In other news, CCP's response to this thread seems to confirm the fact that they do not have any plan in place which is really, really a disappointment.

I seriously yelped with happiness when they finally upgraded the jukebox (custom playlist) so I could remove the tracks that made me angry (literally) every time they came on

When I have Fraps running, I have the sounds on.
When I'm in fleet, I have the sounds off so I can hear voice/vent/TS3 better
When I'm messing about solo and not recording the results for posterity, I have a nice selection of death metal tunage on in the background.

Sound on... BUT... very low master volume for the game, don't even always bother putting the headphones on when just idling in station.
The music can be soothing. The SFX, not so much.
I do use the "autopilot disabled, waypoint reached" audio cue to know when to switch focus back to EVE though (ye olde "set next gate as waypoint, enable autopilot, do something else after" trick).
P.S. Disabling EVE-Voice however is the VERY FIRST THING I do though. That actually helps a lot, even if it shouldn't.

umm, duh. an on-motherboard soundcard is eating CPU cycles. an actual sound card frees you from that if its any good.

Seems to me what you're listening to is a good indication of why you play eve. I dare hope most roleplayers stick with the standard jukebox.
If not, could somebody please inform me -what- is so wrong with the default playlist? Or is it simply that metal(and other general noise) became the new easy listening when I wasn't looking? |

I used to play the jukebox, until I realized it was adding about 30 seconds to my login time. ( I had about 500 songs) . Now I just use iTunes in the background or mixcloud.com.
I do turn up eve sounds so the missiles and lasers can be heard on several floors of my house. Fricken loud

I use Eve voice fairly often, so I assume that's a yes.
Sometimes got the jukebox on in the background (Original soundtrack + Alienhand's music) on a very low volume.
World + UI is down to 0, though; there's no sound in space, and I like to keep it that way.

Why would you not want to here the resounding boom of a full rack of 1400's? I turn the bass up enough so my desk shakes whenever I volley. :D

Depends. If I'm doing work at the same time (afk missioning FTW) I tend to keep it muted.
But If I am actually playing the game I put the sound on. Mostly for the music. I like th EVE music.

I Love the Login Music, but after I login I have to turn off Jukebox otherwise I'll get so sleepy I'll log off. I try to have sound effects on but when I mission Amarr Lasers get annoying so I have to turn them off too.
To answer your question I "Try" to have them on but sometimes I can't take it lol.

Eve is not a fast paced game..that said,the last thing I want is music that puts me to sleep lol.

Though i do ocasionaly turn it on for the music when i feel like it. When playing eve, missioning, ratting i usualy listen to audio books. It is a good way to break the boredoom. Just finished with Harry Potter series, and moving on The dark Tower by Stephen King. :)

No offense but you really need to look up what the words 'confirm' and 'fact' really mean. All I saw was them locking the thread as a duplicate, not confirming what you call a fact. I agree that sound can be buggy at times, but firing yourself up into a sarcastic froth is kind of weird.

Why is this a discussion? They fixed the turret sounds and everything back in Tyrannis, It's been working absoloutly perfectly since then. I even made a thread about it, though I'll be damned if I can find it.
There's nothing wrong with the Eve sound. This joke is old and tired, and it's also no longer true.
