I cry for real people, who really died, or really lost everyone they knew. Really watched helplessly as their wives and children, their mothers and fathers were torn out of their hands and drowned before their eyes. I am not ashamed of my tears, I show them publicly, because they prove I'm a human being. What do you cry for?

Then you need to cry 100x harder right now for that multiple of people who died in the epic Indonesian tsunami a few years back.
What what sort of sick ass guilt are you trying to strum? Should everyone on this planet spend every second of their lives crying?

I'm trying to strum guilt within people who can shrug off human life as if its nothing. All death is a loss, and none of it is irrelevant. Who wouldn't empathize with the victims of the Indonesian tsunami? Many of them probably still haven't rebuilt their lives. Even now, they deserve your sympathy.
I'm not trying to strum guilt for donations, I'm strumming guilt for inhumanism. What I don't get is why people see it as such a big deal to run a PLEX drive. Its a volunteer donation. All us aussies were ever asking for was a fair go, like we always do. All we ever wanted was the opportunity.
We weren't asking CCP to donate corporate money, or force players to donate. We were just asking for the donation gates to be open, so people could donate if they wanted to.
But apparently, that was too much to ask. That PLEX drive might have generated not a single drop of money. While I and my fellow countrymen might have been a bit cut up over that, at least CCP would have given us a fair go. But apparently, we don't deserve that.
I'm strumming the guilt that you in particular, Eternal Noob, apparently harbor. I hope I strum it in others as well. The guilt over that uncomfortable feeling you have in the back of your mind that our request was not unreasonable, and that you've (disclaimer: not you personally, necessarily) spent the entire thread, and more then just one thread, telling us our people are worth less then any other person. That the lives of our people, who may well be your people as well, considering Australias multinational culture, are so bereft of value that even the setup of a PLEX drive would a waste of resources. Don't you see how wrong an attitude like that is?
I'll tell you this. If I was CCP, I wouldn't be running specific plex drives for specific causes.
I'd have a button on the PLEX section of the character sheet labeled "donate". On that page, you could pick any country in the world, and donate money to their relief services at any time, as well as to some well known charities.
Wouldn't it be nice if you could send money to the red cross branch in ethiopia, just because you felt like it?
Character sheet->Pilot licence ->PLEX for good ->ethiopia
Wouldn't it be nice to be able to donate PLEX to medicines sans frontiers whenever you wanted?
Character sheet->Pilot licence ->PLEX for good ->MSF
It could be that simple. Then everyone could have a fair go. Even those countries that have no eve players whatsoever to champion the flag could benefit.
But while CCP does the PLEX for good drives manually, I think any country that suffers a disaster of any size deserves a PLEX for good to be made for them. It costs CCP fiddlesticks to set up, compared to the good it can do.

You are doing none of the above. You are playing Sudden Saint. Because someone else out there is not in paralyzing anguish, you need to show them!! I've met people like you in life and used to feel guilty myself that I was for some reason not in same Hellpit of anguish that you feel I should be in.

There is no PLEX aid for Germany at this time. Germany is busy bailing out the rest of the EU.
Unless you're confused about the USA, which is actually the nation with the highest international debt in the world, which buys everything on credit and never intends to pay back those loans. These guys desperately need every dollar of foreign aid they can get, otherwise the world economy will fall apart.

A problem with when patches are rolled out? Yep, an Australian player will produce a whine thread.
Since both things happen during our evening play time, they impact our gameplay much more than they impact on yours.
To simulate playing in Australia, quit EVE for half an hour in the middle of your usual EVE playing time, every day for four weeks. Then every second week, quit EVE for six hours.
Whining about people whining, how terribly British of you :P

Whether you choose to dive into a "hellpit of anguish" or not is your own personal decision. I find that dipping your toes in it can be healthy for your interpersonal relationship abilities, and makes you less likely to assume sinister motivations in others without cause.
I'm asking for people to think about what they are saying, because what you say affects how you think, and how you think affects what you say. What people are saying here betrays a lot of misplaced hatred, and a severe lack of empathy. You don't have to suffer yourself to truly understand that others are suffering.
Real life isn't eve. Noone in Queensland volunteered for a flood. Can you understand that?

Can't say I am too impressed CCP - while this is a worthy cause, as the OP said, you ignored my request for support for the floods in Queensland, which rapidly escalated with a Category 5 cyclone crossing in the north of Queensland (this is on the same scale as Katrina - Yasi vs Katrina). The floods then continued on into the southern states and people are still effected by this 4 months later. Since this time, places that were flooded before "the flood" (i.e. in late 2010), during the floods have since been re-flooded.
So yes - while the Americans DO need some support - it is unfair that CCP is cherry picking who is worthy for this. As a co-worked said though - the U.S. has over 10 times the population - so there are way more potential subscriptions to be earned from their good will...
And while many say this is another Australian whine - it is still a valid point of concern that Australia was ignored...

To be fair they did get involed in the second, even if they were a few years late
And didn't they join the war because someone ELSE wanted oil and decided to try take it from them?
America and oil...
Oh...and on topic...being a resident of Australia, I have learnt, that CCP actually doesn't give a damn about Australia. So it's no surprise really.

Having 10 times the population means they can lose 10 times as many people without their society as a whole feeling a significant loss. Which means an accident in Australia where 30 people die is equivalent in impact to a disaster in the USA where 300 people die. Since only 15 people are officially dead (with a few dozen still missing) as a result of the 2011 floods, that only counts as a USA incident involving 150 people.
Thus the floods in Australia have left us with about half the "social impact" of the tornadoes in the USA. It's also worth noting that the floods in Queensland were the biggest since 1972, while the tornado outbreak in the USA was the worst since about 1936. So in one case, Queensland was dealing with a "30 year flood" while the USA was dealing with a 75-year event.
The situation in the USA is more damaging than the floods in Queensland. The scale of the disasters has no relevance, since much of the damage done in Queensland was to floodways, waterways and uninhabited land. The damage done in the USA was to populated areas - mainly because there are so many people there it's hard for some disaster to happen and not kill someone.
In the meantime, I'm saving my whining for the 15 minutes of downtime a night, since I have to eat my dinner even faster than I used to. My indigestion is killing me.

Actually, there are countries going through much worse **** every day. What about those. Let's be serious for a second, what about Afghans who went through war and terrorism for years? Iraqi ? What about African countries where people starve every day? No Western countries is ever going to need aid as badly as those. I don't think it's a matter of deserving it or not, but deserving it more or not.
This said, aiding the US is better than aiding nothing so for me it's still a thumbs up.
And lastly: CCP has to cherry pick. They can't possibly hand over aid to everyone who needs it. That's simply impossible. Just like people can't possibly empathize with everyone. There is just too much **** going on in the world for people to worry about it all. If you do you'll most likely end up needing some "prozac"

Which charities CCP decide to donate to is no business of anyoneÆs. If you don't agree with their choice, then don't donate... simple.
If they don't pick a charity that you want to donate too, rather than crying on the forum, you could try simply donating to that charity yourself.
Quit your *****ing and be thankful that CCP is donating money around the world for many worthy causes.
