You can take a drake or a cane if you got the right fit. Maybe its easier to fit a cane or a drake than other ships, but heck.

In that case, why not nerf the Rorqual for being able to take down a Megathron or even a Curse for that matter? Why not nerf the cheap T1-fitted dessies for being able to gank (in large numbers) miners during Hulkageddon?

You think they're bad right now? Try looking back to when they were first introduced.
The Myrmidon had 125 m/bit drone bandwidth.
The Hurricane had 7 turret slots.
The Harbinger had 8 turret slots.
The Drake had even more passive shield regen that it does now (I think it's currently HALF of what it used to be).

This is very true 6 month players can kill 7 year old players - crazy but true...its not about skillpoints it really is about what ship you got and what you are up against.

I suspect what happened here is you had an poor blackbird pilot and a harbinger that wasn't tanked fitted. You guys thought you could gank it but were surprised when its large buffer/passive tank lasted long enough for it to kill either the zealot or the harbinger. With one of two DPS ships down you didn't have the DPS to kill its tank and the remaining DPS ship didn't have that much of a tank either. So it simply took the rest of you down one by one.

OP presented his argument very poorly, but his basic point is on the money -- the Drake is overpowered, and has been for some time. It has absurd range and tank and is still quite fast because its tank does not slow it down, and it has enough damage that it will kill other BC's before they can come close to chewing through its massive tank.
There will obviously be tons of people frothing at the mouth about how the Drake is balanced, but its the most flown combat ship for a reason.
Also, inb4 'Moved to Ships & Modules.'

Drake vs Harbinger dead harby
Drake vs Hurricane dead cane
Drake vs Myrmidon dead myrm
Drake vs Curse dead curse
Drake Vs Zealot dead zealot
Drake vs Vagabond dead vaga
Drake vs Demios dead demios
Drake vs Blackbird (for lols) dead blackbird
Only thing that can take a Drake 1 vs 1 is a battlship....

Draw, as in the pathetic DPS of the Drake can't break the decent tank of the others, and the nice DPS of the others can't break the amazing tank of the Drake.
Accept the Blackbird. It likely wouldn't win if the Drake was for some odd reason fitted with FOF.

i find this topic quite an irony to be honest. In many alliance tournements. how many times have you not heard that the panel eventually would say "Drake sucks"... seriously... think about it about that one and place that in your brain ;)
(cause it has often been said don't bring a drake setup to a alliance tourney ;))

They were new a while ago. If anything, the old BCs should be made more like the new; the Ferox looks too cool to be so apparently bad.
Did a hurricane kill your Cerberus or something?
Because the Cerberus is unable to fit anything remotely resembling a tank if you want any DPS coming out of it.

One can't nerf the Drake.
It's the easy-mode "I AM INVINCIBLE!!!!11" testosterone-producing ship for noobs.
Even if CCP nerfed it,
they'd need a replacement then.
It has hell of a tank, which is easy to handle.
It can use only missiles, which are pretty easy to handle.
It impresses even noobier noobs, "wow you can tank THAT???? O_O".

It's the "GODMODE"-ship for those who need to be breastfed (ingame).
They'll learn it better, but the feeling usually comes back ...
