Edited by: Vicker Lahn'se on 04/02/2005 14:28:25 Anybody notice that the new tech1 Amarrian industrial, the Sigil, has a speed of 255m/s? Do you realize that the fastest industrial up until this point had a max of 125m/s? This new ship is twice as fast as any other tech1 industrial.
The fastest tech2 blockade runner has 185m/s. This tech1 ship outclasses all tech2 blockade runners in speed. The Sigil only requires Amarr Industrial 1. Half an hour of training will get you a faster ship than spending a month getting a blockade runner! Why do they get such an ³ber ship??
EDIT: I would consider this ship to be perfectly balanced if it had half the cargo capacity that it currently has. I don't have a problem with a speedy indy, as long as there is a tradeoff for having it. I agree with the people who are petitioning to keep the speed what it is now.

Your reasoning breaks down when you conclude the sigil is uber rather than the blockade-runner ships not up to par, but in any case, the +3 warp strength is far more significant. Consider also the masses. In any case, no-one's going to use any race but the gallente transport ships, surely.

Edited by: Jim Steele on 03/02/2005 18:05:20 i think the amarr T2 version will have more cargospace then the galante t2 or the IV, the only problem is its sloooooww..
The blocade runners need a bit of a speed boost imho, the deep space transports need one too as at 80m/s they are too slow admitidly with all those resists im sure they can take a beeting.
Good think about having galante 5 is that you can use an iteon v which is, well cheep as chips. The T2 ships as with most T2 will be a complete rip off, still researchers need to make money from there bpo's they get for free eh?? (im just bitter and twisted because my agent hasnt dropped one yet)

No, actualy I usualy only train my race's ships (Matari). The only Gallente ship I have ever flown was the shuttle.
Also, I'm a bit upset to find out that it was a typo, considering I just bought one. Is the typo in the ship's coding or just in the description? Does this ship really fly that fast for the moment? If so, will it remain unfixed until the industrial torny that I was gunna fly it in? =)

Damn the one thing ccp did right with the sigil and its a typo, it did sound to good to be true a fast low cargo capacity blockade running ship.
i guess with amarr industrial and nav 5 it would go 398m/s which is faster then a frigate, i think there should be a compromise speed mabye 190, then it would go 273m/s with nav 4 and Amarr Indy 4.
Remember it does have low capacity and it isnt meant to be a super hauler like the iteron.

Its Amarr. And if you want to use the Chronicles to prove stuff, chew on this. According to the background stories Gallente were the masters of EW.

Its also said that Gallente are masters of EW
So when there is an indisputable racial advantage, like the Iteron V had, and it perceptibly dissappears, people are going to point it out.
That being said, Iteron V kept all its old stats. It remains king of the Tech I (read, cheap and easy to replace, instead of 20-50 million) haulers.
Additionally, all Iteron V pilots now have the pole position for getting into an elite indy, even if its not the best elite indy by their standards.
Those who trained Amarr to level 4 (and there are a few of us) actually have a reason to continue what was before a dead end path instead of resorting to finally breaking down and training up Gallente Industrial V. Its all about tradeoffs in the long run vs. short.
We've yet to have the bpo's drop, much less anyone start building any of the tech II industrials, so at the present, even 'best elite indy' is moot.

This is amazing stupidity, once you actually get NEW FRIKING OPTION, it turns to be an typo.
Dear CCP, no offence, but why are wasting your time to add junk in the game, you multiply ships with practicaly same stats and you make most of them unusable. No1 uses wreathe, no1 needs another iteron mk1.
What did you add such double mass 3k cargo useless ship with a speed of 155? What for?
The low cargo, double speed was such a great move, i thought "whee! you can actually have DIFFERENT type of hauler", ah, damn it.
Makes me wounder.

As to the Sigil, yeah, I woulda preferred the weird stats it had, but with 5 lowslots, and level 1 to use, that does seem unbalanced compared to the other races.
At least the mass is getting halved along with the decrease of base speed.

