keeps this system, rather than selling in-game items for real currency only.
PLEX existing is just CCP trying to make an evil in MMOs work slightly in their favor. They get to pat themselves on the back for being "innovative and cutting edge" while taking their slice of RMT.
On Incarna, it could have been player controlled, with certain players making and fashioning vanity items out of new resources. Players could open storefronts, build items, compete over resources blah blah blah. You know, something that fits into the player driven market and economy that CCP loves to point out. Yes, if you wanted to, you could buy PLEX to fund buying clothes, just like anything in EVE. But no. Insert PLEX somewhere into CCP and get your clothes. The end.
It won't stay with just vanity items, it is a slippery slope. PLEX for remap will come back and I am afraid to think of what else will come riding in its coattails.

Its going to be packed with micro transactions from this point on.
How many threads are you going to whine in about microtransactions? You don't like them? DON'T USE THEM! Fairly simple really isn't it?
There isn't someone pointing a gun to your head forcing you to purchase anything in EVE, come to think of it, if you are SO outraged by all this, feel free to just stop playing EVE altogether.
You sound like the guys saying "You think gasoline is too expensive? Well, don't buy it! No one is pointing a gun to your head forcing you to have a car. You are free to walk whenever you like."
The problem is that at some point there might be a de-facto need to use microtransactions to play "properly" or "competitively". The HD feed for the last Alliance Tournament was free. Let's see if the next one will be free as well...
Comparing items in a game (that are probably just going to be novelty items) to gasoline is as stupid as it is pointless.

Not quite, but thanks. Not sure if I should be flattered though.
CCP has said it themselves, they do not wish to get off the "cutting edge" of MMO technology by ignoring MTs. The former CSM greenlit it for them, and its not like their input would have changed a damned thing. Its been road mapped, and nothing is getting in the way of more money. ...Then when you stopped to think about it. All you really said was Lalala. |

If I told you I just happened to be browsing the forums you wouldnt believe me... That however is not one of my alts, I only have two characters left and that isn't one of them.
You have misunderstood somewhat my feelings when I left and if you read my exit thread you will see quite clearly that my views on CCP in general were quite positive apart from their little plan to destroy the community.
Anyway you should vote me for CSM otherwise ccp is going to charge a supercap and jumpbridge plex upkeep aswell as charging plex to enter lucrative level 4s in hisec.

My decision to matry T'amber was actually well thought and considered, if maybe a little misdirected in hindsight judging from peoples comments.
Good luck to Selene though he definately will be an asset to the community on the CSM.

I mean seriously you only have so few hair and clothes options still, but they added a lot of scars and piercings and such to every race (some still not done though). It's like we're all brutor street thugs not spaceship captains .
Yeah, I feel the same way. Why does most every race get Brutor sunglasses? I actually miss the old characters because they were unique to their own race/faction.

Comparing items that can be bought with RL money with items that can be bought with RL money is never stupid.
Maybe you will like to change your opinion when then first non-vanity item is officially available for sale. (Not that there is anything in game you cannot buy with sufficient RL money already).

I was actually really pleased with the final result, and I'm looking forward to seeing where you take this tool next..

Exactly this. Thank you for the detailed explanation, Mashie!
Why can't we change those things? Is there a technical reason to this?
It's not like weight, skin tone, scarring, aging, or even freckles are really unchanging with people in time, so I honestly can't think of a good reason to keep these things out of the customization in-station.

People will still be able to recognize you with small cosmetic changes. If you were to change everything about yourself, like facial structure, then you could make yourself unrecognizable. Your profile pic is half your identity, and most people don't want you to change your identity. They just want to be able to change their own.

Yes they did...
I'm really liking the new additions, and especially the ability to change your look at will from in station.
The only thing I'm hoping will be fixed when this hits Tranquility is that the portrait capture section remembers your original pose exactly... I'm not so bothered about this char but I really don't want to lose the pose and expression on one of my alts. No matter how hard I try I can't manage to duplicate it exactly and I REALLY like how it is now, so I may have to forego body modding on that char.
