I never met vile rat but I know of him. May he rest in peace and my condolences to his family. It's never easy when you suddenly lose some one close.
When people have been suggesting all kinds of memorials, my suggestion would be name one of the new ship classes after him. A memorial in space is easily forgotten while a ship class is bound to be noticed. |

This thread is as much a tribute to the man as it is one to this community. We are relentless in our ambitions, merciless in our struggles and we do not give nor expect quarter in the thick of it.
But when one of our own falls in the only tragic theater that is more drama-filled than the EVE universe, we show our respect for someone who truly committed and contributed.
My respectful condolences go out to his family.
May his example inspire us to be all we can be in this truly magnificent place and to continually help build the fabric of this rich tapestry we call New Eden.

Though I didn't know Vile Rat myself, the influence he has had on some of my compatriot players as well as the community at large permeates through these forums. One of our own has passed away. May CCP honor his memory in one way or another.

If it helps you to understand the difference, consider why the Federal government didn't bomb Oklahoma City after the McVeigh incident.

Spent 4-5 years fighting Goonswarm solid from the days of LV, right up to the end of Delve 2.
Can think of many times 'attempting' to verbally 'tackle' him in local but he was always to quick witted and 'dry' and ended up coming out on top. Later on, with politics ever changing, and VR's position on CSM i was impressed further by his articulate and funny nature.
What strikes me is that he was doing much of this diplomacy in Eve, whilst conducting true diplomacy, in many dangerous and difficult locations. Much of the eve political landscape over the past 5 years has been shaped to a great extent by his efforts, all the while serving his country.
My condolences are to his family, and RIP to Sean. |
