Lotus SangDoCaste	Posted - 2011.03.22 16:33:00 - [1] Due to the wild influx of people moaning and crying about afk cloakers, I moved an alt into a known ratting system (9k-15k rats killed per day) and cloaked him up in a safe spot. He's there right now. BOO YAH! All of you OCD "OMG AFK CLOAKERS ARE KILLING EVE" people must be going nuts right now. Please post you comments.

I was in Period Basis on a ratting tour in a Thorax. Some guys entered system so I cloaked. Then I had some other stuff to do and eventually went to sleep and the Eve client remained quietly minimized for the next 23 hours. Postscript: I was then podded at the gate the next day when I tried to leave the region with my phat loots.

Diomedes Calypso	Posted - 2011.03.22 17:46:00 - [19] I'm definitely thinking about the same (as stated in other threads) I'm not for "delayed" (as in never get seen by default) local, but I've come to believe in AFK cloaking .... just changes the rules of the game into needing to be fleeted or have escorts to engage in pve ....(well only really if war decc'd in high sec .. but thats another issue) If nothing else, I'm thinking about doing more AFK cloaking to head off the movement to nerf local that gives us a feel of who activity and inhabitants etc I've suggested often that a good solution to botting and the abilty to warp off at the sight of danger would be to have Doppleganger player ships roaming around which would look like real ships in local and on scan until you got on grid with them (with clues perhaps on their char sheet that a human would see as a tip off that they're not real. But short of that, afk cloakers in most systems.. would help. As for ships... I'd suggest a stealth bomber (max torpedo damage fit, not with a bomb launcher) The present a credible threat to a lot of ships, have the possiblity of a covert cyno, and alts can be trained to use them at a close to 80% of perfect level in their core affecting skills in a couple months.

One that appears normal in visual range, but outside of that it emits ship data. A cloaker could go in to a system, make a few ss, then start dropping these cans so the people trying to scan them down have to scan out each ship signature. Perhaps even make it so that upon dropping, you can change the settings for ship class and/or set it as a specific ship.