Aww and i liked it as a little speed demon, but if its only going to be marginally faster than a bestower its just going to end up collecting dust due to the cargo capacity it has.
The tech 2 ships will go faster considering they can mount a mwd without adding fittings to make it fit right on the ship. If the sigil is to get slower, then other tweaking needs to be done to compensate, because the tech 2 version doesnt make sense when compared against the other tech 2 ship the impel. On the one hand the faster ship has +2 warp core strenght and is slightly faster, but gives up some resists, cargo space, power grid, and low slots. On the other hand you could fit the slower ship with 2 wcs, 2 nano fiber, meduim armor repair, mwd, a armor hardener, and a cap relay; which would create essentially the same ship but performs better than the Prorator, with +2 warp core built in, in every way but the ability to deal damage to an opponent. I believe the ability to deal damage to an opponent in an industrial ship is fairly futile against any player using any normal combat orientated vessle.

Changing the requirements a little to make it more balanced doesnt matter much in the long term, because the real time sink would only occur at level 4 and 5. Even then, the player is still gaining benefit from the enhanced skill level and the skill level is required for the tech 2 variants. Ignoring the industry 5 requirement, this instance essentially gives the gallente 3 tech 2 quality ships, that perform a little differently from each other. This is not a bad thing, but this kind of variety should exists more throughout the game, instead of the all too common, "well my ship can do x and y, hmm maybe i can squeeze a little z into it that this other ship can do as well".

sigil will still be the fastest indy. It'll have reasonable cargo for that speed and a godly amount of lows.
It will still be a decent indy, just a bit more balanced compared to Iteron and Badger... the other indies which only require lvl1 indy. |

Well, I bought one, thinking it was a cheap tech2 ship After 1 minute, saw it was tech 1.
Fitted it and see what it could do, but with my skills it also gave a speed of 350 m/s. Is this to be 'corrected'? Because its spec indeed make it an ideal blockade runner indeed.
Besides, I realy like the look of it, reminds me of the Kadesh Fuel Pod in the Homeworld game (and looks like a snail). ----------------------

oh no
Keep it at 255m/s please. I just brought the bpo because of the speed.
Maybe reduce the cargo to 2500m¦ or even 2000m¦ but don't slow the ship down. Or reduce the armor/structure value to about 400 each.

Yes, i agree. But i don't see it happening. As Hammer pointed out, the ship would be little more then eyecandy. But then again, maybe that is the problem...The fact that only a VERY limited number of ships posses a role.

Actually, the amarr version of the Navitas exists; the Tormentor is about equavalent. It's the Amarr version of the Heron/Probe/Imicus that's missing. And as a matter of fact, I know that a model for an amarrian Devoter class frigate exists which could/should be used I haven't got a screen, but maybe this piece of Concept Art might refresh someone's memory. Screenies ftw!
EDIT: /me takes spelling classes.

Btw, are you going to boost the skill req for the Bessie to say Amarr Indy 3 then?
There was talk of that but it was decide that not much would be gained by nerfing the bestower skill reqs. It would make more sense but everyone hates nerfs. The industrials are weird; imagine the screams on the forums if one race had 1 battleship, one race had 2 battleships, one race had 3 battleships and one race had 5 battleships.
Out of pure interest, now you're adding new ships. Are you planning to add a sixth Amarr Frigate aswell?
The sigil got added because of the elite version. I'd personally rather see the artists working on new classes of ships that people would actually want to fly as opposed to the amarrian version of the navitas.
Certainly. Tt's just bugging me as Amarr are now out of ships to use for BlackOp Frigates.
Ooh Elite navitas sometime ? I have very fond memorys of that ship from beta, both from when it was the intaki's newbieship (and one of the best, imho) and when it was upped to a full frigate class after the ugly velator got made all-gallente newbie ship, but before the later changes made such a rigid tier/power structure. (ie it was a good solid all round ship, as ships went at the time)
Gorgeous little ship imho, shame its just not all that usefull in the long run these days. . ----- Apologys for any rambling that may have just occurred.

Hey, cool, didn't know Evegate had these screens Found one of the Belladrine as well!
Edit: And an unused cruiser model, Crusader. Kinda like that one. They'd have to change the name though
Peace through love, understanding and superior firepower. Real men structure tank! |

I wonder how many quotes can fit inside a quote...

What was the use of adding the Sigil then if it really was a typo? I mean... right now cruisers are definitly the most useless class used just because alot of cruisers were added without filling a purpose.
Who is using any other cruiser than blackbird, thorax, maller, rupture, caracal, osprey and moa?
It really seems like indys does the same... iteron mk1-mk3 are totally useless and so is that weird minnie one and badger mk1.
Get more ships into the game that really can be used for something. // emsigma |
