Slight misunderstanding, we arnt selling ACCESS to an existing database, ANYONE can have that for free
We are selling the Database itself for integration with an ingame website, much as Bob's killboard includes some (but not, by a long way, all) of the item images and descriptions.
This is not for individuals to buy but for corps or alliances. And Yes, you can get it yourself but its a ridiculiusly large amount of work.

Well, hey, I say good job for trying to explore the potential of incorporating a novel business with the IGB. Others have tried since beta but with limited success. The IGB can access all sorts of things, mostly I hope CCP can eventually find a secure way to incorporate it with regular billing.
Creativity should be rewarded. This effort was more on the side of speculation, but perhaps whoever is behind it will try to do some other interesting things with it.
Hopefully, CCP may consider exporting more non-sensitive information, like mineral prices, to xml. Or perhaps also census data from the secure commerce commission on ship losses and population statistics. The IGB has enormous potential for those who know how to utilize it.
From the beginning, EVE has lauded those who try to find a way to make a buck in an original fashion. I hope EVE doesn't lose that.

Amusing read. What I'd like to know if Shinra, I refer to them as one as they collectively share the intelligence of one intelligent being, have foreseen this or considered this a possibility. CCP can easily change, update the current values, or delete items from the database.
Are free updates to the database that you pay for included, or is it something you would need to pay for each updata to the database?

Im not being funny or trolling or what ever.. but..
Ive messed with a few games in my time, inlcuding alot of scripting and modding for X2 the threat.. and it is my experience that yes you may find 'unused items' not aactualy in a game within the code/resource files. But, those unused items are NEVER implimented without being modified first.
The 'extra' items IMHO are extremely unlikely to enter the game as they are.. That is just my opinion based on what I have seen before, nothing more, and yes I may be wrong.
