I'll admit you've confused me a bit. The OP said that suggestions given were taken, but only those dealing with core functioanlity at first (which is understandable). Apparently there was quite a bit that needed to be worked on, as evidenced by the fact that even once they thought they had their act together on it things STILL messed up to the point where they felt it wise to pull it back down.
To me, that shows they were putting the emphasis in the right place.
Yes, having the forum go live and then experiencing a bug serious enough to revert back to the original for a bit is embarrasing, but hardly unprecedented in the software industry.
All respect to Tippia and the OP, but there is a fine line between voicing a strong and well informed opinion about a piece of software you enjoy... and becoming offended/insulted/dissapointed to the point where you stop using it if your suggestions are not implemented soon enough to please you.
Just sayin'...

I have much to thank the man who sits infront of the screen containing Estel's account.
His ability to enclose a quite thread with a legitimate gripe and keeping it level and in the GD section and not getting it moved to to OOPE, is a testament to his abilities

Well, we know what an alliance failcascading looks like.
I think this is what an MMO beginning to failcascade looks like.
I dissed CCP for failing to maintain and improve the core game when that wasn't cool. Glad y'all have caught up.
There's a time to HTFU and there's a time to reevaluate and change course. I hope CCP recognizes that the latter is in order, if they want to save their cash cow and their corporate existence.

MAYDAY! MAYDAY!
New forums have some bugs and couple serious security flaws, BUT that is not the emergency!!! After numerous rounds of testing and suggestions from seriously dedicated forum bobbleheads, WE ARE STILL UNABLE TO KILL SHIPS IN EVE using missing forum weapons and the devs still refuse to give us their home phone numbers!!!
Good luck wherever you go , post back if you find a game thats better with all free expansions, easily playable with in game money, and haslots of spaces ships going BOOM!

I saw that someone else was leaving the game ... and then I saw that the OP was Estel ...
My first thought was "OH ****!"
Not a good day in the EVE community ...
I completely understand however.
I put a lot of myself into Planetside, did things on their Test Server and tried to support people in their forums ... but the day came ... when I had had it and I left.
You've only got so much of yourself you can put into something ... and when it's gone ... it's gone.
I still play PS now and then when the EVE servers are down or going through an upgrade while I wait for it to be sorted ... but I don't participate in the community any more ... I just don't have it in me - and I sure as hell don't play three accounts any more.
Maybe Estel can come play EVE with an Alt now and then - not worry about the game - just let it be whatever it is and enjoy it for that ... which is what I do with PS.
In any case - I really appreciate all you did for us Estel. I learned from you and always valued your opinion.

All their forum problems would be solved by contracting out to a third-party forum and giving people a different password for it than the game password, for chrissakes.
It would take me a bit to code something from a blank text document, sure, but setting up what I just described? 48 hours, tops. It wouldn't be linked to in-game data like the new forums, but that would be less because of the effort involved and more because that is a ****ing terrible idea.

I'm sorry that I hadn't the inclination to feed the trolls in this thread. For all non-trolls, I do appreciate all the kind words.
Since this thread has been necro'd, I'll give a quick update: I haven't played in the past couple of months (though I have kept my skills training) and my feelings haven't changed. Some of you may have noticed that I have been active on the forums recently, but that has been only to sell off my assets; once these 16 BPOs sell, everything has been sold. All that's left then is my character, an Apotheosis, and a pile of ISK. I'll figure out later what to do with that (if anything).

Sad to see you go, another loss to the old time community. Your points are understandable, but as many have pointed out, CCP has slowly moved in a direction of their own choosing, a direction taken by small companies that suddenly get too big.
I just hope they never lose the last shreds of their soul, a group of small people that had a dream of an awesome space ships simulator.
The latest changes show a current trend in most mmo's these days to cater to the masses, what I dont understand tho, Is why they try to cater to masses that will barely play their convoluted and complex game for more than 2 or 3 months, UNLESS they are planning to survive on a constant influx of new people every 3 to 6 months as a viable economic strategy that is more profitable for them in the long run ; which will obviously go in detriment of the hard core and loyal subbers of long. This seems to be the case and I sometimes hope I'm mistaken.
My only advice is this, if despite all the flaws you find the GAME itself is still entertaining in one way or another, don't quit. I have jumped from so many many MMO's in the fantasy genre that I came to the conclusion that the other side of the fence is not really greener, it's usually worst, filled with trash, junk, annoying neighbors, houses that more or less look like the one I just left and in retrospective I'm still in the same neighborhood. If I had known about that back in 2002 I would have never left EQ1, but I know now, sadly, that if I leave EVE nothing out there will replace it. I plan to stick to CCP for a long while, even with all their incredible record of mistakes and lack of foresight <which I honestly blame to the US side of the company, I hope I'm right> so I will remain here in this strange boat that is not fail, but is not win either.
Give it a rest, chill out, surf around, try other things, and then come back. Many many changes ahead in the horizon for EVE, been here since 2005 and I have seen quite some drastic changes that if I were a diff person I would have unsubbed a long time ago. But you see, change, for better or worst is constant. EVE is not immune to that.
If what I read about their inner company policies and workings is true, they really really lack proper communication and flow of ideas. katrina posted this on OOPE about CCP , so I imagine that as some people strive to make as many changes to support some of the best ideas the community can give them, they get lost in translation and in the chaos of internal bureaucracies inside the faceless behemoth CCP has become of late.
Me? I will give them a chance at redemption , again. They usually try , sometimes fail, but at least don't sink the ship <too much>.
